Carpetright cost us a small fortune in aborted removal and storage costs, not to mention three days worth of wasted leave from work waiting for a carpet and a carpet fitter that never arrived. Each day the same promise came: 'we'll be there tomorrow'. But of course tomorrow never came. When complaining and asking for compensation for our losses, the head of 'consumer affairs' (they don't do 'customer service'), a man called Renouf, stated that they were not liable and their file on the matter 'was closed'. A quick search on the internet revealed many similar tales from many disgruntled customers, all of whom bemoan the abysmal level of customer service. Mind you, that's nothing compared to the stories of woe the staff in the local Carpetright store are happy to recount. It seems the management have no friends, anywhere. Spend a little more and keep an honest local trader in business. Carpetright epitomise everything that is wrong in today's commercial and retail world.
