Worst Experience Ever!!!!
I am not happy to make this review, but I wish I had read the numerous bad reviews before choosing Athene so I feel an obligation towards potential customers of Athene Flyttefirma to be properly warned, of what could be in store for them.
In short, I paid DKK 12.000,00 to pack and move my belongings from UK to Denmark. Included was my television a 55” which Athene had packed in two blankets to be transported and stored in a Boxit storage in Fyn Denmark, together with all my other boxes. As the TV only had blankets to protect it, my TV was damaged 3 different places showing signs of being pressed to fit, when I unpacked, which surely happened at some point before I opened the storage room, as I took good care of my things, remember I paid them to move my things because I actually care about those things.
I contacted Athene who refused to even partially cover the cost for repair or buying a new TV. They said that it might as well be my own fault that the TV was broken and thus they did not want to pay anything. After letting them know in writing that I found it unfair that I paid them to pack and move my things and then also wanted me to pay for the damages they had made, they told me that this was their policy, as their insurance company would not cover the costs. They were kindly reminded that they were free to pay for their mistakes themselves. They then had their insurance company call me and let me know that no one would believe my story, and that I should not write a bad review of Athene. (I found it strange that an insurance company is so interested in calling their customers’ customers to tell them not to make bad reviews).
I told Athene that I would want to make this review, and Athene then claimed it was a threat, and they found threats unreasonable. But I simply told them that I would tell people the truth of what I had experienced. (See anonymised email correspondence further down)
My advice to you as a potential future customer is to
have Athene sign what they are moving, plus have a receipt ready where they sign that they receive unharmed devices.
Immediately after delivery you must take out all your belongings, unpack and inspect them and make sure no one apart from them has moved any of the things from where they left it.
Make the claims to Athene immediately after you discover any damage - They refused to take responsibility because I have 2 weeks after delivery to report any damages but I didn’t have an apartment then so I couldn’t know of these damages. In theory, they wanted me to unpack all my things in the storage room to check and then later repack.
Now if you find the above tips unnecessarily cumbersome, then Athene Flyttefirma is not for you either.
I personally think a professional company should take responsibility for their mistakes and trust that someone who is willing to pay them that much, surely cares for his\her personal belongings. Also, trust their customers enough to want to compensate or find some sort of amicable agreement with them after such mistakes are reported because even for professionals such things can happen. After all, this is exactly why I chose a Danish company, but I was clearly wrong and am now deeply disappointed.
The short fact is that Athene received my things on 14 September 2023 in England. They put my things in the storage room in Boxit Fyn on 6 October 2023, I opened the storage room and moved my belongings from Fyn to Copenhagen on 30 May 2024 granted this is quite a while.
Due to the character limit, I am not able to attach all the email correspondences that transpired between Athena and myself to prove their unprofessionalism and I can't make multiple reviews on the same company so hopefully this will help someone think twice before using them.
