I WAS LOOKING FOR A PEN FOR MY DAUGHTER AS AN EXAM PRESENT, I RECEIVED GREAT COMUNICATION AND OUTSTANDING HELP AND SERVICE WILL DEFINITELY BE USING MR PEN AGAIN. Thank you for making my present extra special.
Goods delivered less than 24 hours after ordering.
Unfortunately goods were not as described. THEY WERE FAR FAR BETTER!!!
Would have been a steal at twice the price.
Not often I've seen or received service like this.
I WILL BE BACK FOR MORE!!!
A big thank you from "The Padre" and me ;-)
I've gotten a Italix Parson's Essential in medium cursive stub. Delivery to Singapore was quick and arrived within 2 weeks. The pen has a nice heft. And most importantly, the nib was supremely smooth, immediate start up and no flow issues. It wrote very well, better than some of my customs; and is a fairly wet writer - which suits me. Overall, very satisfied with this purchase and at the price, I only have one complaint. The pocket clip is a little tight...how churlish of me. Very happy with this pen.
I received my new Parsons Essential Amber last Saturday after ordering it only the Monday before. Amazing to receive it so quickly since I'm in the U.S. This is my first Italix pen so I didn't know what to expect. I was very pleased with the quality and good looks of my pen as well as the comfort and nice writing experience.
I've bough a few pens from this store; they've always been reasonably priced and dispatched quickly.
This time, I had a query about the post and packing charges, which were very unclear, as it the ex-VAT status of all their goods (for a UK consumer website). I phoned (which I wouldn't do again), and was cut short by a clearly irritated person, who seemed to be pretty miffed that I was querying things with him.
He was abrupt and rude, and completely forgot that I was a customer making a fairly reasonable point.
I wouldn't use them again - there are many alternatives.
All in all I received an excellent pen for the money I paid. The service was fast and I have nothing to complain about on that part.
I ordered the Parson's Essential and I love it; Very smooth and crisp lines.
However, although it came highly recommended, I also felt a little like buying the cat in the bag concerning the nib. I would really appreciate it, if there were actual written samples of the different nibs, possibly even camparisons to other widely available pens.
The best online service I have ever received!! Order 10pm Thurs with engraving to be added, arrived first thing Sat am. I was one very happy shopper and had a fantastic present for my friends 50th. Will definitely be using again.
I bought the Parsons Essential on the strength of a YouTube review by sbrebrown. I thought the pen would be good but it is far better than I had expected.
The service from Mr Pen was very good and I am a very happy customer. I will be buying from Mr Pen again very soon.
My goodness! What utter simplicity in ordering a customised nib on a premium pen at prices other pen manufacturers can't offer! With the Italix Parson's Essential and the Churchman's Prescriptor, I'll find it very difficult to justify almost anything from the last of the main pen brands online or what''s left on the high street. Ordering a fine cursive stub for the Essential and, what seems to be the popular broad italic on the Prescriptor, my writing tastes are completely covered. Both pens are solid, and in the case of the Prescriptor, nicely weighty. Caps post securely and balance is natural while writing is smooth and progressive, leaving me to enjoy the simple process of writing with enjoyment; haven't done that in a long time!
What a joy to find a proper italic oblique nib - I have been looking in shops for ages and had come to the conclusion they were no longer made. Then I found your website. My emails enquiring about nib types were promptly answered, my call dealt with most courteously and hey presto the pen arrived within 2 days of ordering. A nice solid box, a free cartridge to get me started immediately and a smashing pen. The nib is smooth and writes crisply. All in all am delighted and would thoroughly recommend your company. Many thanks
So I've just decided I need a new pen, and after a lot of looking around, I settle on the Churchman's Prescriptor. Ordered from Mr. Pen, and arrived within a day or two. Very impressed with the pen, with the website, and with the quality of service. I would have no hesitation in going there again. And now my wife wants a pen from there too...
I recently found this company via Amazon when buying an Italix fountain pen. The nib, as ordered, was not quite right for me, so I contacted Mr Ford(Mr Pen) and discussed the options with him. The nib was exchanged for a finer one without any quibble and at no cost to me (it is the company policy). In all the dealings I have had with this company it is apparent that the customer comes first; what a refreshing approach.
I have now purchased other items from Mr Pen, and whilst they may cost a little more than the high street because of postage, you can guarantee getting a quality product very quickly delivered with superb customer relations.
The engraved ballpoint pen arrived in the post within 24 hours of ordering. The price with engraving and postage was over £10 less than the price I saw for the unengraved pen in a well known London West End store.
As with many, FPN directed me to Mr. Pen to pick up a Parson's Essential Fountain Pen which I opted to have a medium italic on. Thank heavens I have this pen. The rumours are true people, this custom ground nib is smooth as quicksilver and an absolute joy to use. Mr. Pen must be some sort of warlock or captor of the dark arts. This nib is that good. Get one.
One exceptionally pleased customer.
Having purchased and for several months thoroughly enjoyed a Parson’s Essential pen from mrpen.co.uk, when I saw a review of your Churchman’s Prescriptor fountain pen I had to give it a try. So I purchased one along with one each of your 1mm and 1.3mm two-tone italic nibs. As with the Parson’s Essential, the piano laquer on solid brass construction of your Churchman’s Prescriptor fountain pen delivers a substantial pen of elegant design, armed with a lovely smooth, properly wet writing nib/feed combination on a pen of distinction. Although I prefer the section on the Parson’s Essential over the very short, thick-threaded section on the Churchman’s Prescriptor, I do enjoy writing with the Prescriptor for its wonderful nib, and I recommend it on that basis as well on its overall design and construction.
The Parson's Essential - -this is quite simply a brilliant pen. I have been using it now for a few weeks, and it is a joy to write with. I had been researching the price of italic pens for quite a while, and only happened to find out about Italix after contacting a nib grinder. I was initially a bit worried about the apparent bulk of the pen (and it is quite chunky), but the price was amazing - about half of the prices of other pens I'd looked at, there are three colours to choose from (I have Amber, the lacquer finish is beautiful), the nib is ground by Mr Pen (with plenty of choices), and is really wonderful to write with. It is a shame we can't produce the entire thing here in the UK, but Mr Pen really does deserve the highest accolade for this fantastic product.
Requested a new nib from Mr. Pen. Unfortunately it wasn't in stock so Mr. Pen sent an upgraded model at no extra charge. That's what I call service. Can't speak highly enough of the service and speed of delivery once the order was placed.
The Parson's Essential Fountain Pen Amber looks lovely, writes beautifully and was everything it was described as.
If you are looking for a great pen, then look no further. I would recommend the pen and the company to anyone and everyone. Fantastic!
A few days ago, I bought at Mr Pen a very nice fountain Pelikan 150 pen with an "Italic" nib. The pen is beautiful and the italic nib is perfect. Writing with this kind of nib is enjoyable and gives a nice handwriting.
I think the Mr Pen site is worth going to visit as Mr Pen is a very reliable company.
Wonderful service highest standards and very good price on their products
Very quick to solve problems which I might add were caused by me in the first place!
The Parsons Sensual is easily the best fountain pen available under £200 And better than most pens over £200
Actually I meant Parsons Essential, But my phone Dictation system changed this to a better name!
Had seen reviews on the Parsons Italix Pen and purchased one for my collection. I am always leery of ordering from overseas but the transactions was smooth with great communication. The product is just as described by others. Excellent.
Stocks all the fountain pen supplies I could ever need at competitive prices. Ordering online was quick & easy & I was able to use Paypal, which made it even quicker. I treated myself to a Parson's Essential pen & it is even better than the good reviews about it. Very happy. And it cost LESS than the replacement Cross nib I ordered at the same time.
I don't hesitate to recommend this great little company for all your writing needs.
I have just purchased a Parsons Essential which arrived today. It has exceeded my expectations and looks more handsome in my hand than the pictures describe. It is a beautifully balanced pen, the brass liner giving it a presence, but not a weight in the hand. The nib (medium italic) writes smoothly and the results look outstanding on paper. Mr Ford was both informative and helpful, I couldn't ask for better performance from either the pen or the seller.
I placed my order for a new fountain pen and sure enough it arrived the next day. Beautiful pen with the broad italic nib fitted as i requested. Once i started writing though i found the nib to be too broad. Quick phone call, popped it in the post, 3 days and a replacement nib was with me. Product quality, wonderful service, not too mention the remarkable price, (i paid £55 for my new pen, which is better than my parker i paid £275 for), definitely make this company one to recommend and return too.
I was so impress with the B italic nib for Parson's Essential that I bought a M Italics nib also. Initially I had some issues with the B nib but Mr. Ford was kind enough to replace the B nib (he also tested the other parts of the pen) that too free of cost.....
Awesome experience with the pen and the services.
Regards from India
As someone new to using fountain pen, i am fortunate to come across the parson's essential pen. The service was excellent fast delivery and information on the delivery was provided. It was my first time using a stub medium cursive italic nib, the lines was broader then expected but was very smooth, though there was light resistance when writing horizontal lines. Overall, it was the smoothest nib that i have used to this date. I love the design of the pen and it was one of the reason the pen caught my attention. I am looking forward to try the other different nibs that Mr.pen has to offer !
The Parson's Essential fountain pen would be a good "starter" pen for those looking for a high quality and relatively low cost pen and it would also appeal to more experienced users who will find this product well made and attractive.
The transaction with Mr. Pen (England to USA) was perfect in every way with a smooth ordering process and only a few days transit time.
Bookmark the site. Yes, the prices and products are good, but even better than that is the service.
Ordered 4 pen sets on sale and asked for the pen sets to be engraved. I couldn't figure out how to request something and emailed my query through; I was phoned the next morning and treated with humour and charm. Sometimes if you buy a sale item the vendor can't be bothered with you; not at all the case here.
The very next day I had a missed parcel, and when I collected it there were four exquisitely gift-wrapped boxes. I've sneaked a peek inside one: just what I asked for. Everything looks fantastic, they've done a wonderful job. I'm happy and I strongly suspect the recipients will be delighted too!
The shipping was fast and Mr. Ford's email replies were fast and informative, no matter if it's weekday or not. The pen itself, Parson's Essential was exactly how it was advertised: it's a simply wonderful writing instrument, a gorgeous pen. I can't really compared it to anything else since it's kind of my first pen in a long time, but it looks and feels wonderful. If I ever want a second fountain pen, I'll surely browse Mr. pen's website first.
Over the last 4 weeks I have purchased 3 Italix fountain pens from P.J.Ford (Mr.Pen) as well as some Diiamine Ink, 2Parsons Essentials and 1 Churchman's Prescriptor. From the most expensive Pelikan to the cheapest Osmiroid I have sought ideal italic nib(s) and can say that at last I have reached as near perfect as possible. Not only that, but the pens themselves are beautifully crafted and balanced that such elegance of design is rare even in pens many times the cost of both models. With outstanding speed of delivery from receipt of order, good packaging, what more can a customer ask. Indeed I shall purchase more fountain pens in the near future. If I say that I prefer the Prescriptor it is because its weight and its hold personally suite my hand. If it were possible to award more than the 5 star rating then I would give a round 10. Well done "Mr Pen" you have succeed in satisfying my needs for a fountain pen, beyond my wildest dreams. Thank you very much indeed.
I couldn't be more pleased with my recently purchased Parsons Essential. The fit and finish as well as the writing performance of the nib is exceptional. My PE is in blue. a pattern reminiscent of Conway Stewarts of old, very attractive in an understated way which I like a great deal. The clip is a little tight but I guess it will loosen up with use.
As for size, well I should say first that I have broad medium sized hands and my criteria in this respect revolve around how it feels during normal writing. The Parsons feels neither too small or too large which says a lot for its ergonomics. I should also say that my reference pens in saying this are a Pelikan M800, MontBlanc 146 and a large Mont Blanc Boheme( Plain clip,Platinum trim, retractable nib and 135mm capped) which are all approximately the same size.
The nib is superb, wet and very very smooth. The inks I've tried so far are Noodlers Black ,Mont Blanc Midnight Blue and Waterman Florida Blue. My reference for nibs is Pelikan. Over nearly forty years experience with fountain pens I've found Pelikan to be the best. Sorry Mont Blanc fans but that particular crown has to go to Pelikan. Having said that Mont Blanc nibs are excellent and to say that the Parsons nib is the equal of my Boheme for flow and smoothness is no small praise.
My preferred nib is a medium and I ordered my Parsons with a meduim italic nib which is a delight to use and shows off the shading properties of the ink very well( not Noodlers Black which doesn't have any! )
Unfortunately I found the medium italic nib just a fraction too broad for my handwriting especially on cheaper paper which tends to spread the line a little. On better paper its a close run thing but I use my pens for everyday tasks not just letter writing so my pens are workhorses rather than showpeices. But it's not a problem since Mr Pen offer a free nib replacement within thirty days of purchase so I'll go for a Fine italic next and if that doesn't suit then it will be a Medium.
But this is just personal preference and no fault of the Parsons. But it does make me ask what other manufacturer offers a free nib replacement service with their pens? I would call myself a fountain pen User rather than a Collector, I know how easy it is to fall into that particular black hole! and so try to limit my pens to no more than six, keeping the best and selling on the rest. The Parsons Essential is very definitely a 'keeper' and at the current price a must have for any serious pen user.
