Concerned

I opened a package I had purchased from a seller on eBay this evening. There was a receipt and a handwritten note on it from the seller. I noticed my personal phone number had been printed out on the receipt. I went back and reviewed eBay’s privacy policies and nothing has changed. eBay is supposed to protect buyers' personal information aside from a ship to address. I utilized eBay’s chat platform and what should’ve been a simple chat ended up taking 45 minutes with no resolution. First, I was told that it was because I have my phone number on my account. I explained I had to share that information in order to create an account. Then I was passed off to another representative who just kept putting me on hold because they were supposedly looking into it. Only to be told that my personal information was safe and the reason they need my phone number is the carrier may need to contact me. I was told that the seller has no access to my personal phone number. I explained to them the seller had printed off the receipt (not an carrier) and had written a handwritten note on it. So obviously the seller did in fact have access to my number. The eBay representative never responded back. I’m left wondering how many sellers have all this time have had access to information they should not have. I then turned to the internet only to learn this has been an ongoing issue for many years. Yet eBay claims they’re protecting buyers' personal information, but sellers actually have full access to private information. That is just simply not OK and for eBay’s representatives to lie is simply unethical.

Don't ever switch from a personal…

Don't ever switch from a personal account to a business account. They will drop your selling limits to 70 items and you have to wait 30 days to ask for an increase. I WAS with ebay for 26 years with a private account and switched to a business account. I had 1500 items listed prior and had to remove all of them except 70. Then wait 30 days for an possible increase in the number of items i could list. How is that a business model? Stay away from EBAY.

HORRIBLE!!

HORRIBLE!!!
I was trying to open an account for sales. Mainly second hand stuff such clothes and watches.
I had a hard time knowing how to set up the account so I tried many times without success. I've been in touch with the support where they said they'll help me verify the account with my bank and there nothing to worry about. After a few minutes of waiting "the chat lost connection". 24 hours later I received an email saying I am suspended because I am a treath to the website! Like what??? I have been memeber for many years buying on Ebay and finally I wanted to try to sell myself. This is so wrong! 1 star is to much for this website!!!

Look out for hidden predatory fees

We've all heard of eBay and I've been using it for twenty years. My sales have been small items until recently when I listed an RV trailer. I listed it for a year for no charge and then suddenly last month, something changed. I now owe eBay $109 for the listing THAT HAS NOT SOLD.

I'm usually very careful about fees. If it was clearly disclosed, I would never have listed it. Now I'm stuck.

Very disappointed in what eBay has become and I can't say that I will use them again any time soon.

Large purchase incomplete

I made a large purchase of over $1000 through eBay. The seller sent only part of the order. eBay is supporting the seller and refuses to honor their guarantee. I am not happy! All I want is what I ordered, what it showed in the picture that I was buying. I am very angry that eBay is refusing to back me up! They are nothing if they don't have buyers! I advise everyone to NOT TRUST the eBay guarantee. It it worthless. I found many great sellers on eBay, but if you get a bad one, you need to be protected.

P.S. I have gone through all the steps. I have emails from the seller telling me he is going to make it right and then he ghosts me. This has been going on since July. eBays response is that the package was delivered. I agree that I received a package that did not contain everything I paid for!!!

Took forever to sell an item for much much lower than all the scammers sell the cheaper option. They didn’t add in the fees before the sale. They charged me twice for a shipping label on top of a huge portion for “advertisement” in which they provide zero proof that the buyer saw my phone via there “advertisements” I do not recommend eBay. Waste your time and money without the headache!

Purchased $300 comic on 08/27 with the understanding that the book would be shipped within 3 days. As of September 3rd, the book still hadn't been shipped. Contacted customer 4 times asking when book would be shipped. No response. Initiated cancelation request. Customer immediately rejected. Contacted Ebay, which told me to wait until after September 10th. Contacted Ebay on September 11th to cancel order. Ebay responded that they sent my info to seller and told me to wait until September 17th. Never happened before. Im not a valued customer at Ebay. Can't tell you the number, but I'm sure I've spent over 10k at Ebay. Ive had it

Convenient site for searching rare items

The platform is pretty easy to navigate, and the search filters work well when looking for specific items. The main drawback is that you have to spend extra time double-checking seller ratings to feel safe. Still a good tool for comparing prices and finding unique options.

Wrong advert by Ebay

EBAY advertise money back guarantee. No they ask you to report fraud to the police when my only complaint was that the whole of my order was nt delivered.I wasn’t calling fraud ,the item could be laying in courier’s holding or anywhere. Whilst asking me to report fraud they were still letting the seller sell on there forum.Double standers .My advise use Amazon.

I tried to contact the seller - the number was disconnected. I tried to contact Customer Service with Ebay - all I got is AI. No help at all. I just wanted to speak to a real person that could help me. Apparently, customer service is NOT a priority for Ebay. What a waste of time!!!!

Saved money on replacing the mirror

I needed a passenger-side mirror for my van, and the dealer's price was simply absurd. I found a used one on eBay with the same part number and carefully examined the photos before ordering. The paint color wasn't a perfect match oh well but once installed, the housing and electronics worked perfectly. For a work vehicle, that was more than enough.

No seller protection

I sold a product that was genuine and brand new. Sale terms were no returns allowed. The seller changed their mind and said the item was not as described. Without contacting me ebay said I had to accept the return, and pay postage, I have a 100% feedback from 100s of items. I can't believe how poorly eBay handled this; absolutely shocking. Clearly OK for buyers, but sellers beware, you have no protection; I have no idea what the 'seller protection fee' is for!

eBay is a waste of time anymore

eBay is a waste of time anymore, it is setup for sellers and doesn't cater to buyers. Who funds the business? Not the sellers, but the buyers. eBay has forgotten that and made it impossible to reach a rep. You where able to go through pissed consumer and now that option doesn't work. No wonder the 1.2 star reviews. All about the money and not consumer friendly. AI is screwing humanity.

eBay is the biggest scam and fraudsters there is.

Very unhappy with eBay I made £72 selling my old stuff, I purchased an iPad Mini screen protector from a seller who had 1.5M sales and it arrived damaged. I provided evidence of this claim and then I waited 2 weeks nothing was done so I left negative feedback.

eBay being eBay I put in a return request on the damaged product and I was banned for “abusive buyer policies”. All my account wiped due to a damaged item that wasn’t my fault and all I wanted to do was return the broken product I received but instead I was left out of pocket and with a damaged item. I will be filing a chargeback claim upon this purchase as it is very unacceptable that sellers get away with not packaging correctly and having their products break in the mail and when something goes wrong they don’t provide help or support.

Update - I have now received yet ANOTHER damaged item which took over a month to arrive with 0 tracking and eBay yet again have not helped me whatsoever the guy on the phone I spoke to was rude and abrupt and didn’t help me whatsoever. #eBayisaSCAM

So yeah back to Amazon for me at least I can speak to a real human agent there.

eBay is a totally unprofessional…

eBay is a totally unprofessional organization as evidenced by the thousands of negative reviews. Unfortunately, I was not aware of their horrible reputation before placing my own order with an untrustworthy merchant selling on their site. And once again, a horrible experience not only with eBay but also the merchant. Trustpilot should really revise their star rankings to include Zero, which is what eBay deserves.

BUYERS BEWARE!

I’ve been a customer on ebay for 21 years. Recently I purchased a Playstation 3 console mostly as updated equipment to play older PS2 games so backwards compatibility was a key inducement for me. The seller prominently advertised in 3 different locations that the console plays PS2 games. I played it the day of arrival with several PS2 games. Each time, the display said the unit is not compatible for PS2.

I tried dealing directly with the seller out of courtesy, but to no avail. I immediately went to the ebay money back guarantee process. I did a lot of research and on every site, including Sony’s own user manual for the specific model PS3 in question, it states the console will not play PS2 games contrary to the seller’s descriptions and contentions. I submitted all the evidence including Sony’s user manual for the console that states PS2’s are not supported. I was shocked to get a rejection from ebay within 2 hours and with no explanation.

I then went through their difficult-to-find appeal process by phone. The rep agreed that they would probably overturn the decision based on my documented information. I asked him to please put in the notes the reasons for rejecting my claim if the appeal went against me. Within one hour they rejected me, again with no stated reasoning. Their supposed guarantee is specifically to cover either damaged goods or merchandise contrary to the listing. The evidence I gave them showed them irrefutably that the item was misrepresented. I mean, when the manufacturer states in the owner’s manual it won’t play PS2 games how much clearer does it get?

I can only assume ebay was trying to protect a regular seller at my expense because they refused to divulge the basis for their decision. If people on this site can misrepresent what they’re selling and get way with it, this is a venue for scammers and ebay’s guarantee is the worst dishonest scam of all.

New seller on eBay and I got suspended.

New seller on eBay and I got suspended.
Obviously, if there are logical reasons for it, I get suspended. But I can not get a good explanation on why I got suspended and what I can do about it.
Furthermore I tried to get in contact with eBay, but I only get responds from AI that I got suspended for risky activities.
BUT I DON'T KNOW WHAT KIND OF ACTIVITIES!!! I WANT TO KNOW SO I CAN SOLVE IT!

I only just uploaded a watch, which was a hell of a work to upload...
