Roofing repair

We called Casserley home Improvements to come and look at our roof which has been leaking and causing damp patches in our attic bedroom. Chris came the following day and put an estimate together for some work to remedy the leak. I wasn't happy with the assessment so chris came back the next day (Friday) with his partner Mike who came to give a second opinion and informed us that more work would need doing and give a new estimate to the sum of £5k. I payed them a deposit which was my first mistake.

After removing a section of roof tiles they said the roof was in a much worse state and recommended a full roof strip to provide strengthening timbers for the rafters and renewal of roof battens/membrane and dormer window roof. New estimate of £13k and I was asked to provide a further deposit which I stupidly did.

After a few days of work they showed us some pictures of our stripped back dormer window roof and was told it was "worse than expected" and we would need to pay more Money to cover the works. At this point I had had enough and asked them for a break down of costs for materials and labour which they were not willing to provide. So we knew we were being conned.

I could go on but to summarise we had another roofer Come round and assess the roof leak which they immediately identified as a chimney issue.(which was confirmed by drone survey) So none of the work casserley
had done actually needed doing and didn't address the leak. The roofer also confirmed we had been over charged and quoted a cost of £5k to do the works that casserley had said would cost £13k.

Casserley left the job with tiles off the roof which were broken during work and a section of ridge tiles in need of pointing. We have also noticed water ingress around our dormer window but think this may have happened when the roof was left uncovered the evening when we were approached for more Money.

I write this review In the hope that anyone considering using this Company will think twice. If a review like this had been available while I was researching I could have saved myself a lot of money and stress.
