I have been selected 4 times to test…

I have been selected 4 times to test electronics, which three, allowed me to keep and another asked me to ship the product back. I'v tested and kept some pretty good stuff.
Only reason I gave 4 stars is because there are times where it will be a year or two before they pick you again and as of late, they have not been sent anything out to me. So, Idk what is going on but then again, I haven't been trying lately.

I am still with them just in case something comes my way. I would recommend them but you gotta be patient and stick with it.

A counter to the bad reviews

I'd like to leave a review to counter the people saying "you'll never be picked for anything".

I cannot say much as they make you sign NDAs for these things, but I have tested multiple gaming peripherals that I have even been allowed to keep. You just have to fill your account out with as much information as possible and wait; check your e-mail often. I made my account a long time ago and only really began to get picked for interesting things recently. It's definitely a fun and rewarding hobby for those who are interested. I definitely think it's cool seeing a product I got to test on the shelves.

Betabound actually connects potential testers to companies through the Centercode testing platform. A company says "Hey! I need testers!" and Betabound says "Here ya go!". So strive to be a good potential tester or tester.

THANKLESS job...

I have participated in Betabound projects here and there for a good part of a decade - or more. The last project I worked on for them was for the vacuum robot. They needed/wanted my input so much that they extended my reporting for over six months! But you know, they were never very nice to me when they asked for extra pictures or if I could try adjusting a part. They had NO PROBLEM using FedEx signature REQUIRED whenever they needed to send me a part that I would have to install. I told them repeatedly that it is inconsiderate to ask me to blow a day's paid work to stay home and wait for a delivery of a $2 part. They never even answered. Another thing, there is no incentive or "gift" in spending time on these projects - I'm pretty sure long ago there was some token given.
Anyway I block their emails now. I would not recommend.

You will never be selected for anything

6 years I've been on their books with an advanced profile. I have opted in for countless 'opportunities' in that time, the vast majority of which I am an ideal candidate for having actual testing experience professionally. Not one single selection during that time. It is a total waste of time and I'm not convinced it's not just some elaborate data mining scam.

Amazing beta test experience

I have worked on a lot of Beta tests with Beta Bound over the last 6 years.

Betabound provide a platform that can be used by companies all around the world. So far I have done beta testing for a Cable TV set top box company, three different network hardware providers as well as multiple headsets (I didn't realise how many may not even come to market or change massively based on Beta Testers feedback).

Each company and test is different, some are as short as four weeks, others can last for months (or even be continually ongoing). My longest one so far is about 3 years and I get software updates and functionality sometimes months before it gets pushed out to the public.

Occasionally, as a beta tester, we work with some of the staff at BetaBound who manage the beta on behalf of some of their own clients.

They ship the hardware our for free. If we have to return hardware at the end, this is paid for as well.

I have been fortunate that a number of beta's I have been on, I was allowed to keep the hardware. Sometimes we have to return it as it is not yet fully licensed and still in development (for example, a device may need to have final licensing approved by regulatory bodies in some or all countries that it will be sold in).

The most impressive Beta I have completed to date was for an audio company where feedback that I gave made it to the final product that is now on the retail stores globally.

As a beta tester, we can talk generically about what we do, but we are under non-disclosure agreements not to talk about specific brands, what we learn, find out and what works / does not work etc.

Sometimes, some companies who are doing a trail will reward testers with limited edition branded merchandise for completing daily / weekly / monthly journals and surveys.

So even though you are not 'paid' for your time, you can get to use and try things you would not normally and also get things that are not available to the public.

In summary, I have not found another beta platform or team who are better. They never ask 'for your credit card' or to 'pay a deposit' as some sites do. This is real world beta testing and if you like to try out new things, it is worth trying.

You can see a list of companies that use the BetaBound platform and see how people test everything from Batteries to Satellite Phones, Software companies through to Robotics companies and everything in-between.

Sometimes it is frustrating when you are testing an amazing gadget and can't talk about it, but that is the nature of beta testing.

If you have never done it, I would highly recommend it.

I Invested a Good Bit of Time In Betabound, Betabound Paid No Interest

Betabound. I've been a member for 18 months. I closed my account today. I intended to last month. I, instead sent an email to state my disheartenment after my contributing the completion of dozens of time-extensive opportunity profiles which spanned 18 months and to having never been granted not even one opportunity at product testing. What resulted was a congratulations. I had been accepted into, what seemed to me, a fascinating quality electronics manufacturer's product—to beta test a mesh Wi-Fi system. I was in awe (ikr?)I thought it was fate (plus my email?) that I was chosen. StarLink, Elon Musk's low orbit satellite internet dish and components would be arriving the same week as my residence locale had been chosen for StarLink beta . January saw the opening of my remodeling & smart device workshop/storefront on my rural residential property. The mesh beta would be great fun given the status of events, and I would imagine it would serve as unique opportunity for the big name brand, Betabound's client, to be presented quantitative metrics for its mesh system in a rural environment to just the 3rd place on Earth set to beta StarLink (it is an amazing service—outstanding upgrade, bravo). The Friday before the mesh WiFi beta was to begin, I received an email from the program lead at Betabound that I'd been relegated to backup. I responded no thank you as my planning toward testing had been invested, that I operate a business with strong demand, and could hardly carry "backup tester email checker" with my schedule. It's difficult to say, but I sincerely felt disappointed. I mean, 18 months is a substantial investment. I have two children, own a home, a business, vehicles, and my home is a smart device-loving nerd's oasis of DNS, DHCP, NAT tabled, MAC filtering, IP allocating geekdom. That's something to contribute. Eighteen months. Betabound apparently does not track metrics. I am unsure. What I am sure of is Betabound did not consider my term on its platform commendable with even one opportunity to act as a tester; thus, my opinion was also null and void. That's my Betabound experience. I've used > than 1500 apps and platforms since 1995. I have beta tested product ranging from Bixby's "Echo" to Dremel's original multitool to closed beta of Amazon's upcoming mmorpg New World. Betabound awarded no such opportunity.
