Professional, friendly, no hard sell, welcoming - love this place!

I can't believe the negative views of Afflelou in Lausanne. I had a fantastic experience of their Nyon store, but now living in Lausanne, I was concerned that it might not match the amazing service offered by Nyon. It was even BETTER! Lovely staff, fantastic advice, not over complicated and totally professional. My eyesight is pretty ok (-1.75 in each eye) and I persuaded my husband (with terrible eyesight) to go. He was equally impressed by their professionalism, soft cell and helpful staff. Ignore the comments about them being expensive. Getting glasses in Switzerland is an expensive business - even for the Swiss. A swiss friend of mine just paid CHF3,000 (at a different option) for a "Buy 2, get a 3rd pair free" deal. So I'm not going to argue about paying CHF250 for a new pair of glasses. Have nothing bad to say about this company.

Why Am I Waiting

I was notofied that the AA website had been hacked, I decided to use another opthalmologist and asked for the funds from my mutuelle to be unblocked. This should be a a quick process and take around 48 hrs to do this.
After 7 days, and numerous requests from my new opthalmologist, I am still waiting.

I needed contact lenses while visiting Nice

I needed contact lenses while visiting Nice. The optician helped me find my very strong prescription, and then helped me purchase the most comfortable lenses I have ever worn, at a fantastic price! After my return to the US, I worked with Alix, who thankfully speaks English, to purchase more of these contacts over the phone. She was so patient with the way she handled the issues of getting my bank to allow the foreign payment. Overall, a wonderful experience and I will be utilizing them again!

Reality check needed.

Not a good experience. I needed new varifocals and saw this opticians based at La Marina Finestrat Spain. I am used to a logical order when visiting opticians, not here. You do not have an eye exam first, you have to choose your glasses first- so I picked a few frames. Then the most basic of eye exams took place,, I am guessing by a technician and not by a qualified opthamologist. Once it was decided that there was no change in my prescription the assistant sat me down for the sales pitch. The confusing and extremely over priced options was presented to me. For one pair of varifocals glasses the prices started at 549 euro up to 894 euro. I will leave that there. At nearly 60 yrs of age I know a rip off when I see one. We left the store. I ended up purchasing online. For two pairs of varifocals with all anti scratch, blue screen UVA coatings plus photochromic lenses I paid 350 euro. Time for places like this to wake up and smell the coffee,, I now understand why the store was empty and has been empty every time I walk past. I understand that having a bricks and mortar store has cost implications but ripping people off price wise is not the way to go. Incidentally,, those magnetic frames the assistant was pushing so hard are also available for next to nothing on line. Shop around people, having good eyesight should not cost the earth.

They replaced my faulty glasses, no questions asked

My glasses frames became discoloured on the bridge and I took them back. They replaced with no questions and in less than week I had not only new frames, but new lenses, too. The people in the shop are super-helpful and couldn't be nicer. The frames they sell are beautiful, but do seem to be a little on the flimsy side, and, with the the cost of the lenses, were not cheap. I think I would return to this shop because of the excellent customer service and because I have been very happy with my glasses.
