Travel insurance covers the period from when you leave your country of residence until you return. In your case, the insurance was purchased for a later departure date, while the trip had already started, as you had left Denmark earlier. Unfortunately, this means that the coverage was not in effect for the full travel period.
When purchasing insurance online, it is clearly stated that if you have already left your country of residence, you need to contact customer service to arrange the correct coverage for your situation. This is to ensure that the entire trip is properly insured.
We understand that this may be frustrating, but it is important that the insurance period matches the full duration of the trip.

Poor coverage limit sections
I recently faced a major flight disruption where an airline postponed my flight by two full days without notice, forcing me to buy an emergency replacement ticket out of pocket for over DKK 4,700.
When I submitted my claim with ironclad evidence, the ERV claims team lazily rejected it on the first pass under the wrong section (Section 4.1.1 for arriving late), clearly just trying to close the file quickly without reading it. I had to audit their own policy terms for them and file an appeal to force them to look at Section 9 (Delayed Arrival).
While they finally admitted their mistake and agreed to evaluate it under Section 9, their maximum coverage limit for this is a pathetic DKK 700. A DKK 700 cap on a 48-hour long-haul flight disruption leaves the customer entirely out of pocket.
If you want an insurance company that actually reviews your evidence competently the first time, or a policy that realistically protects you financially during an international travel crisis, look elsewhere. I will be taking my business to a company with actual coverage

In cases of flight disruptions, it is primarily the airline that is responsible for rebooking and covering major additional expenses. Travel insurance is designed as a supplement, and the coverage under delayed arrival includes a fixed limit, which is clearly stated in the policy terms.
The compensation of DKK 700 is intended as a goodwill amount—a small contribution to help cover inconvenience rather than a full reimbursement of costs.

insurance doesn’t cover flight cancellation
I waited almost 15 business days for a response from ERV.
I had problems with the flight back from my vacation. The airline, in addition to canceling, did not help reschedule my return. I paid again for tickets with another airline so I could get home.
I contacted ERV insurance and reported everything that had happened and to my surprise they denied help, claiming that they do not cover problems with canceled flights.
If they don't cover the basics for travel insurance (transport) ... what's the point in paying for the ERV service?
"With reference to your claim regarding canceled flight, we would like to inform you that we are not able to reimburse you the cost.
The reason why, is that the insurance doesn’t cover extra expenses due to flight cancellation.
It is the booking company responsibility to refund the canceled ticket or rebook you.

This means that airlines are obligated to either rebook passengers or refund the ticket in the event of a cancellation.
Because of this, travel insurance does not cover additional expenses caused solely by flight cancellations, as the primary responsibility rests with the airline. Instead, the insurance is designed to cover unforeseen events that are not already the obligation of another party.
We also sincerely apologize for the waiting time you experienced while your case was being reviewed. That is not the level of service we aim to provide, and we fully understand your frustration.

Hard to contact: no answer when called, then spend 3 days waiting for an email reply (didn't get it). Eventually I had to order online without asking my question because I was tight on time and needed insurance certificate as fast as possible but only after paying found out that they'll take 3 more working days to send me over a certificate.
