Pool Service is suspect at best

Pool Service is suspect at best, the franchise we had service our pool initially provided satisfactory service, however when the work required was more than a 5 minute job the service was very unsatisfactory. The franchise did not what to accept responsibility for their horrible service. The service personnel in collaboration with the franchise owner was not customer service driven, skimping on chemicals and providing many excuses for their lack of service. Very disappointed customer, so much so we fired this company and went with what is currently a service provider that cleaned up the mess left by Pinch A Penny and left our pool sparking clean! Do not recommend Pinch A Penny pool service, buyer beware.

Valrico FL store

Store Location - Valrico FL.

Extremely poor customer service. I work full time and cannot ansnswr phone calls, there text was best from of communication. I wasn’t satisfied with the tech and asked nicely for an explanation on certain things and also asked politely if they could do a better job when it comes to cleaning the pool.

I received a text from them with the following:
We do not take any instructions from anyone. We closed the skimmer valve last week to protect your equipment from any damage because the water level is too low, and you are treating us like we are your slaves. We do not like the way you talk. We are closing your account. Please find a different company to service you. We will issue a credit to you shortly.

I was in absolute shock with that customer service. When I proceeded to call the store and speak with a supervisor I explained to him that I am the paying customer to which his response was “so what”. He also then accused me of not answering the phones calls, to which I explained I work full time and do not have that capability. To which he said, “well your calling now aren’t you” he then proceeded to hang up the phone.

I have all the screenshots to prove what I asked was polite and not unreasonable.

DO NOT USE!

We've been using pinch a penny for about 6 months for weekly maintenance. I suspected a few months ago that they were not cleaning the pool and we made a complaint, things seemed to get better. Today I happened to be home sitting at the dining table when the technician showed up. I watched him walk into my backyard with no equipment, take a photo, and walk back to his car. I walked out and asked him what service he provided, he said he vacuumed the pool, cleaned the sides, adjusted the chemicals and skimmed it. I told him he did not do any of that in the :38 seconds. He said he could go back and treat again, I respectfully declined. I called the manager Jennifer who basically said, she looked at the photos and the technicians gps and it doesn't support my account. I told her I watched him and even took a video showing how dirty my pool still is. I have videos as well as when he arrived, sat in car, and walked out, returned and sat in his car again. She was very argumentative and the conversation wasn't going anywhere. Needless to say, we will not use them again.

Really can't recommend

We have always serviced our own pool. My Husband is an Engineer and is a busy season of life with a project, so we turned the pool servicing over to "professionals" for a few months. Every week, they hound us about something in a manner that it's an emergency. My Husband is Engineer who can install, maintain and service mechanicals very easily and the little "emergencies" that are literally every week have become so annoying. Yes, we will have a resurface when we're ready. No, we don't consider 18 PSI an emergency. Oh, and all the plants near the pool have started to die. I think they are overkill on the chemicals. I will be cancelling very soon. I don't recommend this company at all.

New Pool Owner Very Pleased

New pool owner. Took their Pool 101 class and Daniel was terrific and extremely helpful. Had a couple problems during the first month and Ray (I call him "The Pool Whisperer") came both times and resolved the issues quickly and expertly. These guys know their stuff and are very much people-persons. Class acts even though Ray is a New England Patriot fan.

Substandard Service

I appreciate the owner Lee. He has always been up front with me. However, I went in today and was not treated like a valuable customer of many years by another staff member. Pinch A Penny currently maintains my pool. I tested my water today at Pinch A Penny and the numbers we way off. They did their service yesterday. I asked why and was asked why I was checking my water. Complete denial amd rude, unprofessional treatment. How about saying 'we will try to be better'. Nothing free, just what I am paying for. Also, They continued to charge me for monthly service after I stopped using them. Incompetence or intentional? Watch for the scripted response.

Disappointment

'm extremely disappointed with the service and professionalism from this pool company. Over multiple visits, the quality and conduct were consistently unacceptable:

The first technician barely worked and spent much of the time on his phone. I requested that he not be sent back.

The second technician responded with an unprofessional attitude any time I asked a basic question.

The third technician repeatedly missed items that were supposed to be completed weekly, leaving me to discover what was skipped after the fact.

This company appears to hire people who take little pride in their work, yet they still charge as if the full service was completed. I have video camera proof documenting technicians not performing the work they're billing for.

When I raised these concerns with management, I was made to feel like I was the problem--despite the evidence. Rather than taking responsibility and correcting the service issues, I was told they would "continue servicing the pool until I find someone else," which felt like a dismissive way to avoid accountability.

The final straw was a phone conversation where I asked, "Why do you think I'm unhappy?" Instead of addressing the documented service failures, the person I spoke to made up a false claim that I was upset because the technicians "don't speak English." That was completely untrue and frankly offensive--especially since my concerns were always about missed services and unprofessional behavior. For the record, I've been a respectful and generous customer and have tipped workers with cash and drinks.

I'm ending service and would not recommend this company to anyone who expects reliable work, honest billing, and professional customer service.

Do not do business with Pinch a penny…

Do not do business with Pinch a penny citrus Park they are a ripoff organization. I hired them to clean my pool the pool was crystal clear and they turned it green for a month. They would not return my calls and would not send anybody out to fix the situation. Very bad people save your money and clean your pool yourself.

Pinch-A-Penny #8

I hired Pinch-A-Penny #8 to take care of my pool while I was gone for the summer. When we returned on a Friday, three days after it was last serviced, the pool was so overgrown with algae we could barely see the bottom of the pool (See attached). The Owner/Manager wouldn’t return my calls and when I finally did get through to him, he refused to come out and look at it and told me to wait until later in the week when the same clown that wrecked it would be back in the neighborhood. I declined, cancelled my service, and spent the next week and a hundred bucks cleaning my pool before I could use it.

Review of Pinch a Penny/Miami hot springs spa/service

This is a new spa review of newly purchased Miami hot springs spa. Being somewhat of a spa connoisseur, I have owned one of these types of spas consistently for 20 years. Their version of it has been low average at best. The cover broke and I ordered a new one, have had filtration issues which was repaired and the remote control has been replaced twice. Recently was told not leave it on the docking/charging station by a maintenance tech.
Recently the service was orchestrated by Rockney who is 5 stars. He did exactly what he said would do. He gave me a date for the parts arrival and service and lo and behold it happened as he said.
Would I buy another one of these exact spas? Probably not, as it has been unreliable. Would I work with Rockney? Definitely, he is great and maybe the one and only person at pinch a penny who actually cares to help you.

Awful work they do not back up.

After speaking with many local pool companies we decided to hire Robert to install our new pool liner May 2024. He appeared knowledgeable and trustworthy. After installation we noticed wrinkles in the pool, which Robert said he would come back and fix. Robert came by in October and attempted to get the wrinkles out, however the wrinkles were only made worse. Fast forward to Summer 2025 and we have sink holes in our pool! We immediately contacted Robert, who came to take a look and said he would be back the next week to fix it. He never showed up. We attempted to contact him through calls, leaving voicemails, sending text and speaking to the co-owner who said she would immediately contact him. It has been over 4 weeks with no response. I would not recommend Robert to anyone. Pool liners are not inexpensive. He took advantage of us and now we are out the funds we paid him and stuck with an awful liner job. They apologized on Facebook, however saying sorry doesn’t fix a thing. Update: So to respond to your post, are you going to fix it or just say sorry and leave us out of over $5,500? Update 2: This company has not fixed any of their work and when they say they are sorry and will address with their employees there is nobody to address and she and Robert are the owners.

I had Exceptional Service Experience at Pinch A Penny #168he pleasure of dealing with…

I had the pleasure of dealing with Pinch A Penny #168 for a warranty claim on my Jandy pool light, and I was genuinely impressed by the exceptional service I received from Randy (the owner) and Cheyenne (the service rep). From the moment I called, I felt welcomed and well taken care of. Randy went above and beyond to ensure my issue was resolved, taking the time to answer all my questions and offering expert advice. It’s clear he genuinely cares about both his customers and his business. Cheyenne was equally outstanding, friendly, attentive, and incredibly responsive. She kept me informed every step of the way, explaining the Jandy warranty process clearly and ensuring I had all the information I needed. Thanks to their professionalism and dedication, the entire experience was smooth and stress-free. I left confident that my pool service was handled correctly. I highly recommend Pinch A Penny #168 to anyone in need of pool supplies or service. You won’t find better customer care anywhere else!

Don't get your water tested here

I've long been suspicious when getting my water tested at this store because the owner always came over to confirm the readings of his employees and punched buttons on the computer before printing out the report. I recently had it tested at this store and received
a lengthy report showing I needed 4 products totaling about $100.00. I then took the same water sample to the Lutz store to have tested and zero chemicals were needed. So clearly the Wesley Chapel store is ripping people off selling them products they don't need. Steer clear of this store.

Disappointed

We had our pool resurfaced by Pinch A Penny Panama City, FL. We thought they did a good job. The warranty states protection against delamination for 10 years, as long as monthly water samples were brought in, which we did... always buying the products needed, and doing as recommended.
A few years later we noticed a small area of delamination and let Jimmy Legg know about it. It took SEVEN MONTHS to get any response, then he quoted us $1,300 to repair a 3x4 inch area under warranty. The entire resurfacing was only about $5,000. I can't understand paying $1,300 for a small area under warranty.
Over the years, we have probably spent approximately $15,000 with this company. We were good customers. We will never do business with them again, nor will we recommended them. So disappointing. I can see now why they have such low ratings. I just wish I would have never done business with them.”
