My 69-year old mother in law received a Samsung Tab 7 from us as gift. She' really not into gadgets. So we chose something that we know she can use easily. We're glad the device is just right for her. The salesperson at the store recommended it to us, thanks.

Samsung as usual Excellent Engineering

_10.1 Samsung Galaxy WI FI ( SIM ) Tablets_
**Samsung as usual Excellent engineering**.
Business like performance
Great Entertainment for the whole Family
Advanced easy to use 'Parental control' features welcomed.
It won't replace a PC multi tasking wise or hard drive size, but more than adequate in web browsing/ emails / mobile calls / skype video , the split screen is a very usefull feature.
Freeing up of hard drive space is a snack by selecting the 'optimize' button after each boot up.
Front and back cameras make reverse selfies possible ,just perfect for social media sites such as Twitter , Facebook etc.
**Touch wizard software a real whiz**
advanced features such as;
_Swipe screen shot / front or back camera and quick ,instant edit and save_
Web browser page saver and document read later is very handy.
Apple i Pad needs to be up graded to compete.

I've recently bought the Samsung Galaxy …

I've recently bought the Samsung Galaxy S2 9.7

It's a lovely tablet but:

I don't seem to have any control over it. Google wants me to be signed in for everything, which I hate and I can't even use the word packages etc unless I'm signed into Microsoft which is annoying. I bought a microsoft package which I'm supposed to be able to use on 3 machines so why it's controlled on this tablet, I doon't know. I don't like this kind of control so I've downloaded WPS office.

There is no access to a control panel which I always use on my laptop.

There is a bin but as with everything else I've just stumbled across it.

All in all it feels very restrictive and claustraphobic.

It's ok if you want to play games, watch tv, read a book, surf the net or use email but the size of the sceen restricts what you can see in one go, especially in email view and I used to like the spellcheck but haven't found one on email view yet.

If, like me, you use word a lot and like to control your files easily and quickly. Then keep that laptop. When downloading documents, I haven't been given an option to name it what I want or put it where I want. Although I have just stumbled upon a save as once the file is clicked on in file management! A better user manual would have been helpful. I suspect it's been written by someone who knows how to use tablets and thinks everybody else does too!

I have several courses on the go but couldn't imagine how I'd do them on here. I've realised that I certainly couldn't create anything serious on here. It would be too much like hard work. I'm a touch typist and even with this larger screen, I find it impossible to touch type.

It's a bit like walking through treacle using this tablet at the moment.

I'm so glad that I've kept my laptop.

Well I've had this for six months now and nothing has changed. I use memo for small notes but nothing major...

Google Drive doesn't always work. I can't always see what a file is (icon view). If I delete a file from my gallery, it no longer seems to work in Drive(!)

Dropbox seems to be better, so ling as you add files, not share files but far less space space, unless you pay.

Keep that laptop...

There is nothing to like about Samsung and their products

For those buying Samsung products of any kind, when you pick up your phone or switch on your TV, think about this. South Korea take part in some of the most horrific torture to dogs and cats on the planet yet Samsung are not interested in helping this improve, they turn a blind eye and are solely interested in their profits. Millions of dogs and cats are boiled alive, hung up and asphyxiated, hung up and blowtorched, limbs and paws cut off and skinned, all whilst still being ALIVE and fully conscious as these people believe the more they torture the animal, the better the meat will taste. There are millions of dogs every year who are born in these cages and for their whole lives are in the hands of these individuals and they witness daily the horrific killings of their friends and family around them. South Korea and Samsung bring shame to the world and the only way this can improve for these animals is for us to stop buying anything from companies like Samsung who are unethical and profit hungry. Shame shame shame on you Samsung.
