Review of edpnet
2 stars: Poor

Internet access OK, but severe security issues

The internet speed and reliability is pretty good, but I've noticed severe issues with account security. I consider my My edpnet credentials stolen by default, due to their short default size and most likely plaintext storage over at edpnet. Same thing with telephony, plaintext and not only that, it's also unencrypted so anyone is able to intercept ongoing calls. More than a year ago I've privately reported this to edpnet and it still hasn't been taken care of. What's more, according to edpnet the obvious solution to this plaintext communications and insecure password storage issue was locking down telephony registration to their IP range only, which pretty much defeats the whole purpose of VoIP telephony. This is a temporary bodge at best, and far from an adequate solution.

Sorry that you feel this way. We can assure you that we made serious endeavours to upgrade our security. Your my edpnet credentials are encrypted, and unreadable even for us, default size and default complexity is increased drastically. Our VoIP solution is a fixed line replacement solution and is in no way intended for use outside your DSL location, this way we are able to offer all fixed line requirements such as emergency services, and legal intercept. You are of course not obliged to use our VoIP solution, there are many other solutions you can sign up for. If you want to talk about this with one of our technical managers or our COO, feel free to let us know and you will get a personal call.
