The worst customer service ever

The worst customer service I have ever had in my life.
The audiobook i am listening too is missing a complete chapter, audible au told me that is how the publisher wanted it I told them this is ridiculous seeing as the book makes no sense now. They told me to talk to yhe publisher and then gave me the wrong publisher details.

Completely fobbed me off, didnt give a damn, didnt even investigate.

Audible

I signed up to audible books as I thought it was for 39.99 to realise it was 86.99 tried and tried to cancel subscription as I didn't want to pay this much .
But audible would not refund my money
Which is appalling I thought we had time to change our mind.
Plus when you purchase books I thought you could still listen to them even if you don't resign up to audible

I’ve been a member of Audible for years. Most titles are available to members for £7.99. However the monthly subscription has been increased to £8.99 . This does not make sense ? I have emailed Audible twice and paused my subscription, but no answers from them .

we received a false subscription charge

we received a subscription charge that was not authorised after a family member purchased an item on Amazon 10 years ago. Scumbags that sneaky charge a subscription fee and can't explain why we were charged. Took an hour on the phone with some muppet in Asia that had no idea. WORST COMPANY EVER

Audible did a bait and switch on the Web site and refuses to refund my money when I tried to nullify the purchase. Audible swithed a book that I wanted to buy with a "Recommendation" right when I selected purchase now!

Their subscription model is awful

Their subscription model is awful. If you can't listen to the 12 books you buy at a time, in the time you have, you have to keep renewing and get more time and more credits you can't use. The alternative is to lose the credits you pay for, if you can't use them in time. It's just a very unfair way to do things. I was with them for 9 years and when I was listening to them more regularly, I was ok but when I slowed down a bit, and got behind, I was penalised for it. If I had been able to take tie off, without losing $160 worth of credits, I would have come back in a year and continued for many years to come but if you can't listen fast enough, you are absolutely disadvantaged. Will not be doing business with this terrible company again.

Disappointed with Apple Subscription – Refund Process Unfair

I subscribed to Audible through Apple about 8 months ago, intending to use it for only 2 months. I believed I had cancelled my subscription, but unfortunately, it appears the cancellation didn’t go through properly. As a result, I was unknowingly charged $17.45 per month for 6 additional months—despite not using the service at all.

When I contacted Audible, they informed me that because I subscribed through Apple, I had to request a refund from Apple directly. Apple, however, only allows refunds within the last 60 days—so I was only able to request 2 months back, leaving me out of pocket for the remaining 4 months ($69.80 total).

I spoke with Apple support and escalated the issue, but was told there was nothing more they could do due to policy limitations. I find this highly frustrating, especially as I never used the service during those 6 months and believed I had cancelled.

The lack of flexibility and the passing of responsibility between Audible and Apple left me feeling powerless as a customer. I’m disappointed that a service I didn’t use—and thought I had ended—is now costing me close to $105 in total.

A more customer-friendly process is needed for subscription services, especially when purchased through third parties. I hope Audible and Apple take steps to make cancellations and refunds more transparent and fair.

Fraudulent charges against my bank

My bank card has been charged every month by Audible Australia for a monthly subscription of $16.45. However, I do not have a subscription to their service and have searched my account to see where this is coming from and there is nothing. I do not understand how I can be charged for something that does not appear on my account. I reached out to their Customer Service to try to get this stopped as it is a fraudulent charge and asked the representativo to tell me who was charging my account each month. I was told that they could not tell me due to privacy issues. I asked what privacy issues - the account is mine, surely these fraudulent charges are an invasión of my privacy as I have not authorised anyone to charge a subscription to my account. Then I was asked to try and think of who it might be so as to try and stop it - I went through a list of family and friends but it wasn’t any of them. Audible has refused to stop this transaction so I went to my bank 2 weeks ago and cancelled my debit card that they where charging against but a new charge came through yesterday on the new debit card that I haven”t even received yet. The bank has disputed the charge for me and I have had to cancel the card that I haven’t even received. Apparently, I have to wait a further 10 business days to get another new card. I find it totally ludicrous that Audible Australia cannot stop this transaction and in my humble opinión are complicit in facilitating fraudulent activity against my bank account. I will never, ever use Audible Australia again as they are complicit in enabling fraud against my bank account.

Audible, Amazon Beware!!

Audible Australia and Amazon, as a related entity are quite possibly the most underhanded, morally lacking organisation I have ever dealt with.

They continually billed me for 17 months, without notification of invoice or indication of account details. They allowed a phone number based account to set up in addition to my email based account and on cancellation of email based account continued to bill me for the phone account with the same details despite attempt to cancel all accounts.

After 90 minutes on the phone with their call centre they refunded me 12 months subscription but are still to return the additional 5 months.

I had a similar cancellation issue with Amazon Prime where initial cancellation was complicated and they continued to bill me following cancellation. A refund was received following complaint. I find all of the Amazon related online services to have particularly sneaky and quite frankly dodgy practices to make cancellations difficult or convoluted in an attempt to squeeze additional subscription payments from people.

Going forward I will always seek alternative suppliers to any Amazon related product. They are not an organisation I have any faith in. This includes. Amazon, Audible, Amazon Prime.

Excellent

Really do not understand the bad reviews. AUDIBLE is by far the best for listening to books. They offer great offers, an incredible selection of books all wrapped up in a user friendly interface. Reviews stating its difficult to cancel are very confusing also. It's super simple and they do everything they can to try and please you.

The app itself is pretty good but what a rigmarole audible is

The app itself is pretty good. No bugs and no issues and the UI is pretty good, intuitive and efficient settings etc, good range of titles across a broad spectrum of subjects.

However… my card expired. And I can’t update my payment method because I CAN’T SIGN IN TO MY ACCOUNT. And to contact them you have to sign in. Actually to do anything related specifically to account, you have to sign in to the site. And I just can’t. I’ve tried everything. It says I’ve requested too many OTPs in 24hrs despite not requesting any. According to Reddit, it’s a common problem here in NZ.

So can’t get more credits, can’t do anything really. They’ll cancel my membership this month and I’ll be moving elsewhere once I’ve finished my library. Terrible.

I used a free trial of audible 9 months…

I used a free trial of audible 9 months ago then cancelled, and only just realised they'd been charging me $16.45 every month since, despite the fact I have never once logged in or used the app. They also deliberately make unsubscribing extremely difficult and confusing (e.g. you can't unsubscribe from a portable device... why?)

Can not lend audibooks!

Well, this is a great solution with good service. Not all the features in the US version are available in the Australian version. From time to time, they have great specials to get news users or returning users signed up. BUT there is one MAJOR fundamental problem with this service! I can lend my physical books to friends and family, I CAN NOT lend the audiobooks I pay for through this service! This is a money trap! I am better off buying printed books that Audiobooks! I can send one free book to a new user, but that is not the same. The books I pay for can only be used by myself. Monday Trap!
