June 1, 2013 I was quoted $174.50 for 5 text books in "good" condition. Some highlighting and some notes written in margin. June 3, 2013 packed and shipped my books. June 13, 2013 check for $174.50 delivered to my mail box. No complaints, company performed as promised, I will do business with them again.
I had a HORRIBLE experience working with TextBooksRUs. They agreed to buyback 8 of my pristine, clean textbooks. A few days later I received an email from them saying that 2 of my books were "lost," something that was impossible since they were shipped from a respected company and in a single box. I therefore received NO money for those two books. I was essentially robbed. They purposefully only us USPS or FedEx for shipping, since these companies are very difficult to trace past packages. This is a horrible, worthless, despicable company. DO NOT sell your books back to them nor should you buy books from they. They are trying to scam and rob you. Go elsewhere! Do not be fooled by their high buyback prices. This company is AWFUL!!!!!
To keep it concise:
I sent one box of about 20 books and got $204.13.
I printed a shipping label on 5/28/13. They paid the shipping - via Federal Express.
I sent the books a few days later. Either 5/30 or 5/31.
I got an email at 12:33pm on 6/4 saying they received my package.
I got a 2nd email at 1:36pm on the same day saying it was checked in.
I received a check dated 6/4 on Saturday 6/8/13.
Most of my books were in very good condition. I was a little concerned about the most expensive book, a Foundations engineering text for which they paid $66, because the front cover was a little loose, i.e., the binding wasn't in the best of shape. But it was in overall good condition.
But, I got the full quoted price quickly and with no questions asked.
So, the bad reviews are likely from people who sent books in very poor condition.
I'm grateful and a bit surprised it went so well!
I sold 5 books. I pay over a hundred for each book 2 years ago while in Graduate School. I decided to sell the books for around $20 to $28 each to this people. After they got my books, they changed the refund price. According to them I did not send the right book (for one book) and I another book was damage. All books were brand new and the correct ones. I am very disappointed, they did not even offer to ship back and they want me to believe that they will recycle two books that I know are brand new and the correct ones. It's a shame people like these are in this business.
I have purchasing everything online for years. I have never had a worse experience! Absolutely terrible. After a week of contacting this seller, I still have received NO help in resolving a package that the u.S. Postal Service says was NEVER SHIPPED. I emailed twice and telephoned TextbooksRus and they continue to insist that there is nothing they can do at this time. I should have read their reviews before doing business. AVOID AT ALL COSTS
I wish I had read these reviews before I sold my books. Sold a bundle of books for I will admit only 25$. The main bulk of this money was a textbook which they offered to pay 15$ (already a low price, but I just wanted to get rid of them). They credited me only for the bundle of other books and said the typical "water damage/stain" line. Of course this was used for the most expensive book, even though all the other ones were in the same condition (which was good). I refuse to let them steal my money like this and am currently looking for options of either receiving my book or money back. If you see this PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, IT IS A HUGE SCAM.
I am seriously confused by all of these awful reviews! They told me I would get around $150 for all my books, which was the highest price I could find. I sent them in after about 2 days of making my order , and about 2 days later, i got a confirmation e-mail saying they received my textbooks. I just got my $150 check, and it has been only about a week and a half since my original order date. The process was very fast, and I am BEYOND satisfied. I can't believe there are so many bad reviews! My experience was amazing!
I have never, in the four years I have been in college, had a bad experience with this company. In fact, I would brag to my friends at how good of a company they were. I recently sent them my books for buyback and the price came up to around $150. I sent my books and they arrived and were processed very quickly. I checked my Paypal to see I was only given $70 back. They would not take my $80 book back because they claim it had "water damage." I originally paid much more than $80 for the book to begin with. I am aware that the first few pages of the book were not in the best shape, but honestly I never used it and it was SOLD TO ME in that condition. All of the pages were clear and readable. There was nothing wrong with it, other than a few bent pages. I have sent them worse looking books in the past which they took. BUT, they do NOT send you the book back if they do not "buy it back." Basically, they got a very expensive textbook for free. They did not pay me for it, instead they claim they will recycle that. (And by recycle, I am sure they mean sell it for over $100 on their website.) I am so disappointed in this company. The way I see it, unless they pay me for it the book DOES NOT BELONG TO THEM. I WILL NEVER AGAIN DO BUSINESS WITH THEM!
If I could give the negative stars I would. We sent back our books at the end of the term. We sent them back in exactly the same condition we received them. Textbooksrus then charged us over a hundred and thirty dollars for a used book and after charging our bank account they decided to send an email saying that a book had water damage. We sent them any email explaining it was fine when it left us and we wanted to see a picture of the book and the box it was sent in. They never emailed us back. They charge your account without permission and make you pay for something that the SHIPPING company damaged. Biggest scam I have ever seen!!!
first I sold them a stack of my books, shipped them one day and they were there the next day. I didn't receive a payment until two weeks later. I just recently sold the one more book and gave them my paypal in hopes that the payment would be quicker and yet its still been a week since payment has been "Issued". This company is very slow
This company should be removed off Amazon's seller list. It's now a week since I ordered a book from them and I still haven't received it - totally unacceptable, especially when they were advised it was needed urgently so my granddaughter could prep for an end of term exam.
I sent my books to this place and they pay me $20 for one and pay NOTHING for the others that they quoted me on and on top of it all, do not even return MY book to me. They "recycle" the books they do not return. This place is a JOKE!!!! I will NOT stop until I let everyone know what a bullshit operation this is!!!!
I bought a book from them and when I received it it was an.international version with ISBNs that did not match the listing. They made me pay a restocking fee for shipping the wrong item.
Customer service is atrocious it usually took them 48-72 hours to get back to me. Don't ever use these guys. They should be shut down.

Bought a game from them. They canceled my order. I went out and bought it somewhere else. Then they shipped me a copy after all. Then they were all pissed off when I told them I didnt want the game. I said I'd ship it back on their dime but they wanted me to pay. Total BS.
I ordered a few books from here last week. I pay 30 dollars extra to get one the next day and just 4 bucks to get the other one whenever. I never got the book that pay so much to ship and I got the other one Friday. I emailed them, didn't get a reply back until today! They tell me that they have cancelled my order. So, I go to another website and order the same book (for less and faster might I add). I get on my email 5 or so hours later... AND THEY TELL ME THEY HAVE SHIPPED MY BOOK?! So now I have paid almost 140 bucks for the same book because these people cannot be honest... I expect to send my book back and demand my money back! And what's with not having a phone number? Sketchy. I will never order from this site again! Remember, people are more like to tell 8 people bad things about a place rather than 8 good things.
Most textbook rental sites will accept a textbook if it is shipped by the due date, this company will not and now they are charging me $150 when I only paid $23.50 for it. That is absolutely ridiculous. They didn't even notify me about this policy. I will not be rental textbooks from them again.

I ordered a book thinking that I would get something I could use. Turns out they are part of some shady illegal operations and are distributing books that are not to be sold in the United States, reading the information page inside the front cover it says "FOR SALE IN ASIA ONLY" and "If you have purchased this book within the United States and Canada, you should be aware that it has been wrongfully imported without the approval of the publisher of the author." I also got a reply form the company stating "
It is legal for international editions to be bought and sold in the US. Also once the item has been delivered to us your refund will be processed.
I have been playing email tag with the company all morning stating that I want the legal version of what I ordered because the page numbers are all off from what is being referenced in my online class (so I can't even compare to see if this is usable) is not matching the book. If this company is going to do international business, then they need to learn how to inspect shipments upon delivery and shipment to customers. This behavior is completely unacceptable!
I ordered a book last week, paid for the extra shipping to get it over night, etc. Only to find out the next day that the order had been canceled, with the reason that it was out of stock. Why was the book on there to begin with? I checked and sure enough the book was still listed but the price was now higher. I took my business elsewhere to purchase my book. That being said, they said the were going to offer my a refund. I noticed today that no refund was present on my account or on my card so I had to email them. It wasn't until I emailed them that they even processed the refund! If you're going to cancel an order then why didn't you refund it from the beginning? Oh and when I emailed them about the dissatisfaction with their service I basically got the reply of Sorry, there isn't much we can do. How about updating your inventory? That might help. Now, don't get me wrong, I've bought from them before and had no problem. But after this, I will never buy from them again.
Horrible, horrible experience. My book never came. I paid for the fasting shipping available. After a fleet of emails, I never heard back from textbooksrus. There is not contact phone number on the website. I'm out $65 dollars and I still have to order another book otherwise I'll be even further behind in class. Trying to save a little money has cost me way more. I feel robbed.
I ordered an international textbook, and they guaranteed it to be the same as the regular book. It was and i paid a whole lot less for it too. The shipping was fast took 3 days for standard shipping. Overall I had a good experience with this company.
I'm confused and a little sad that so many people had problems with these guys. I was very impressed. Buying from the bookstore on my campus would've cost about $300 but it was only $60 here. The shipping was a little delayed but that wasn't a big deal.
I was not impressed with Textbooksrus because they only allow you to extend your rental ONE time.
They did not give me enough time with my rental and it was due during finals. I wasn't aware that you could only extend one time because I've extended multiple times from other better companies.
I ended up having to buy my rental which was very expensive...just because I needed it an extra week.
Very sad because I do not have the money for it and I definitely do not need it after this week.
I'm sure the extending policy was in the fine print, but I didn't think it was an issue because I don't have these problems with other companies.
I received my books unacceptably late, received two books that were not mine, received one out of two incorrect books ordered by me, upon returning 3 of 4 books they refuse to refund me claiming they didn't receive the book I returned and only the books I did not order but returned.
Textbookrus.com offers competitive prices for textbooks but does not offer great customer service. They are clearly in it for profit.
I'm only giving them 2 stars because:
1. I was never responded to after contacting them about an issue with my order;
2. They overcharged me (they refunded me eventually but it was ANNOYING);
3. Their "free shipping" is USPS Media Mail, which is as slow as a snail;
4. Their "free shipping" cannot be tracked, so you have no idea when to expect your order.
ONLY order from them if you have patience and extra time to deal with their mishaps.
I ordered an accounting book for a class from this company. I called and was told an international edition would be sent, but it was the same as the US edition. I got my book. It was in great shape, I must admit. There was a sticker on the book that said, among other things, "The content is identical to the U. S. Edition." Imagine my surprise when the problems I was assigned from my class were totally different. I called, and the very rude customer service person told me, "I don't know what your problem is, you're still learning accounting." When I said the website, customer service, and a sticker on the book itself said it was IDENTICAL, she told me, "Well, the problems may be different and stuff, but you're still learning accounting." When I asked her if she understood what identical meant, she got very defensive and offered me a refund if and when I return the book, but I now have homework due in 3 days and no book to do it with. DON'T BUY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!!!!

ordered a textbook for school, but it never came. asked them about it several times and they said they'd locate another copy for me. waited another 6 months
finally i got fed up and asked for my money back. all of a sudden they stopped responding to my emails. still haven't gotten my money back. i've essentially paid for a text book i never got
i've resorted to filing a complaint to get my money back
1. I NEVER received an e-mail confirmation of when it was shipped or even if it was ordered. I believe I ordered it on the 26th.
2. I paid $22 to have it shipped Federal Express 3 day. The packing label states it was picked up on August 27th by Federal Express. I expected it to arrive within 3 business days, Tuesday September 2nd at the latest. 28th overnight, 29th is 2 days, the 9/2nd is 3 business days. It just arrived today the September 3rd at 1:30 PM.
3. I ordered it Fed Express 3 day because my daughters class was this morning the 3rd at 9:30 AM. If it wasn't going to be here Tuesday I wouldn't have ordered it. It is clearly stated that Federal Express 3 day is one of your highest level of shipping. its also on the lFed Exp label.
4. Since I didn't receive an e-mail from you (textbooksrus) confirming the order or the shipment I assumed it wouldn't be here on time or you somehow lost the order. So I had my daughter purchase a more expensive book from the school last evening at 4:30 pm so she would be properly prepared for her next morning class.
5. What's strange is I know you know my e-mail address because you spam me all the time with advertisements,
6. Call your own customer service number once, what a mess that is!!!!! You can't get through. You can't even leave a voice mail because the mailbox is full.
