November 2024 i Made a reservation for a used car on BMW.FR S712023. registered my credit card for a deposit as required.
It turned out the car was already sold but my deposit got withdrawn anyway. I have since been in contact with BMW by phone and reached out by email (6 reminders) but i still haven't received got my deposit back.
Read this and be cautious. This information is not just about one customers bad experience. It is extremely important because it is about the impotence and uselessness of the entire BMW customer service oversight. This is an important fact not refuted by the CEO of the BMW group Mr Zipse. Mr Zipse and the BMW Group Germany and BMW France have all confirmed that they have no power or control over the customer service of their dealerships. Simply a BMW dealership is able to offer the most appalling customer service, in this case BMW Bayern Mougins France, and BMW France confirmed in writing that the service was, quote "deplorable", but they have no power to direct the dealership or demand it fix customer service issues of the highest disregard. That this failure to be able to have any power over its dealerships was considered and confirmed by Mr Zipse, the CEO of the BMW Group. I write this review on 22 December 2024. My vehicle has been unsafe to drive for more than two years despite spending thousands on repair with BMW Bayern Mougins France. Now I have been given a loan car but it does not replace my own vehicle of course. My car was most recently returned to BMW Bayern Mougins on 5th April 2024 and remains, as they advised, sitting in their basement. Requests for information on mechanical history and what work has been done since 5th April 2024 remain unanswered. Efforts to seek assistance with a upgrade changeover of vehicle, even though it would cost me tens of thousands to upgrade because of the strict terms by BMW France, have been ignored. In fact BMW Bayern Mougins France have ignored all communications since early August and Mr Zipse, the BMW Global Group and BMW France had admitted they are without any power or influence to demand customer service. And if you think this is some emotional statement, I sent Mr Zipse, BMW Global Group and BMW France a very clearly stated understanding of their lack of power and refusal to assist asking them to please response if I got the facts incorrectly. They could not deny my accusation and valid concerns. Imagine.....a dealerships customer service is describer by BMW as "deplorable" but sorry we can't do anything about it. Trying to decide between Mercedes and BMW.....consider this appalling customer service structure reaching the very top of the BMW management. Essentially, you as a BMW customer have no recourse for appalling customer service even having reached out to the top level of management who agree that the appalling customer service is happening. Beware. And if you ever have the misfortune to meet the Manageing Director of BMW Bayern Mougins, Mr Frank Rea, you will understand the arrogance that allows him to ignore Mr Zipse, the CEO of BMW. I invite the office of Mr Zipse to refute these statements and would happily retract them if they are not accurate. .....I have the written record of all I state of course.
Terrible organisation, don't communicate and don't keep promises. Never again a bmw motorbike 🖕
Awful experience at BMW Chambray Les Tours. Our car was going for a service, a week before there was a knocking noise which we reported to them and did not use the vehicle. Subsequently they took the engine apart and found filings, a significant engine failure. Customer service is awful, they tried to charge us parking at their site whilst we try to understand how bmw will investigate and resolve this manufacturing defect. They do not respond, when they do they are rude. I will also find a contact at bmw group to complain about how disrespectful their staff are
I have owned 15 BMWs in the UK with excellent sales and service from their dealers in the UK. I recently bought a Series 1 for my home in France and have to say the Sales and more significantly the Aftersales service from BMW Saumur has been dismal . The vehicle handover was a joke with no explanation of the new technologies and several items that were specified in fact not fitted. There has been zero follow up from them and problems with the sat nav system continue to be unresolved.
During one visit I entered the workshops which were disgraceful ,untidy ,dirty and disorganised generally .
Not representative of any BMW workshop I visited in the UK or appropriate for the BMW marque.
I speak with some authority having been the Vice President of one of BMWs major global suppliers and having worked directly with BMW Engineering and Production organisations in Munich .
I do intend to speak with my Senior Management contacts at BMW in Munich in order that some focus is brought to bear on the BMW sales and service operations in France.
Having bought our first BMW in the UK in 2002, we have been loyal customers ever since. The UK sales and after sales service was and is brilliant, and we have 7 BMW vehicles in my family. (M3, 3 x X5, X3, 530d, 1250RS). In France, however, we have found the service is worse than disappointing. The dealer does not even have the courtesy to acknowledge, let alone reply to our emails - still waiting for a reply to email dated 27th July at 13:52. BMW Customer Services Europe are no better and have still not come back to us as promised about our complaint. Are all the offices shut and on holiday at the same time? At the moment I have no confidence in getting my car repaired, or buying another X5 from BMW France.
