Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Considering 3,775 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Customers face immense frustration dealing with unhelpful automated bots, missing funds, and securely locked accounts that remain completely inaccessible for extended periods of time. Consumers frequently struggle with unfair dispute resolutions where financial transactions are badly mishandled and rightful refunds are improperly delayed or denied entirely. The minority of people were satisfied with the platform's reliable core features, easy navigation, and quick daily transaction processing capabilities. Some reviewers also expressed genuine appreciation for effective customer assistance when resolving unexpected account problems and recovering lost funds smoothly and quickly.

PayPal needs to be banned in the Philippines

I set up an account with PayPal, verified my account, uploaded all documents and connect to two banks and a credit card.

My account was ready to go.

Then my employer who pays me in arrears sent me a $50 payment and a $350 payment.

They requested documentation so I uploaded my employment contract then they permanently disabled my account and froze the money I needed to pay my rent and bills for 180 days.

My employer called them and they wouldn’t let him file a chargeback either, nor would they let me refund the payment.

This is criminal, unethical, and has left me in a bad position financially. I had to borrow money to survive while I am employed.

Do not use PayPal for any reason, especially if you’re in the Philippines.

I am filing a report here with our banking system and requesting that PayPal be banned.

This should never happen to anyone. This is not acceptable in any way.

They ban you and home your fund hostage. Singapore support is the worst to top it off. They would tell me one thing, while support in America is telling my employer a completely different story.

I was scammed on Paypal

I was scammed on Paypal. Without my authorisation Paypal paid almost £550 from my credit card to a company that I had not bought a thing from. They refused to help with my claim. I managed to get some of my money back, but am still £182 out of pocket. Paypal just washed their hands of me. I'm struggling to fight this to get my money back due to sheer stress and anxiety Paypal has caused me. I have always used them because they offer help when transactions go badly. But actually all they have done is add to my misery. I can not afford to loose this amount of money through NO fault of my own. The company that Paypal gave my money too refuse to reimburse me, Paypal refuse to reimburse me and they just want me to accept this and disappear. I'm still fighting this and hope Paypal will do the right thing in the end, but its looking doubtful

Ruined mobile site!

I use PayPal regularly.

Today the mobile PayPal page has been updated. What a mess!

Full of adverts and a pain just to find my balance.

Sadly, I will have to stop using PayPal.

Do not pay PayPal credit via dd

Do not pay PayPal credit via dd. They have a nasty habit of taking duplicate payments for the current month statement and also the following month statement, then they refuse to refund as they claim they can calculate their dd as they wish, even though their T&C say they'll never charge more than the statement balance. Scammers.

In My Opinion, Paypal are a Fraudulant Company Who Took My Money and Now I Cannot Access My Account.

I transferred  160 GBP from one paypal account to the other but I cannot access the second paypal account to now transfer the money to my uk bank account because I have an old telephone number to send the access code to.....
I called them and its like a dystopian nightmare where they cannot change the number because they need me to send in an authorization form with ID......but my id address is different to the account address and they cannot change the id address without an access code ...and on and on.

Bottom line is I cannot access the money in the account.

I cannot even complain as the email address they gave bounces back.

They have also taken 45 GBP from the money paid into the account to cover  payment but cannot tell me what the payment is for.

Allow fraudulent sellers to operate on…

Allow fraudulent sellers to operate on their platform. Buyers guarantee is not worth a thing. The claim to have reviewed your case, then side with the seller, even though they have sold a defective item. Not sure what additional evidence you can provide when it’s a faulty battery? It either works or it doesn’t.

Customer support not interested in helping either. They just read the script.

Use an alternative platform.

I’ve been waiting for a $794.00 refund for over a month now. They have all of the paperwork showing the purchase was never shipped. PayPal reps don’t know what they’re talking about. They lie. They say they will handle my refund & they don’t. They’re crooks.

I'd give 0 stars if I could. They blocked a "suspicious" payment on my credit card, I phoned up and told them it wasn't suspicious and it needed to be put through. They said they have put a 72 hour block on my card that can't be manually removed. So now I've missed an important payment deadline! Thanks PayPal what kind of financial institution can't revoke a block that they have put on!

Kept huge fees when I accidentally sent wrong currency

I accidentally sent money to a friend in the wrong currency. When he refunded it so I could send him the correct amount, PayPal kept the fees (over $1000), which I had to cover since it was my mistake. PayPal refuses to waive the fees. They say there's nothing they can do it's just how thier system works. Sounds like a terrible system to me.

⭐ 1/5 — Five Months of Promises, Zero Delivery

PayPal approached INTHEZONE Electric Mobility with a proposal to implement their BNPL solution for our business. It sounded promising at the beginning. Five months later, nothing has been installed, nothing has been completed, and the entire process has gone nowhere.

What makes the experience worse is the account management. Messages have repeatedly been ignored, follow-ups have produced little or no meaningful progress, and there seems to be absolutely no urgency or ownership of the situation.

For a company the size of PayPal, this level of service is astonishingly poor. You would expect a dedicated account manager and a business proposal to lead to an organised onboarding process. Instead, we received months of delays, silence and wasted time.

If PayPal approaches your business offering BNPL integration, do not assume that having an account manager means anything will actually get done. Based on our experience, the sales pitch was far better than the delivery.

Five months to install nothing is not a delay — it is a complete failure of execution.

Hopeless experience. One star only because zero stars is not an option.

Title: Password changed with no verification — recovery process is broken

I received an email saying someone sent me a $0.01 "test" transfer. Five minutes later, my account password was changed — not by me. I never received a verification code on my registered phone or email authorizing that change, which raises serious questions about PayPal's account security.

When I tried to recover my account, the recovery screen showed two unrecognized US phone numbers (apparently added by whoever accessed my account), along with email, WhatsApp, and photo ID verification options. I verified my identity via email successfully, but the "Verify your photo ID" step fails every time with a generic "An error has occurred" message — with no further explanation and no way to retry it meaningfully.

Since this happened on a Sunday, phone support isn't available until Monday, leaving me completely locked out of my account for over 24 hours with no way to secure it or confirm what happened.

For a platform that handles people's money, I expected:

A verification code sent to my original trusted contact method before any password change is allowed.
A working, reliable identity verification process for account recovery — not a generic error with no next steps.
Some form of emergency support outside of Monday–Friday business hours for compromised accounts.

I'll update this review once I'm able to speak with support and get the account back, but the process so far has been frustrating and concerning from a security standpoint.

Worked well for years till they wanted more information that the app wouldn't accept so account went dormant for a few years and now the app has changed but now its too late to save a good standing account. Very disappointed in what transpired here.
