The service at Southbank brasserie…
The service at Southbank brasserie Blanc was terrible: though the food was good clearly it had sat so long at the Pass it was no lo ger hot. We had to wave for service for pudding and wave for service to pay. The Chef deserved better FoH staff than this.
Disappointed.
Though preordered as part of a group was a long wait for order and so had to order more bread and drink. Steak and chips and half a tomato very dry and bland and very expensive. Desert knife filthy dirty and very off putting.
Awful meal
Awful meal. My medium steak was burned and chewy - really slow service and no one even asked how meal was. When I mentioned when paying they didn’t even remove the service charge.
Poor service lamb too salty but otherwise ok
Not very busy in the restaurant at 16.30 yet staff too busy amongst themselves talking than to take our order. Eventually had to call someone over. The beef was excellent but the lamb was a little too salty. Desserts were good. Wine was nice. Service charge at 12.5% was far too much for the lack of service. We had to call again to order dessert! Rules was much better! However we paid the bill. Such a shame the staff were so poorly trained. I hate to think what a busy service would mean for guests!
Great food, excellent service. Brasserie Blanc thank you.
I just love the building which houses this good restaurant. We arrived to celebrate Roberts 🎈🎂 Birthday.
We were happy to see some changes to the menu from when we were last here. I chose the Crab starter with salad. This was so flavoursome and was followed by the Chicken which came with a fragrant sauce. The dessert was to "die for " and is highly recommended. It was an Espresso Mousse dish the flavours were insanely good. The service in this restaurant was top class but friendly which we love. A special shout out to Barry and the team who provided excellent service. The restaurant was really busy but everything was well managed.
We shall look forward to returning here for our future celebrations.
Thank you.
The atmosphere and food at the…
The atmosphere and food at the Portsmouth Brasserie are amazing. In addition the service we received was perfect. Lindy made certain that we waited for nothing, and that our dining experience was superb. The chef's also contributed fantastic food that was cooked to everyone's satisfaction. Many thanks
Great night
Portsmouth - we had a fabulous night here both had a 3 course feast and 5 of the 6 plates were sublime and a real joy to eat. The service was ok but could definitely improve and the atmosphere was lovely. We will happily return. My advice would be to avoid the mushroom starter it was a truly horrific plate of food. The big recommendation of the night was the pork Normandy 11/10
Choose dishes carefully!
Milton Keynes: Choose dishes carefully!. Soufflés are good. An anchovy and onion tart starter my wife had was pitifully small. The beef bourguignon was not any recipe I (or I argue most chefs) would recognise consisting of one smallish lump of chuck? steak with lardons and gravy sat on mash. No mushrooms or herbs visible . A very small side of cabbage was £4.50. Big mark up on wine as well @£10.30 for a 175ml Bordeaux. Elements of the service were slow. We won’t rush back. As ever for good French food go to France even average restaurants knock this place into a cocked hat.
Portsmouth Branch Ben
Portsmouth Branch Ben - Fourteen of us attended our work Christmas do at Brasserie Blanc in Portsmouth last night, and I honestly couldn’t fault the experience.
From start to finish, Ben, who looked after our entire booking, was absolutely exceptional. He was attentive, organised, friendly, and made sure everything ran seamlessly for a large group. Nothing was too much trouble, and his calm, professional approach really stood out.
The whole team reflected the same high standards – welcoming, efficient, and genuinely caring about making sure we all had a great evening. The service made a big difference to our night and allowed us to relax and enjoy ourselves.
Ben is a real credit and asset to the company, and so is his team. We’ll definitely be returning and would highly recommend Brasserie Blanc Portsmouth for group bookings and special occasions.
Brasserie Blanc, you need to do better
Southbank. I was expecting exceptional, it was actually way below average. Wait time to order well over 30 minutes. Food not as good as Cote Brasserie last week. Onion soup lukewarm, mains painfully slow and pretty average. Service poor. Overall overpriced and i have deleted the app as wont be going back
Very disappointing
We went to Southbank and I think it must have been a bad day. Service was attentive (sometimes a bit over-attentive) and the room was nice, if loud. There were lots of interesting-looking things on the menu.
However, I had mussels and they were not good. Perhaps they were left over from the special offer on the day before I went, but I don't think I've had such poor mussels before (to be fair, I must say that the frites with them were delicious).
The mussels were old (definitely not that day's), chewy and gritty. I could probably have forgiven that, but the sauce with them was watery and pointless. Surprisingly nasty. I was very disappointed.
Great new menu
Great new menu
The celeriac entrée was tasty, over priced though.
Mains and desserts were well presented and mostly important balanced in flavours.
Waitress was helpful and proactive.
The new app is a great addition!
Superb service
So this review relates to BB in Chichester. I organised my wife’s 70th in their private dining room (14 of us in total). We used the online meal booking facility and this worked perfectly.
Superb food, great service. All the staff went out of their way to make this a special evening; particular thanks to Saskia for her good humour and care.
Chichester - no more pre-theatre menus.
Chichester - no more pre-theatre menus.
We had become a fan of the pre-theatre menu, usually booking between 17:15 to 17:30. Tonight we found only the full dinner menu available, we weren't told before we booked.
That's really a shame, and means that we probably use other options in future.
We did note that the place was rather emptier than in the past - the manager did mention that others had mention this too, so we are not alone!
Accountants going mad?
A Lovely Evening
I recently had the pleasure of dining at the Chichester branch for an anniversary dinner, we had a Virgin Experience voucher, and I must say, it was an incredible evening! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with a warm welcome from the friendly and attentive staff, making us feel right at home.
Even though we had a set menu, there was still plenty of choice, and each dish was absolutely sensational. The flavors were delightful, and it was clear that a lot of thought and care went into each plate.
A huge thank you to the entire kitchen team and the front-of-house staff for providing such a fabulous experience. I can't wait to return and enjoy another wonderful meal!

It was my husband’s 70th Birthday so I booked a table for dinner on the 12th of April for 11 friends and family.
I found the staff to be friendly and welcoming .
The food was excellent there were no negative comments everyone said how lovely it was.
The service very good, nothing was too much trouble.
My husband thoroughly enjoyed the evening as we all did this was our first visit and it won’t be our last.
I can highly recommend a visit to everyone .
Thank you
Great venue, great service, great food
Another great visit and meal to Brasserie Blanc in Bournemouth. I took my mum for her birthday and she was treated like a princess, with a complimentary glass of Prosecco. Great location (by the sea) on a perfect sunny day and great service and food. Would highly recommend and we will be returning.
Brasserie Blanc Oxford : intense delicous seaonal flavours adapted for allergies!
A relaxed Sunday lunch full of intense seasonal flavour is a fine thing to behold and experience, as we did at a delightful meal yesterday at Brasserie Blanc Oxford.
One mark of a serious restaurant is how well it adjusts its menu to deal with customers with allergies and intolerances. Brasserie Blanc did this with style and success, without losing the essential integrity and flavours of their dishes and ingredients.
Roast meats with potatoes are a classic backbone of many Sunday lunch menus, but sadly for someone like me with a potato allergy and intolerance to cow dairy and wheat, it is no go area. I could only look and salivate at my wife’s roast beef accompanied by fluffy tall Yorkshire puddings, cauliflower cheese, gravy, a wide melange of roasted seasonal vegetables and perfectly cooked crispy roast potatoes. I did try her pink roast beef, which melted in the mouth, rich with sweet and dark flavours —cut with some punchy horseradish sauce to add some heat. No surprise then she judged it the ‘best roast I have ever eaten out’. An accolade indeed, since she is no mean producer of fine roasts herself.
I chose the Poulet à la Moutarde, adapted for my quirks, and with its potato mousseline replaced by roast vegetables accompanied by french beans, chicken crackling, lardons and mushrooms. Too often roast vegetables, cooked at home or in restaurant kitchens, have overdone onions, under or overcooked cooked carrots , but this melange of carrots, baby onions, garlic, parsnips, was well graded and full of spring’s promise. Combined with well sourced succulent chicken (subtle with mustard, maybe a bit more of it could help, but it’s no big deal), good quality lardons and mushrooms; it was a fine and satisfying main course; washed down by a very drinkable Argentinian Malbec.
For dessert a vibrant blackcurrant sorbet was my fine palate refresher, and my wife had a well crafted trifle, with distinctive layers and rhubarb soft, not over sweetened, and retaining its structure. I had begun the meal with Jerusalem Artichoke & Winter Leek Salad, adapted for me and without its sesame tuil. The truffle & mustard dressing added spark to the light salad that welcomed brighter days. What a memorable experience it all was.
The service was as ever excellent; friendly, helpful and attentive, without being over intrusive or clingy. All in all we had a great lunch and well done to all at Brasserie Blanc!
Yet again Emily and the team at BB…
Yet again Emily and the team at BB Oxford made a weekday lunch fabulous!! We are a couple of retirees who get on a bus for an hour to go to Oxford for this brasserie....
Food is great and obviously freshly cooked with a regular change of menu in line with the seasons.Atmosphere is relaxed and comforting BUT the staff still make us feel special as if we were in a much more expensive venue.
Can't praise BB Oxford enough..... see you soon!!
