Habitat for Humanity Reviews 

Yesterday was a holiday and store was closed. I went on the website to browse and ordered 2 nightstands for pickup at the Etobicoke location. Transaction was accepted and confirmed and the website updated to indicate the nightstands were no longer available. This afternoon, as I waited for the email to indicate when they would be ready to pick up, I receive a "refund" with no explanation. I reached out requesting a reason for the refund and I received, "Sorry! We apologize for the inconvenience, however this item is no longer in the store." I have sent multiple follow up emails requesting an explanation but have not received an further emails. Suggestion - do not buy products on their website, they do not stand by their transactions.

I buy a lot of stuff from them when they yesterday and I was gonna buy a used bike the bike car sticker on $25. When I went to the cashier she said that there’s another stick of the $65.
I told her that they can come and look their multiple bikes and lower than that and they all have the same green color tag
Wasting my time with them and make me feel like crap like I would’ve changed the sticker on all those bikes
If you get a donation, you shouldn’t be that hungry when you have a buyer
This experience definitely left a pretty bad taste in my mouth about not going and their prices. Sometimes they are just stupid.

I walked in to the reseller store to get 1 thing and 2 employees where mad i don't even know why i tried to stay out of everyone's way i didn't bother anyone seems like thay look at you and instantly judge you on the way you look or something. I did not feel comfortable after that and wont be returning. Shame on the employees for treating the customers like garbage.

Legal Aid Secoity of Wisconsin said Habitat for Humanity unjustly broke their promise to build us a home and there is nothing we can do about it because they're a nonprofit organization.

In 2023 Carliy Goff the Family Services Director & Construction Liaison approved our application and said Habitat for Humanity was going to build us a home after our verification of financials/tax returns were reviewed. My partner and I are an elderly disabled couple that put in most of our “swet equity hours” at the Re-Store and volunteered our time to serve food and drinks at the LPGA at Erin Hills golf course in Hartford WI. The "swet hours" we had left was some hours on the build of our home.

In 2025 was the second year we were waiting for Habitat for Humanity to build us a home. The new Family Services Director & Construction Liaison April Kresse-Daniels has for Washington & Dodge Counties in Wisconsin had no objections with our verification of financials/tax returns she requested in her handwriting. On 7/01/2026 we recieved the denial letter.

We were given less than 30-days from April Kresse-Daniels the Family Services Director & Construction Liaison our verification of financials/tax returns for 2024 and 2025 were before the deadline of 7/1/26 so we personally gave April Kresse-Daniels these documents she requested in her handwriting. April Kresse-Daniels did not have any objection that our verification of financials/tax returns were not incomplete. HR Block also sent our Approval Form 4029 that exempts us from paying taxes  from the IRS for 2024 and 2025.

 H&R Block said April Kresse-Daniels the Family Services Director & Construction Liaison for Habitat for Humanity which is not a tax expert has past history of questioning the correct completed tax documents from the IRS.

I apply for a job they said I'd most likely would get it then they call I called up the day later and they said they already hired somebody I don't believe that because they did this to somebody else they deliberately lied to me some people just don't have integrity to tell the truth habitat for humanity doesn't have the at all they lie

The lady at the front desk is very rude to costumers,let's hope trust pilot will allow me to express how I feel when I walked in to purchase item by the way I live next door to it,

I arranged a home collection for a vanity I wanted to donate, it’s in perfect condition and cost $1400 3 years ago. It’s been in a guest bath so hardly used. It was in the house when we bought it and was new at that point.
They arranged collection and sent a zero cost invoice as collection was being sponsored. I didn’t really understand what that meant but they offered free pick up.
Two days later I got an email saying they were cancelling collection and I needed to reschedule pickup, I did so but this time they wanted me to pay $130 plus gas charges as they no longer were offering free pickup. How is that even possible, you either offer free pickup or not. And it’s really sad that when you’re donating an item you have to also pay $130 for pickup. That’s money I just don’t have available.

When you have furniture picked up by Habitat don't expect them to take anything if it isn't in pristine condition. We sent pictures of what we wanted to donate. They came and refused half of our furniture because it wasn't perfect. There was a sun mark under the arm cover of a sofa. The driver seemed to care less and was rude.

I WAS EXTREMELY DISSATISFIED WITH WHAT HAPPENED IN MY HOME, AT THE END , I FELT LIKE A WRECKING CREW CAME. I NOW HAVE A WORST SITUATION THAN I STARTED OUT WITH. A LEAK THAT HAS BEEN DRIPPING SINCE NOV. 2025, A HOLE WHERE THE FAUCET WAS, CHIPPED TUB, AND I HAD TO RESTAIN MY DECK STAIRS BECAUSE SOMEONE DECIDED ON THEIR OWN TO CHOP THE STEPS TO REMOVE SNOW WITH A SHOVEL, REMOVING A NEWLY DECK STAINED JOB THAT WAS DONE IN THE SUMMER CHIPPING IT OFF,..SALT WOULD HAVE MELTED THE SNOW. ALL THE SPACKLE ON THE CEILING THAT WAS DONE BY ONE PERSON ENDED UP SCRAPPED OFF BY ANOTHER, AND I HAD TO REDO IT, I ALSO HAD TO PAINT THE CEILING.
SINCE MARCH, NO ONE HAS CALLED OR EMAILED ME FROM HABITAT AND I'M LEFT WITH THE SAME PROBLEMS. IF YOU CAN NOT HIRE PROFESSIONALS TO DO WORK, IT'S BETTER LEFT ALONE. IT'S LIKE HIRING ME TO DO A SERIOUS OPERATION ON A PERSON WHEN I ONLY KNOW HOW TO TAKE SOMEONE'S TEMPERATURE. MAYBE IT SHOULD BE CONSIDERED TO ONLY HIRE INDIVIDUALS TO DO YARD WORK IF THEY ARE NOT QUALIFIED TO DO WORK THE PROFESSIONALS DO. I NOW HAVE TO HIRE A REAL PLUMBER, WHICH I PERHAPS SHOULD HAVE DONE IN NOV. 2025 TO SAVE ME THE DISTRESS. I HAVE PHOTOS OF EVERYTHING THAT HAS HAPPENED IN MY HOME. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS BUSINESS TO ANYONE. ONE MORE THING I MUST MENTION, I STARTED WITH THEM AUG. 2024, THEY HAD SEVERAL INSPECTOR COME HERE TO TELL ME THE IMPROVEMENTS THAT THEY WOULD SUGGEST TO HABITAT, NEW FRONT DOOR, TREES CUT, AND ROOF REPAIR, ( TWO ROOF GUYS CAME, ONE OF THEM TWICE, AND WAS NEVER SEEN AGAIN.) FEMALE VOLUNTEER CAME AT 5PM THROUGH THE SNOW AND NO ONE ELSE SHOWED UP OR TOLD HER THEY CANCELLED. INSPECTOR SAID A PIECE OF WOOD NEEDED TO BE REPLACED UNDER MY SLIDING GLASS DOORS, NOTHING DONE THERE AS WELL. THIS WAS EAST STROUDSBURG PA. HABITAT FOR HUMANITY 2610 Milford Rd

I want to donate stuff to habitat for humanity for free.But they charge you for them to come out and pick it up.I don't believe that is right.You donate for free.But they wanna charge you for coming out to pick stuff up i do do not recommend this to nobody.Nobody should have to pay to have something.Donated for free they charge you the gas mileage, just to come out.And pick it up everybody should take their business somewhere else where they are, they will not charge gas, just to come out.And pick something up for free i give this place thumbs down
I don't think they should charge somebody gas money just to come out.If you wanna donate something for free that is wrong to do

Love doesn't live at Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver anymore! ... No Humanity, either - 02.27.26 - I was very excited to get a Habitat home as in 2017 I was grieving my mothers passing, very sick, and financially strapped from serving as a sole caregiver for years. That was over 8 years ago. Now, I ask everyone to BEWARE of engaging in the Habitat homeownership program. They dropped me (and others) into a predatory HOA situation, and even after years of pleas, they dumped us there like a hot potato, and refuse to provide support! They clearly acknowledge serious issues with predatory HOAs for they have discontinued the HOA program, and left and ignored homeowners experiencing significant issues in a big mess. They refuse to provide support, including even providing pertinent documentation to support their closing this bad deal, and initiating the horrific journey of my stressful and sickening years-long fight. They are well aware (Samantha Becker) of the stress I am experiencing and the deterioration of my fragile health, but show no empathy....NO HUMANITY! There is no known homeowner support person or department for devastating predatory HOA practices against their "legacy" HOA homeowners. Samatha is the only point of contact, to whom I'm aware of. She is the Senior Manager, Stewardship. ...Not sure what that is, I think Marketing, but it's useless to me, and other abandoned HOA homeowners, left to the sharks. This stress may be the death of me after 8 years of significant issues including physical threats of harm by my HOA president. Habitat sends cute greeting cards, and invitations to legacy homeowner events. But have left me and other HOA homeowners out in the cold. ... Thats all Marketing. There no Love or Humanity there anymore. How do they sleep with a clear conscience? Jimmy Carter must be rolling over in his grave. "HUMANITY" equals a mere WORD and a FACADE, based on my personal experience. BEWARE! Please Please,BEWARE.

Gullible me, I volunteered for Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver for beyond what was required, and included them as beneficiaries on my will! I still have humanity and love in my heart and spirit, though. That can't be bought with dollars

They are bad people with bad intentions, they snitch on American citizens who are brown. They partner with ICE and do not protect the people who work or volunteer for them. They price gouge even though its all donated. Bad business with bad management.

We bought a microwave from habitat in Tulsa. They said they we had 14 days to return it, when we tried to return it they refused to take it back and give us a refund. We are a elderly couple living on a fixed income being cheated out of almost a hundred dollars really hurt us.

On December 27, 2025 I went to Restore in Kemptville and bought an older stove that they had for sell. I said would it be a problem for me to pick it up in a weeks time. Lisa who manages the store said "No problem" I said afterwards to Lisa "It will need a good cleaning, the oven part is filthy with grease and grime" Lisa said in a rude manner "That's why were selling it so cheap" and walked away? I came by a week later and told the gentleman that was working in the loading dock that I am here to pick up my stove. He helped me load it onto my trailer , which was nice of him. I thanked him and drove home. When I arrived at home I took the tarp off and inspected it and found scratches all over the front panel with paint scrapings on the elements that were not there when I had bought the stove a week earlier? My wife saw this also and said "We did not buy this like this!" This was deliberate! Each dial had deep scratches as if someone had used a rough gritted sandpaper. I was appalled to this kind of treatment from this store. I wrote a letter to Restore management and told them what I am telling you and have heard nothing back from them in regards to the stove?

I can NOT believe the prices here, is this a joke? this is a place for low income people? you need to be ASHAMED charging these prices, better off buying brand new and be the only owner,, ABSOLUTLEY DISCUSSTING.

A month ago, I received a recommendation to donate my high-end furniture to this organization. The furniture is now available in the store with an estimated value of $13,000 to $14,000. We also paid over $450 for the pickup service. Unfortunately, after numerous failed attempt to obtain the receipts, to this day we have not received any receipts for our donations, nor has anyone reached out to us. We have more truck load of items to donate, most of which are high-end furnishings. Due to the organization's practices, we are now looking for alternative options to make our donations. After reading numerous negative reviews, we now understand our situation, as others have experienced similar difficulties in obtaining donation receipts.

Started by being impressed by ethos but saw illegal cigarettes being sold from the premises (Lisburn, NI) when I was dropping things off. Could barely get access to drop off zone. Woman (& her dog):was there to buy cigarettes! Took up 2/3rds access space.

Salt Lake City store is very unorganized, not many items priced. When I asked about a price the gentleman asked me what it was, he didn't know, looked up the item online and gave me that price. Hard to justify spending full price when items are used, possibly damaged and can't be returned for a refund. The store is full of items. I would suggest making deals with customers, working to get stuff moving out the door. If someone actually knows/understands the item sell it to them. So much stuff comes in everyday and The Restore is acting like its gold. Most is junk, If someone is willing to use the item, do everything in your power to get the item out the door.

There was a sign for doors $25 dollars. When I went to purchase a door they tried charging $70. It was a single interior door. No frame, no pre cut slots or key hole slots. This store has been rude with us in prior sales. We so at a lot of different locations and this particular location in Athens, Ohio. I nor my family ever step foot in this location again. The Manager himself is quiet rude,as well as a few of the women working there. There was some of the younger gentlemen there that was very helpful and nice to do business with. I feel if there is a sign telling prices for such things and the item it setting with said items the prices are all listed as such. Especiallywhen there WASN'T a separate price listed on said product. Even have different types doors, such as screen doors and exterior doors are all separated in different areas. This location is the worst o e I have ever been to, amd I have traveled from TN , KY, and Ohio stores.
