Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 744 reviews, most reviewers were unhappy with their experience overall. Consumers frequently report severe disappointment with poor food quality, specifically mentioning issues like rotten produce, unpleasant textures, and fatty meat that ruins meals. People also express deep frustration regarding unhelpful customer service and rude staff members who actively disregard shopper inquiries or make them feel unwelcome. Some reviewers are particularly happy with the affordable everyday options, special product selections, and pleasant interactions experienced at specific store locations.

Waste - Fruit & Veg only sold by the bag.

The prices are good and quality are mostly good as well. But I am a pensioner and live alone, I do not want to buy a bag of carrots, a bag of parsnips, a bag of apples, a bag of pears, .........
I cannot use all this fruit and veg while it is still fresh. I do not want to be batch cooking, freezing and then cooking it again, my freezer is not big anough and I want to eat my veg Fresh. Buying these amounts negates any savings. We are all being told not to waste food and buy just what we need. Aldi is not helping. If Lidl customers can buy just the amount they need why can Aldi customers do so? Looks like I will have to change to Lidl.

Questioned at checkout

I object to being rudely cross questioned about whether I had been able to buy everything I wanted. Assistant (Manager I guess) claimed free range chicken no longer stocked; website makes it clear it is. Lincoln Tritton Road

It is minus a star - product not fit for purpose and customer services useless

It is minus a star! Several days of my time wasted…product purchased, it does not work, have tried so Blooming hard to get this resolved.
Appalling customer service, I don’t have a receipt and paid cash. Did not pick up a receipt as on self serve, appreciate that that is my error. However, advised by customer service that if I recall the day, the store could raise a receipt for me. So supplied date and approximate time to customer services, who then changed tack saying I would have to go to the store to request receipt and it would be the stores discretion. For about the tenth time, I had explained that the Northampton store was not local to me , would they kindly contact the store for me as there was not a telephone number for the store. The customer service advisor told me they did not have a phone number for the store and had no way of contacting them, It’s appalling, we are with in our 60 days.

No one willing to address the product has never worked.
No one willing to give me the telephone number of the store in Northampton.
It’s not fit for purpose, you keep burying your head.
I am so dissatisfied that no one will own this problem. It was not a cheap purchase at £79.99. Aldi if you are reading this get in touch!!

Very poor complaint handling

Very poor complaint handling, lack of care, and serious unresolved concerns.

I raised a serious complaint with ALDI relating to the Walton-on-Thames store. The complaint was not about one single issue — it involved a number of concerns about customer treatment, complaint handling, possible confidentiality issues, repeated bag checks, internal staff communication, and letters later received by multiple members of my family claiming to ban us from ALDI premises.

The original complaint included concerns about staff conduct at the Walton-on-Thames store and whether customers who had raised concerns were then being treated differently. One member of my family was repeatedly subjected to bag checks, with nothing found, which left us feeling singled out, embarrassed and uncomfortable.

We also raised concerns about staff behaviour in store, including what appeared to be internal communication about our presence while we were shopping. This made us feel watched and unwelcome.

The situation became more serious when multiple members of my family received letters through the post claiming to ban us from ALDI Walton-on-Thames and all other ALDI premises. These letters used ALDI’s name and store address, but gave no clear reason, no named manager, no appeal route and no proper contact details.

We contacted ALDI and were verbally told the letters were not genuine / not authorised. However, we have still not received proper written confirmation, a clear explanation, or reassurance about whether any ban exists. We have also not received an explanation of how our names and home addresses were used.

This has caused significant distress and worry, especially because personal home addresses were used and we do not understand how this happened.

ALDI Customer Services advised us to report the matter to the police. However, when we followed this advice, ALDI then stated that because it was now a police matter, they would not look to investigate further at this time and would only liaise with police if contacted.

In my opinion, this is not acceptable. The complaint still needs to be handled by ALDI, especially where it involves customer treatment, complaint handling, possible use of personal information, and whether documents claiming to be from ALDI are genuine or not.

At the time of writing, we have not received a proper apology, compassion, reassurance, or a full written response to the issues raised.

I am very disappointed with ALDI’s handling of this matter. I expected a company of ALDI’s size to take this seriously, provide a clear explanation, confirm the position in writing, investigate properly, and show concern for the distress caused.

I'm awaiting a response from Aldi…

I'm awaiting a response from Aldi regarding a complaint l made on 21st August 2026. I tried to purchase a John Lewis gift card with my shopping. The cashier asked me how much to put on. I confirmed the amount, but just received a normal till receipt. When I asked whether the gift card had been validated the cashier didn't know, but then inadvertently cancelled it. Nearly two weeks later I have not received the refund (£50).

my local aldi has stopped supplying shelled nuts

I went into my local aldi in AMESBURY WILTSHIRE, they had NO pecan nuts NO brazils NO walnuts or any other unsalted shelled nuts..
I asked a member of staff if the nuts i usually buy have been moved, he said " if there not there we haven't got any" i said you usually have loads of every type, in fact I've been buying them there for 10 years and they have always had every type..his next comment i think was also BS he said " well head office decides what we get and they must have decided to stop supplying them" ..
he was obviously a plonker and rather than say " im a plonker who doesn't take a interest in my job " he came out with that ..
im wondering what the real reason is but unfortunately the staff at Amesbury mainly walk around avoiding customers and there enquiries..im still a fan of aldi but I will either have to try lidals or another branch to find out what's going on..

had a very disappointing experience…

had a very disappointing experience with a staff member named Robin at Aldi strood kent . I understand that staff may need to check customers’ bags as part of store procedures, and I have no problem with that.but touching all my items with hes hand sorry not great However, there is a right way to ask to check someone’s bag, and unfortunately Robin spoke to me in a very rude and disrespectful manner.
Customers should be treated politely and with respect, even when staff are carrying out security procedures. I believe Robin from strood aldi would benefit from additional customer service training, particularly around how to communicate with customers professionally and respectfully. The way the situation was handled made me feel very uncomfortable and left me with a poor impression of the store.

The coleslaw smells of old cabbage

The coleslaw smells of old cabbage, it's a grey colour, does not last , it's like they add clippings, texture is rubbish. Scraping the barrel here. If you can't be trusted to make Coleslaw, I hate to think what other cost cutting goes on.

The food is excellent priced for budgets and family that are on budgets! The customers service team gets severed! Really needs to improve the tills are always empty there never anyone on then until there is a large amount of customers waiting! The severs on the tills are not friendly and some come across hostile and rude towards customers never will a welcoming approach. And never seen to smile or greet customers! Instead always grumpy towards customers! And some can be hostile towards customers! This is not very good customer service which really needs to improve in the upcoming future! Been a regular customer that visits the store over 4 years. Have pick up on these issues! Up everything else prices and the store it’s self is great! Just needs more staff training on there customers service approach!

judging by the number of complaints we…

judging by the number of complaints we ALL should STOP using aldi & hit them where it hurts in there income, I was in the strood store & had bags with me from other stores , when at the check out i saw a security guard speak to a customer advisor & in front of maybe 20 to 40 other customers ask to look in my bag , as i had nothing to hide i let him ,I had to stand there in front of EVERY BODY while he rifled through my bag but as i had a family member working for security in a marks & spencer store in a large m & s store in london , i know what the Protocol & procedure they have to adhere to & NONE were displayed here , there suppose to take you aside where you wouldn't be embarrassed & they are supposed to have 150% & SEEN something go into your bag to question you, i've taken this to aldi customer services who escalated this but the scottish guy that has called only twice speaks so quick you can't understand where he's from (had to guess) i've given the times i'm available but still haven't been able to speak to any one about this , I told them i knew the Protocol & guide line they have to adhere to & i think there deliberately avoiding speaking to me , this isn't the first time i've had issues with this store & stopped using them & funny enough only just popped in there as there's stuff i can't get in other stores , there level of customer service hasn't changed 🤬🤬🤬
