Pushy and Unprofessional Door-to-Door Sales Tactics
One of the Worst Customer Support…
One of the Worst Customer Support Experiences I've Had
We spent a small fortune upgrading our home with premium windows and a front door, expecting industry-leading craftsmanship and reliable support. While the product is excellent, the customer service following installation has been an absolute nightmare. When we tried to get help both for a warranty claim and for a paid repair, getting a response to our request was near-impossible. Most of the time, the Service Assessment Team did not answer our phone calls, and we were directed to leave a phone message which would be returned at "as soon as possible". Most phone messages were not returned. More specifically, it took three calls and four weeks just to get a live person to initiate an evaluation of our warranty repair and get a quote on our paid repair, three more calls and almost 8 weeks to receive an evaluation of our warranty claim, and now we are incurring an 11 week lead time before the repairs can take place. During this last call, which fortunately did not go to voicemail, I was on hold for 2 hours and 42 minutes before a team member was available. Customer service has been virtually unresponsive all summer! There is nowhere to turn, as Anderson has made it structurally near-impossible to get in touch with anyone who can actually authorize a claim, repair or replacement. The company's customer service staff seems to be woefully understaffed. Anderson is quick to take your money, but the second something goes wrong, you are virtually completely on your own. Please check reviews of this and other window installers to make sure your installer has good references.
Terrible product
Terrible product, even worse customer service. Pathetic.
After spending over $100,000 a few…
After spending over $100,000 a few years ago with this company, now I’m starting a new project. I called Andersen, asking for an on site consultation. ONE HOUR LATER, I’m still answering idiotic questions about the measurements of the windows, the age of the old windows??? the material of the kitchen. What? It’s a REMODEL!! The measurements will likely change. What is wrong with these people?
Terrible - Avoid unless forced to replace a part from them!
Terrible parts website and fulfillment services. I believe Andersen runs a poor website and portal for ordering parts, one in which orders are not timely confirmed to the customer-supplied e-mail address and even their live representatives cannot reliably, accurately tell that an order has been placed or its status, at least not within the first couple of days after the order is placed online. They apparently will put a charge or hold onto your credit card with no way to confirm the order has been placed or is in process until close to shipment time. This seems due to poorly designed systems and internal, operational communications.
Their warranty is WORTHLESS They will gaslight you
Their warranty is WORTHLESS. They sent a defective part and won’t replace it. Then they said the damage to the frame was because we didn't install the part right away. Nothing like being gaslighted by this company. They have had every excuse to deny our claims and refuse to send parts. They claim these full glass storm doors 96” tall 36” wide are a homeowner do it yourself project. I am so glad we didn’t spend the big bucks to have Anderson windows installed when we built our home. At least Milguard will honor their warranty.
I should have reported my issues years…
I should have reported my issues years ago when we originally had the issue with Steve Mermalstine but - in 2023 we had an issue with Steve- who is sent in to push sales when you otherwise may not purchase. Andersen uses predatory sales tactics to push a sale of two bay windows in our older home. They demand an answer on the spot and if you don’t bite they continue to attack you with pricing. We eventually broke down and agreed. But We were never informed That the window installation process would leave us with smaller windows. Essentially We were whole heartedly upset with the process and product. We were never offered a solution but decided to look on the bright side and move on. After months of antagonizing text messages we agreed to an estimate for exterior doors - 2 to be exact. When Steve arrived he was upset that my husband wasn’t home- because he could not exact the same predatory sales tactic as before. So, before even seeing both doors I told him I would not be making a decision today. He retaliated by saying “well, this was a waist of my time, I could have told you over text this was going to be 10k per door.” I told him I was sorry for wasting his time and sent him on his way. Then tonight, he sauntered into a local restaurant that we frequent. He was pompous and lied about both interactions and then, on the spot threatened to put down our place of business to local residents. Again, should have said something when he lied about a window installation. I should have said something when he insulted me in my home a second time… but today I’m saying something because his lies and sheer lack of professionalism was not only deafening but also potentially detrimental to my place of employment - which has no bearing in any of this. Steve mermalstine of the Philadelphia/Coatesville area is not a nice person and he will openly lie to your face regarding Andersen windows/door- and then further insult your intelligence and integrity by lying again to say he Didn’t. Don’t get sold by this predatory company or the terrible people it employ's.
I ordered glass replacement may 27th…
I ordered glass replacement may 27th and never received the order yet I called and they give me the run around I aso6asked to talk to a supervisor and they said not available and also gave my number for a call back that didn't happen I am not doing business with Anderson 4 anything
WINDOWS MELTED CAR AND RV STAY AWAY
These windows melted my car and RV. STAY AWAY!!
The heat and sun that are reflected from these windows can damage and melt anything not metal. I have been going back and forth with the insurance company representing Andersen with no progress, just excuses. This happened five months ago. The damage from these windows has cost me thousands of dollars. Stay away from this company and windows. Protect your property!
Worst Customer Support Experience I've Had
Very disappointing experience with Andersen Windows & Doors. After payment, customer support became extremely difficult to deal with. Multiple emails, phone calls, and months of follow-up resulted in little to no resolution. Simple requests were repeatedly misunderstood, and communication was poor throughout the process. Based on my experience, I would not purchase from them again and cannot recommend them to other businesses.
I broke my new front window
I broke my new front window, ordered a replacement sash on 3/24/2026, I kept calling to get a ship date, I finally got told it shipped and when it would arrive. I scheduled the installer, the day it was to be here I received a call stating it was back ordered. I then received a message that it arrived the next week but was refused due to damage. The new shipment date is now in July. I spent over 60k to have new Anderson windows installed, had I known their customer service was this poor I would have picked a different window company! In short, anyone needing windows do your upfront investigation and pick another window line such as Pella, Kobe or Weathershield to avoid the poor customer service!
Zero Customer Service
Andersen can not claim they have customer service. Customers are irrelevant to them. Still waiting for an order placed 5/14. They provide invalid tracking numbers. I received an email which they stated was delivered on 5/22. It wasn't. Using information from Anderson’s website shows there’s an unexplained delay. It’s still sitting at a suburb 5 miles away. They lie.
Can't Trust Window People
Good lord. We have an older 850 sq ft home with 8 windows max and I mean smallish windows. Their rep quoted us $32K for new windows!
What a total scam!
Worst company in the world
Worst company in the world - I've dealt with them directly since 2006 - first home build resulted in a lawsuite we won because they had so many defective windows and refused to honor their warranty. Fast forward and I just bought a home with of course brand new andersen - several defects found by andersen's own inspector and they are once again not honoring their warranty so back to court we go. Avoid them at all costs. The folks there have all been really nice but they gaslight you and you will not get any warranty honored.
Over priced
My wife solicited a consultation & price quote from Anderson. For just 7 windows & 1 sliding glass door, the quote was a stunning EIGHTY-THOUSAND dollars! I thought they must have inadvertently added a zero. No thanks, Ander$on.
Anderson Windows quality has gone to ****
I have used Anderson windows for 30 years. I will Never. Buy another one. We had a patio door with the internal shades installed in February, on the 25th, 2026. It was a 5k$ door- which of course included the install. I was hesitant to buy a patio door with the shades on the inside, because what happens when they break? They have a good warranty. So I bought it. On March 26th, was raising up the shade with the slider and it broke. Not only broke the slider, but the track it was on is also coming off. I called the warranty number, was on the phone with them for 45 minutes /. They accessed my phone, they had me take measurements, they had me go inside and outside to see the door. The part is covered. However to have a technician come out to evaluate the door.. Four HUNDRED dollars. I said no. And I will no longer buy Anderson. Nor will I recommend Anderson. If you are looking for a patio door, do not buy the one with the shades on the inside.
Anderson windows are the absolute…WORST!
Anderson windows are the absolute worst! When I purchased my home the Anderson windows had been all replaced new within 4 years. I had a huge 70 “ window replaced within the first year of purchasing under warranty due to a seal fail. I had to pay for labor. The entire window was discolored and had bubbles in it. That was the end of my warranty. Now I’am stuck with windows that all leak air very badly in the winter. I can’t close them correctly, top up all the way up and bottom down all the way down, so 90% of my windows don’t lock. Please, please do not waste your money on these windows, from someone who has no choice but to live with their defective windows at this point.
Total scam
Total scam. Order 2 x shoes in size 7. They shipped one in size 8 and one in size 9. Now they are trying to charge me for shipping product back. Avoid this company. Pretending to be a Canadian company. NOT!!!
The Andersen enclosed blind windows are poor quality.
The Andersen cord operated enclosed mini blind windows are awful. From the start, the blinds will not close all the way. The salesman told me straight faced that the Pella magnetic windows with enclosed blinds could "wear out". I told him I didn't think magnets would do that. Ridiculous but my spouse wanted to do business with this dealer and not Pella so we bought 12 various size windows. From the start, the blinds rarely would close all the way and several barely move. My friend's magnetic Pella are twice as old and still work flawlessly. We had ours installed in 2020.
1-Star Review
1-Star Review: Misleading Sales Practices and Poor Customer Service
We had high expectations for Andersen Windows & Doors given their reputation, but our experience was deeply disappointing and unprofessional.
The Issue: During our initial consultation, salesperson Stephen explicitly promised an 8-10 week lead time for our front door installation. We made our purchasing decision based on this timeline. After placing our order, we were informed the actual timeline would be 16-20 weeks - literally double what we were promised.
Their Response: When we escalated this significant discrepancy to management, we were offered only a token $500 discount despite the material misrepresentation of delivery timelines. Sidney from their team was unprofessional and dismissive throughout our attempts to resolve the situation.
The Outcome: Rather than work with us to find a reasonable solution for their misleading sales practices, Andersen chose to walk away from the business entirely.
This experience suggests either poor internal communication between sales and operations, or intentional bait-and-switch tactics. Either way, customers deserve accurate information upfront, not promises that can't be kept.
We cannot recommend Andersen Windows & Doors based on this experience. Shop elsewhere if timeline reliability and honest communication matter to you.
