Failed or refusing to supply statements…

We have been with this company for a very long time. At the beginning it was owned by the founders who were two university graduates who understood the system and prided themselves on great customer service.
Eventually they sold this successful company to an American parent company called iomart.
Since then, service has gone down to the extent that not only have they forced us to remove publicly available documents which are in the public domain, they have also imposed serious price hikes and now that we are trying to close our account they have ignored request to let us have full statements of account reflecting payments in as well as payments out and any outstanding.
We are desperate to settle any outstanding bill. We have no intention of running off, but these people simply send out invoices and ignore any correspondence.
Even when we reach out to the support staff who are generally pretty good and attempt to contact their own finance department directly, we are still ignored.
Once upon a time we would have recommended this company unhesitatingly even if their prices were marginally higher than their competitors.
Now, we can only recommend that you avoid this company and find another hosting organisation

Since being bought by an American…

Since being bought by an American company the service at Bytemark has been terrible. This is accompanied by several price increases. We went with bytemark to support a local hosting company but they have gone the opposite way.

My company and all of my clients recommended to use them will be moving elsewhere. I suggest nobody uses them.

Gone to the dogs

Three years ago this would have been a 5 star review. Now it's a 1 star review. Why?

Iomart. Bytemark is now owned by Iomart who are a waste of space.

24/7 support has disappeared and out of hours support has been replaced with "support" staff who clearly have no access to the equipment and whose job it is to simply stall you until the actual support staff arrive in the mornings. I had a server outage after office hours which they refused to respond to. In the morning an actual engineer moved my VPS to a new head and it was back online shortly after. After HOURS of downtime and being constantly gaslit by the out of hours "support" staff.

This is in addition to the fact that the service has been getting less and less stable since the move to Iomart.

Bytemark's prices have always been uncompetitive, but at least you got great support for your money. Not any more. At roughly 40% greater cost than DigitalOcean but with support from 9am to 5pm ONLY I am left wondering where that extra cash is going.

Then in December 2020 they sent a cryptic email to all customers saying they were hiking the prices of their services by 9%. That email didn't list their BigV service, so I thought little of it. Until the end of January 2021 when they sent out a further equally confusingly written email saying that their original email included their virtual servers service. To the best of my knowledge they don't have a service of that name so had to email them for a THIRD clarification. And finally they confirmed it included the BigV service. They gave me FOUR DAYS notice of a 9% price hike.

Utterly disgusting and inexcusable.

I'm now in the process of having to dismantle everything that I have built at Bytemark to move it to a better service. This company is a disgrace.

Happy to work with scammers

Happy to work with a well known scam company 'short insure' who con people out of £50 a time.

After contacting bytemark and making them aware of how disgusting these scum are, they were unwilling to do anything and continue to host these scam artists.
