Absolutely shocking company

Absolutely shocking company. Ive had 2 encounters with them and they were both negative.

In January I ordered a bike to be delivered in 11 days. 4 weeks went by and after being told EVERY week that it'll be there in 2 days. It si ply never showed up so I got a full refund after they offered me the same bike in a different, awful colour. What happened to the one I ordered?

I gave this company the benefits of the doubt and tried to buy something online in April using their price match promise.

I emailed them with the product and the cheaper one available elsewhere, simply to be told 'we cant match that price'. Its actually laughable, 'price match PROMISE', but 'we cant match that price'.

1. They price match? No they don’t, I supplied a uk company that supplied the EXACT bike, same spec, everything, and a well known uk company, they emailed and said ‘No’, no reason, I asked a reason, no reason given,
I Ordered a bike to be delivered in 5 days to the store (as it showed on the delivery of the website)
Didn’t hear anything, I called got told the same day as I was meant to pick up the bike, it won’t be there, 5 days delivery on the website, 3 weeks delivery when you call.

The company want to scam you, the bike I ordered VIA phone was £60 more expensive than their own website for the same bike, also 150 more than other website, despite the fact they claim they price match.

They offer great bikes, but please check the prices and policies before purchase

I had a look on their website at a couple of bikes and went into the Totton (Southampton) branch.
I had a warm greeting from Phil G and very friendly and helpful chat with him whilst purchasing a hardtail mountain bike. Great store with a relaxed vibe. Certainly recommend them on my experience today. Look forward to dropping in again!

Had problems with a binding brake on…

Had problems with a binding brake on back wheel. Very helpful staff. Tim was able to fit the repair in straight away which was a great help. A new brake cable has made it much safer to use. I also discovered my helmet wasn’t adjusted correctly so now am able to ride without it slipping over my eyes Thankyou to all the staff.

Absolute lifesavers

Absolute lifesavers! I was in a massive pre-trip bind, after Amazon let me down, needing a specific SRAM XG-1250 10-36T cassette for a fondo in Italy this weekend. Not only did the team at Walton have it in stock locally, but they also price-matched it without any hassle.

To top it off, they went the extra mile and dug out an internal Centerlock lockring from the workshop to ensure my new wheel build was ready to go. Proper cyclist-to-cyclist service. Special thanks to the team for the help—Tuscany is calling, and thanks to you, the bike is ready!

Disappointing

Ordered item, which even now states on the website 'in stock online', however following a telephone call it was not in stock at all. After no contact and the quoted dispatch time passing, I called them to be told that they were hoping to put an order in with the manufacturer in the next few days and then when the items come in, they will dispatch mine. This may not have been that bad if they had just contacted to confirm the situation but zero contact and an open ended order.

Refund requested as lost faith in the company and gent on the phone (whose name i wont mention as he seemed nice enough) could not offer any suitable timescale on when i will receive my item. On the plus side, the refund was processed instantly.

Great bike at a fantastic price

Great bike at a fantastic price. Easy set up & everything extremely well packaged. Arrived within 5 days of placing the order. Couldn’t be happier & looking forward to some winter miles whilst the road bike hibernates! 10/10 to 99Bikes. Cheers 😆

Good bike and good online help.

Had a couple of issues, with website stock, and my order, contacted the shop and the guys tried there hardest and helped fix the problem. A different bike was agreed on and they got it checked and sent out asap. Great bike at a great price.

Don't sell what is advertised

Paid 1499.99 for a bike which should have been 2499.99. Advertised as having a full shimano grx groupset, but came with cheap parts fitted instead. I have complained but not yet had a response.

Bad experience. Avoid.

My bike needed a new front derailleur which was replaced under Shimano’s warranty. They told me it would take 1-2 weeks and that they’d send my bike off to Shimano for a small admin fee.

The whole process in fact took 3 weeks meaning I missed a sportive that I’d paid for. Not the end of the world.

They then told me that the bike hadn’t been sent away, they’d just been sent the part to fit and they were now charging me labour and the admin fee. Again not the end of the world but expectations haven’t been managed well in both these counts,

On the day my bike was ready I was told that if I don’t pick up my bike within 3 days (which they’ve had a week longer than expected) that I’d be charged a daily fee for taking up space on their shop! The cheek!

Picked up my bike, begrudgingly paid the increased fee and got it home to find two major issues:
1. The front derallieur hasn’t been setup properly and makes a terrible noise like the chain is constantly rubbing against it. Etube corrections do not help so I need to take it to another bike shop to see what’s going wrong.
2. My Di2 shifter battery is completely dead. It was full when I sent it in to 99 bikes, so myself and club members suspect that it has been lent against something with a shifter button constantly being pressed for 3 weeks. They’re niche batteries to source, although not expensive.

Overall, just crap service, poor expectation management both for time and price of the job, bad attitude towards customers, and I’ve now got stuff to do since getting my bike back to sort their poor workmanship and replace batteries which they’ve drained.

If you’re looking for a Shimano Service Centre, there’s one in Bournemouth which Is try instead. I’d avoid this one.
