Will never shop here again!!

I purchased a pair of jogging bottoms that my husband wore once. They bobbled completely from top to bottom. We tried to return with in 6 days of purchase to be told I could not exchange or refund as they had been over worn….. again we had the trousers 6 days and worn once.
We had the full receipt and could show the bobbling covering all areas of the trousers and could not possibly be from over use just a very poor quality material.
There was no customer service what so ever and basically told tough, you’re stuck with them so I contacted the main customer service email to be told sorry you were treated in this terrible way but they can only deal with online orders?????? So much for head office?

I would usually be a regular customer of this store but will never use it again…
No effective return policy and definitely no customer service….
My advice avoid, avoid, avoid!!!

Wow this company is the pits

Wow this company is the pits. Ordered 2 tracky bottoms on 12 Dec, never received, then had a tracking note to say they were returned to HO on 22 Dec, here I am one month on, no refunds, customer services say they don't have them and don't seem interested. Guess it's going to be a small claims court action, what a pain. Will never buy from them again.

Mayflower Basildon Branch

I bought two pairs of trainers 2 weeks ago on 11/05/2021 from the Sports Direct store based at Mayflower retail park Basildon Essex. They were both a pair of 'Shaq' Trainers.

The first pair began to fall apart on the first day, I returned these the next day and was told I could only get store credit, I argued this point due to the selling of faulty goods and I was then provided a full refund for them. Alarm bells should have been sounding in my head at that point about the quality of this brand and the staff's poor knowledge about consumer law.

A week later after having worn the other trainers only 3 times for causal walking around I noticed the bottom of the right trainer was almost completely worn, the left side showed almost no signs of wear. This is quite obviously some sort of flaw with the trainer. I have never heard of a trainer sole becoming completely worn after 3 uses on one trainer only.

On 01/06/2021, being the first day off work since realising the fault with the trainers was the first time I could get back to the store I bought them from. When I got there, I spoke with two shop floor staff about the problem who both stated I needed to speak to a manager. When I requested to speak to the manager, they both stated that he didn't like being disturbed for complaints and initially refused to get him. After some querying this one of them eventually plucked up the courage to go and get the manager to come see me.

Eventually a man who said he was the manager came and saw me. I explained the issue and showed him the receipt. He replied stating the company does not refund for wear and tear. I pointed out this is clearly not a wear and tear issue, one it was only a week or so since the purchase, two they have only been worn 3 times for light walking around and three only one trainer has lost all its sole tread so unless he was suggesting that I hop around on one foot everywhere then this is clearly a design flaw with the trainer. The manager proceeded to ask me private information such as where I worked and where I had exactly walked with the trainers, which in itself was ridiculous. He then said, "they are basketball trainers, they aren't designed for walking around". This was probably the most stupid excuse I have ever heard in my life, so basically what he is suggesting is that a trainer that is designed for a high intensity sport can't be used for walking in? What exactly does he think basketball players do? Hover or fly perhaps so the trainers never touch the floor? He continued to refuse a refund. I even explained that I was happy to accept store credit or an exchange but he also refused that.

In the end, I was getting nowhere and stated I wanted to make a complaint and he gave me an email to email. When I asked for his name, he refused. I explained that I needed just a name or employee number so I could reference speaking to him in the complaint but he still refused to give me anything.

I have contacted my credit card company and they advised that I should document a request for a refund from the company first. I was also advised to remind Sports Direct of their obligations under the consumer rights law that:
If something is faulty then I can request a refund from the company within 30 days
Goods must be 'fit for purpose' AND 'last a reasonable length of time'
Goods must be 'satisfactory' and 'as described'
The customer does not have to contact a manufacturer direct regarding a faulty product, this should be taken up with the trader they bought the item from
In line with basic points from the consumer right law above I can confirm that I have requested a refund within 30 days for a faulty product. The trainers have not been fit for purpose and have NOT lasted a reasonable length of time. No one buys trainers expecting that they can only be worn 3 times. The goods have fallen well below a satisfactory level and I have contacted contacted Sports Direct as the seller of this product to me directly.

On 01/06/2021 I sent off a complaint to which the email was acknowledged. Over a month later now and Sports Direct are yet to contact me about this!

AWFUL COMPANY, AVOID AT ALL COSTS

My 13 year old son bought nearly £200…

My 13 year old son bought nearly £200 worth of fishing gear online with his birthday money. One of the fishing rods snapped on second use when a fish attached itself to it! Some fishing rod that was! I contacted Sports Direct and was asked to send it back to them at my own expense for inspection. I have just found it returned on my front doorstep, saying that the fishing rod shows heavy wear and tear and therefore no exchange or refund could be issued! What’s the point of a fishing rod if the end snaps when you catch a f****** fish!!! Disgraceful company, have spent a lot of money there over the years, but will never shop there again.

Incredibly poor service and no regard…

Incredibly poor service and no regard for customer satisfaction.

On 21st Dec 2018 I ordered some E-vouchers as Christmas gift for my son. They were to be sent directly to his email address. Got an email confirming order on same day. On 25th Dec 2018 I then got a further email . . . ."Your order has been collected by your nominated courier". . . . Thought that was strange? They were E-vouchers to be sent electronically via email to my son!

Upon speaking to my son at Christmas, no vouchers or email received by him. I contacted Sports Direct online and got this . . . "Thank you for your query.
Your order SD400000******** has been picked and packaged and is awaiting collection by our courier. We have several collections throughout the day and so we expect that you will receive your order within the next couple of days" . . . .

Bear in mind the order was for E-vouchers to be emaied - not packaged and delivered by a courier!

Sent a further 3 emails to them enquiring further on this and eventually on 18th Feb got an email to confirm the E-vouchers were sent . . "as per my instructions to the email address below" . . .

However the email address they quoted was my own email address!

The email they sent further added . . ."Having checked the vouchers bought, I can confirm this is still active and therefore can only assume you requested for this to be emailed across to the incorrect address" . . ..

So in effect telling me I ordered them to be delivered to my own email address! However I know this is not the case and further the e-vouchers were never received by me. If they had, I would have simply forwarded them via email to my son - matter resolved!

They asked if I wanted the vouchers forwarded to my sons email address (which they quoted correctly). I confirmed that that they should be sent to his email address.

Heard nothing further from them on this matter and finally in despair emailed them on 21st Mar. I advised they had not resolved the matter and delivered the vouchers and I required a refund on my payment. Further if they failed to do so within 7 days of the email, I was going to lodge a claim in the small claims court. Exactly 7 days later I got the following email . . "I have since raised this issue with my manager who has agreed on refunding the original method of payment.
The voucher has now been cancelled and a refund of a £100 has been processed. Please allow 2 - 5 working days for the funds to appear in your account.

They did refund 3 days later.

I cannot believe how poor the customer service is for this company. They do not provide anything which even approaches reasonable customer service. It would appear they understand that when the customer raises an issue this is the perfect opportunity to have the customer leave with a positive experience. Not once was any apology offered, despite numerous opportunities to do so.

I would never use them again and would never recommend them to anyone.

Poor service

Poor service. Returns policy is a credit note!
To be expected as their billionaire owner has them on zero hour contracts.
Avoid this company and Mike Ashley at all costs!

Pretty poor website backed up with a pretty poor service!

Pretty poor website backed up with a pretty poor service from both the retailer and the customer services deptartment. INitial email updates on progress were OK. Courier emails about delivery were OK. Order didnt arrive and the courier didnt post a card saying they had tried to deliver (There were emails from the courier on 3 occasions saying they were delivering) Then nothing. I called SportsDirect after hunting for a phone number and filling out enqury forms on 2 occasions with no reply. The call centre gave me a long intro narrative, saying they would be with me and directing me to the website, but then ends with "We are experiencing a high volume of calls, please call back later.... Then it hangs up..." this was the same several days in a row at different times, which is a very poor customer experience. Evetually they replied to a direct email to customer services with a simple, "Your item was returned to sender so we are refunding your purchase" !?!?!?! Erm, right, OK then? No, sorry, no trying to look after the customer, nothing really. In 2018 retailers really need to be much better. Even the budget ones. All this took 2.5weeks.

AVOID, AWFUL SERVICE. WOULD RECOMMEND GO TO ANOTHER STORE TO SHOP INSTEAD

If I could give 0 stars I would. ordered a personalised tshirt and when the delivery came they delivered the wrong size personalised tshirt. I had to take pictures of it and they arranged to send it back to them. which took me phoning them as they don't reply by email. then I chase them up all week stating it had been delivered and them saying them haven't got it. but a few days later I received it back from there warehouse saying they don't accept personalised items back. but they personalised the wrong size tshirt then what I ordered. called them back and they didn't even apoglise and said to resend it. I refused as most likely be returned to be again. I did say I will take in store but they said they will organise a collection and I aid if will have to be a morning as not willing to take a whole day off work for there mistakes twice. called on collection day to confirm and was told all day collection when I said it had to be a morning and they confirmed it will be. the staff member was rude. I asked to speak to a member of management and they basically said if they aren't busy then they will call back as they didn't take the call. there is no customer service and I will say avoid at all costs. you will waste a lot of time and affect to resolve and they will never do anything to help. the issue is still on going. most likely will have to do a charge back.

Click and Collect £5 Voucher Rip off

Received email for a £5 voucher when you place a click and collect order at Sports Direct. After going through the motions of placing my online order to collect at our local store I was being charged £4.99 for delivery......£4.99 for delivery when I was picking up an item from their store, an item that they already had on the shelf. I did not complete the order and went into the store to ask was there an error with the online order system, only to be told it is a way of encouraging people into the store.
It worked, it got me into the store and quickly encouraged me to leave the store and never to buy anything from Sports Direct ever again. I will also make sure as many people as possible know about this rip off.

Incidentally, I found the same product elsewhere on line and purchased from them. Serves you right Sports Direct, not that you probably give a damn anyway.

I also understand that you have to spend the £5 voucher on the same day.

shocking Staff

I Brought a pair of trouser for my son. With reduced label on £4 on and brought down by staff member. As another member staff was about to scan. The other member of staff wipped price tag off saying sorry that was last weeks deal. £9.50 is the price. When speaking to manager she was very paternising and rude is an understatment. I did buy trousers at full.price but disgusted with service. I spend around 1500 a year on our football team i run there but sorry no longer will use after this disgrace and un proffressalism.
