Gone to Crap
My husband and I had been using Home Chef for a year, but just cancelled our service. The service started off great even when the recipes started getting remarkably similar and the vegetable side was too often squash. Over the last few months, I found myself contacting them at least once or twice a month with issues that they don’t seem to care about. Due to the lack of care when packing our box, too often was there a puncture or tear in a package of meat causing blood or goo to get all over everything. Sometimes we paid for a fancier meat like filet mignon and didn’t get it. Other times, vegetables were soft, wilted, and the issue that caused the cancellation was that we received a garlic clove that had mold growing on it! The quality of ingredients has gone completely down hill and it’s no longer acceptable considering this isn’t a cheap service. If you had asked me a year ago if I recommend, I would have said yet, but now, heck no!! Do not waste your hard-earned money for crap ingredients and poor customer service.
Recipes get boring fast and produce isn't always fresh
The only thing that has changed since the last time I used this service is that the serving sizes are larger (which I complained about last time around in that is wasn't enough food for the cost) and they now have bread/dessert options. Other then that; the recipes are already starting to run together (meaning same ingredients, same spices, and same type,) the produce is soft and the herbs are slimy upon delivery, and the drivers just toss the package on my porch with no care at all after pulling up in an unlabeled white van. I will be calling to complain about the produce primarily being soft upon arrival and herbs being slimy because not having an ingredient ruins the point and if no difference next box, I'm done permanently.
