Our car could be in mexico for all we know???

This is a long review, but I HIGHLY recommend you read it all the way. If I could give this company negative stars, I would. Stay the hell away from them. My GF moved from Kansas to Emeryville, CA last week. Before I get into it, let me explain that this company is just a broker. They make a couple calls and set up stuff and charge about 50% extra for it. Don't waste your money. Let me tell you what happened in list form (it's quite a ride):

1. The truck to pick up her belongings showed up 2 days late. And they couldn't tell me till 2 hour before it arrived that it was going to be there late. So here we are thinking that it's moving day and it's actually 2 days away... had to pay extra rent to her landlord to stay there for 2 days due to their mistake. And remember we booked this 2 months in advance.

2. The guy who is there to move asks my GF if she can drive him to the FedEx office to pick up his drivers license that his company is sending because his is going to expire tomorrow? WTF? How professional is this???

3. We had paid a $1000 deposit and were told the remainder would be due at delivery. When the truck showed up, we were told that the $1000 was only the fee that ASVLR takes and that we have to pay 50% of the moving cost right then. So we thought "eh ok these guys just want to ensure they get paid". No problem. We did that. Now we were told the total move cost was going to be just under $3k

4. We were told that there would be at least 2 strong men to lift everything... the driver was the only person there and my GF ended up having to lift furniture for them!!! Seriously???? You can find a picture of it on their twitter account as I'm about the post it there soon as well. (Luckily her neighbor took a picture as proof).

5. So the truck leaves and we are given a 14 day window for when it will arrive... Is this an international shipment or something? Is there a customs process? NO! Why can't you tell me within 2 days when this will arrive. Oh wait it gets better... The truck left on Wednesday... I get a call on Friday afternoon that it's going to be here on Sunday morning and once again there will be at least 2 heavy lifters to remove the items.

6. Later than night, the truck for her car arrives and that went smooth. (The only thing that went smooth at all... but don't worry it gets worse later, keep reading.)

7. Truck shows up 1 hour early. Same guy that loaded the truck. Tells me that another person will be there to help move stuff in about 45 minutes. Goes through paperwork with me. Comes up to see the apartment and says this is more than 75ft from the truck so we need to pay an additional $127 for "long carry fee". Once again, I tell my GF, lets just pay this and get it done. We'll deal with the financials later.

8. NO ONE SHOWS UP TO HELP AGAIN!!!! I end up carrying stuff up with the guy just as my GF had to in the beginning! The guy shows up at the end when only 1 item is left to carry up... completely pointless. As they are leaving the driver looks at me as if I should be tipping him???? Are you nuts?

9. I was told the day after the car left Kansas that it would be arriving on Monday. This morning my GF gets a call saying that they have almost reached Imperial Beach, CA. THATS NOT EVEN CLOSE TO WHERE WE ARE! They took the car to the wrong city!!!! SO now the car is going to be delayed some more.

I have had to call ASVLR Inc. every day for the last week for one thing or another. I just called them to ask them how they plan on compensating us. Since all of this has happened, I'm going to expect a complete refund since they have not met their quotation requirements at all! The lady starts with the car situation and tells me that they will be refunding us the $100 deposit we gave for the car move but that we have to pay the transport company $100 more since they messed up... how is this compensating us? I finally just got irritated and simply asked for a manager. That manager has yet to get back to me. It's been 3 hours and they are about to close for the day in 5 more minutes... Recap... Payed more than quoted... had to lift stuff ourselves... Driver may or may not have a legit license... extremely horrible customer service... car could be in mexico for all we know??? I'll keep you updated as things progress...

DON'T BELIEVE THE OTHER REVIEWS! they must've been written by a company employee...

We contracted with All States Van Lines for our move from Boston, Massachusetts to Panama City, Panama Their price was the best and they promised a good packing and move and that our good would arrive close to the time that we arrived here in Panama City.

We dealt exclusively with Mr. Michael Stein, who apparently is based in the New York/New Jersey area. On the day of the move, three Ukrainian men arrived to dissemble our furniture and begin packing our household goods. We paid the remainder of the amount we owed All States Van Lines and also paid $450 to insure our goods against damage. This was all paid by check, which All States later cashed. The agreed total cost of our move was $7441, which breaks down to $5995 for shipping, $995 for packing and $450 for insurance.

Right off the bat, the moving team began pestering my wife for a "tip" at the end of the day. I had to leave to attend an event and in my absence the leader of the group began to curse me in my wife's presence because I had not left a "tip." I'm glad we did not cave into these thugs, because according to my neighbor they began angrily kicking around my boxes of goods as if they were soccer balls. They threw our furniture on to the back of the truck and left for New York that evening.

When my goods arrived at our home in Panama we immediately noticed damages due to the poor packing and actual vandalism committed by All States' people back in Boston. We suffered at least $1500 in damages to our goods, as far as we can now determine and each day that passes we see more and more damage. The manager of the Panamanian company that performed the unpack told me that he had never seen such a reckless job in packing… ever.

I placed a call to Mr. Michael Stein from All States shortly after the unpack and he told me to file a claim against the shipping insurance. We never received any policy from him, despite their having fraudulently charged us $450 for said policy. Long story short - there never was any policy in effect. All States committed fraud when they collected money for a fictitious insurance policy. Now All States Van Lines refuses to reimburse us for our damaged/destroyed goods and even further refuses to return the $450 insurance premium paid for a policy that never even existed. They don't even answer emails anymore. All States Van Lines is a cancer and woe be to anyone who contracts them for a move.

They handled not only packing up my belongings

When I was offered a job in Chile I hired international movers All States Van Lines to make the job go smoothly. They handled not only packing up my belongings but arranged the transfer and brokerage for the overseas shipping. I really liked the job they did. Now that I have returned I will remember them if I ever get offered a foreign position again.

This service proved to be the best!

I started with a different moving company but it was not a good fit. I came across All States Van Lines (Chicago) - and this service proved to be the best! Their workers are certainly in the correct line of work. We appreciate their utmost care for all our things. Without the expertise of their guys, I'm sure everything would be such a mess. I am very thankful that they made my move a lot easier.
