Jennifer went above and beyond to resolve this issue.

Jennifer kept me updated on progress of my case regularly. She went above and beyond to make sure the issue was resolved. She was incredibly patient with me when I was frustrated and provided thoroughly researched information in detail each step of the way to resolution and I am truly grateful. We had begun to look at other service providers after months of no help with this from other customer service reps.

Debbie was absolutely STELLAR

Debbie was absolutely STELLAR! She was knowledgeable, patient, professional and just a nice person to work with. She helped me make my physician's life a little easier by showing me and walking me through a shortcut template in our EHR. I may even get a raise! Debbie deserves one too!!! Thank you AdvanceMD for having an excellent customer service department second to none!

Positive Experience with AdvancedMD

We have had a very positive experience working with this billing company. Their team is professional, responsive, and knowledgeable, and they have been a valuable partner in helping us manage our billing and revenue cycle needs.

Communication has been consistent, and they are quick to address questions or concerns when they arise. Their attention to detail and commitment to follow-through have made the billing process much more efficient and easier for our practice to manage.

Team members Ashton Harmon, Wendy Larsen, and Diane Dwyrytch has made this partnership great. They are wonderful to work with, very knowledgeable, professional, and helpful with every aspect of the billing platform within their departments.

I would highly recommend their services to any medical practice looking for a reliable, knowledgeable, and professional billing partner. We truly appreciate the support and service they provide to our organization.

Teresa is absolutely wonderful to work…

Teresa is absolutely wonderful to work with! When I call AdvancedMD I will now only call during hours she is working because she is incredibly thorough, patient and genuinely willing to help. She takes the time to fully understand the issue, answers all of my questions and makes sure that every one of my needs is taken care of before ending the call.

What really stands out about Teresa is her attention to detail and her commitment to following through. I never feel rushed and I always feel confident that she is going to do everything she can to find a solution. Her knowledge, professionalism and willingness to go above and beyond make such a difference.

Teresa provides the kind of customer service that is hard to find. I truly appreciate all of the time and effort she puts into helping me. AdvancedMD is very fortunate to have someone like Teresa on their team!

Thank you RCM team

Working with the RCM team at AdvancedMD has been extremely helpful for our new practice. The entire team works very well together and has great communication with our practice. We work with Michelle C and she has been nothing short of a life saver while trying to navigate the billing and insurance side of our office. I know she is always just an email away!

These reviews are all written from the buyer's seat

I'm the Chief Digital Officer of a nationwide behavioral health group of about 200 people. I've also worked with a number of other practices on this system, including larger ones. I founded PracticePath, which does this kind of work, so I'll disclose that up front. This review is about the software, which is the part I can speak to.

The complaints here are real, and most are true of every system in this category. Any of them is intimidating at first. Some useful features cost extra, though I've never seen a practice run the math on what those features return before deciding they're too expensive. And every cloud app has slow days. More often than not, "slow" is the user's internet rather than the software, worth checking before you blame the vendor.

Something worth noticing about a page like this. Reviews get written at the emotional peaks, which in software means the first ninety days: implementation is late, training didn't stick, a bill showed up wrong. Almost nobody comes back at year two to update, and year two is when you'd actually know something. Read the dates here. A lot of these describe a rough onboarding, not a system someone ran at scale for years.

They're also written from the buyer's seat: features, price, the demo. The operator's seat looks different. Most practices pick a system, go live, and a year later the money moves at exactly the speed it did before. That has almost nothing to do with which system they picked.

Watch how the typical evaluation runs. Three or four demos, a couple of people from billing, a couple from clinical, everyone scores what they saw. Nobody is looking through an operator's lens: how this system will move cash, how much manual work it absorbs, what it does to margin two years out, whether anyone can get a number out of it without filing a ticket. Billing evaluates screens they'll type in. Clinicians evaluate charting. The questions that decide whether the practice makes money never get asked.

There's also a limit to what a demo can show. Demos are built around screens, because screens are what fit in an hour. The part of this system that matters most isn't on a screen, so it doesn't demo. Explaining it takes someone who has run a practice on it and knows what to point it at, and that person is rarely in the room during an evaluation. You can sit through four demos and come away with an accurate picture of the interface and no idea what the system can do.

On what buyers do compare, AdvancedMD is roughly even with the market. The notes are as good as anyone's, and the interface and workflow are fine once you learn them and get them configured to drive the behavior you actually want, operationally, clinically, and financially. They're adding AI features regularly on the documentation side. Anyone telling you one of these systems is dramatically better at charting is selling something.

Where they separate is where every other system taps out. Every system eventually hits a wall: the report you need doesn't exist, and automation stops at whatever the vendor built. AdvancedMD gives you real-time access to your own data, so the wall isn't there. Any view you want can be built, and automation keeps going past what shipped in the box.

Two examples. Group denials by cause instead of working them one at a time, and most collapse into a handful of upstream mistakes you can shut off permanently. Check the expiration dates on your cards on file, and most practices find dead cards nobody was alerted about, quietly turning collectible money into statements. Getting to that today rather than next quarter is what changes the outcome.

Here's why the operator's lens matters more than any feature comparison. Revenue is not cash. A practice can bill a great month, watch the money sit somewhere between the visit and the bank, and still come up short on the fifteenth. Every owner reading this knows what happens next, because it happens quietly and nobody talks about it: you cover payroll out of your own account and tell yourself it's temporary. It usually isn't. It's the gap between the visit and the deposit, and that gap is set by how the system is configured and what happens before the claim goes out.

We ran a multi-location group on AdvancedMD at under 10 days average cash conversion across more than 200 payers, with clean claims above 95% and 97% of patient responsibility collected up front. The capability was already in the system. Knowing what to point it at is the part nobody teaches. That's the kind of return this software makes possible, and not one review on this page asks about it.

I'd give it 4.5 if I could. It's called AdvancedMD for a reason. Most buyers never get there, because they evaluate it as software instead of as the thing that decides their cash flow and margin.

As others have stated...

As others have stated. Awful support. I thought having a US based support would be superior. No. Firstly the timings are off. Secondly the support staff change and the handoff is atrocious. Thirdly, quite expensive given the dinosaur age user interface. Furthermore, absolutely shameful service. Shameful. Did not set me up properly, and when reviewing their internal communication, they stated (to internal team) "things are going well." Ridiculous, unprofessional, and expensive. Stay away. A PRIVATE PRACTICE DOC OPEN IN MARCH 2026, so yeah, recent review, and by an owner/provider.

It sure has been a struggle

It sure has been a struggle. And still struggling. The AI features doesn’t work like it was shown. Finally did away with it. Interphasing is horrible with labcorp and still not done after 7+ months. Orders are so generic looking it is embarrassing to send from the practice. Chat and call help was so helpful at first now they have ghosted us. We figure out a lot of things on our own. Have to build everything we need in the system. I really liked the demo we were shown and it is so much more cost worthy than Athena.

Has a lot of issues to work out. Faxing is awful. Worst I have ever seen. And the progress note is 24 pages long. How embarrassing. I type up my own and fax it if needed. I can say our onboarding gal, Ashley, is the best in the company. She always tries to help in every way she can. She will even tell us that the system needs improvement with some things. I would give her 5 stars.

Don't do it

system is super complicated and training was time consuming and minimally helpful. did not have all the psych assessment tools as promised. customer services is absolutely horrifying. telehealth platform works less than 50% of the time. Patients are not able to easily self schedule. It's just really not a good system for the price. Definitely seems more catered for very large practices. customer service will always tell you that they can't help you and to reach out to another area. This EHR for me was an expensive regret and I'm still trying to cancel as they are difficult to cancel. The keep charging you. Don't do it. There are way better system out there that cost way less and actually are helpful.

Poor training, bait and switch, poor follow-thorugh

1. I have no clue how good the system is because the training is horrible.
2. To switch billing programs, you have to do paperwork with each health insurance company. So 4 months later and my Medicare ERA's are still going to my old program. I emailed the onboarding person who oversaw the process. No response. The person doing the training reached out to her and her response was that it was not longer her problem and I'd have to submit tech support tickets to have it resolved.
3. I created customized documentation templates through DrChrono. AdvancedMD said that I could develop my own templates. What they didn't say was that it would cost $150/hr to have the templates I create put into a different format so you can print the treatment note.
4. You have a set number of hours for training. It's frustrating that this time is often spent trying to figure out why the program isn't working.

AdvancedMD Treats You Like a Number

AdvancedMD Treats You Like a Number, Not a Valued Client
Review:
My experience with AdvancedMD’s customer service has been extremely disappointing. They make you feel like just another ticket in their system rather than a valued client. Every interaction feels rushed and impersonal, with little effort to understand or resolve issues thoroughly.
To make matters worse, I’ve been waiting for over four weeks for an issue to be resolved, and every time I follow up, the answer is the same: “We do not have a timeline for when this will be solved.” This lack of accountability and transparency is unacceptable.
If you’re looking for a company that prioritizes relationships and treats you like royalty, AdvancedMD is not it.

Overall robust software but not user-friendly - Poor customer service and more expensive than similar platforms.

I do not recommend this software after 10 years of use. Overall, robust with many options and features but usability and service is poor. Most every function takes substantially more steps than other platforms. Simple functions offered by other substantially less expensive software packages are not available. When calling to ask for help, the answer is almost always not offered and suggest to post to their idea share forum. I have items posted from over 3 years ago with absolutely no response from advanced MD despite hundreds of votes from hundreds of other users. I have requested an advisory board of users. The answer "we dont do that". Listen to your paying customers.

in addition, There are some significant safety issues I have come across and 2 patient hospitalizations due to software design failures which I complained about prior to these incidences and ignored.

Overall there is a good base here but it has not improved, only worse with worsening usability and safety. I wish it were easier to shift platforms but we have hired a team to start the process. It appears the cost of this team will be saved by switching to a platform allowing increased productivity.

Not Interested In Helping You

The service person looked into my issue. She told me that the system worked as it was supposed to, and the recent upgrades, making workflow worse and increasing the number of clicks per task, were just how it would be; AdvancedMD was not interested in improving ease of use.

What happened?

I’ve been using AdvancedMD since early 2019, and while there are some aspects of the software that initially seemed promising, the overall experience has become increasingly frustrating. Let’s start with the positives. AdvancedMD does offer some excellent features that were quite relevant and innovative back in 2019, helping us manage our practice's workflow and patient information. However, things have changed drastically, and not for the better.

One of the most glaring issues is the lack of user-friendliness, especially when it comes to creating custom templates. Unlike some of the more intuitive systems out there, AdvancedMD requires a solid understanding of coding to build and modify templates. This is a huge hurdle for practices that don’t have dedicated technical staff. It’s difficult to grasp, and the learning curve is steep, making it more of a headache than a helpful tool.

But what really led to my frustration was the customer service. A couple of years ago, we had a dedicated account representative who was extremely helpful and responsive. Unfortunately, that support has all but disappeared. Now, it takes up to four weeks to get a response if you try to email someone. If you use the live chat option, you’ll be speaking with someone in another country reading from a script – not exactly the personalized service you'd expect for a critical business tool. As a practice that relies solely on this platform for revenue management, this level of support is simply pitiful.

Goodbye, AdvancedMD. Fransico Brothers, I truly hope you can save your sinking ship, but after months of trying to get help and seeing no improvement, I have little hope left. At this point, it's become a serious challenge to rely on a system that used to be a key part of our workflow.

In short, AdvancedMD has lost its edge in user experience and customer service. While the software had potential, the lack of meaningful support and cumbersome features has turned it into more of a burden than a solution for our practice.

Terrible Support/Quirky System/Overpriced!

I have been with Advanced MD for approx 3 years. The Practice Management/Billing software is not user friendly and difficult to learn. When you need support the consistently try to push you into using their billing team to take over your billing, while boasting the ease of use of the software. - Change healthcare is there clearing house. During the cyber-attack, we had to do so much extra work that it put us behind. We had to find workarounds ourselves to get paid. We received almost no support from Advanced MD. I only received some supportive consult after having a fit for weeks. As today 12/13/24, they no longer have phone support. You have to chat with someone, which is time consuming and not helpful. My issue is the EHR not printing properly and I have record requests that I need to fulfil. The chat person could not help me and told me to call. There is no phone support. SO, I reached out to my new (this is #4) sales representative who offers only to put in a ticket. After which I received an email to try to sell me training and to schedule a call. My issue is not a training issue it is a system issue (btw - training is $150/hr). I have been getting a run around for the last week in trying to get help with this. I'm disgusted! If you're thinking about using this system run away quickly! Overpriced, quirky system and zero support when needed!

very user unfriendly and I (an MD) has made many more unnecessary mistakes compared with when I used Practice Fusion. It is dangerous as if you need to do five things to stop your car. This is not the best interest of our patients and Advanced MD has caused a serious emotional distress. I call it less Advanced.
