I paid for 12 months Canva usage and only got 11 months!

I paid for 12 months Canva usage and now Canva refuses to give me 12 months – they simply downgraded my subscription to the free option after the 11th month and refuses to refund me for the remaining month.
Here’s what happened:
On August 14th, 2026, I contacted Canva help to request whether my annual auto renewal could be processed earlier on August 25th. It’s supposed to auto renew on September 23rd, but I will have a bit of extra money this month (August) when I get paid on the 25th.
This was explained in my email and the agent (human or AI, I’m not sure because the response was robotic), stated that they will try and move the auto-renewal date as requested. A few hours later, I got an email from the same agent stating that the system encountered errors and couldn’t change the auto-renewal date (no specifics were given).
The agent then confirmed that the auto-renewal date was left unchanged for September 23rd, 2026.
Yesterday, August 17th 2026, when I tried to use my Canva, I was greeted by a huge and ugly watermark on all my work with the option to upgrade my subscription. Confused, I reached out to Canva again and was contacted by a new agent stating that Canva had downgraded me to the free option because payment failed.
From my bank statement I could tell that several attempts were made by Canva to process a payment WEEKS before the renewal date. This was not advised to me beforehand. At no point did any agent inform me that I needed to have funds in my bank account to simply change the renewal date.
Irrespective of whether the renewal date remained September 23rd, 2026 or was changed to August 25th, 2026, in my opinion the fact that I didn’t have funds in my bank account shouldn’t have impacted the subscription as BOTH dates are in the future and no agent informed me that changing the renewal date or KEEPING the renewal date as is required any sort of payment from my side.
So now, my canva has been downgraded to the free option despite me paying for 12 months which only expires on September 23rd 2026.
The canva help agent’s attitude was extremely nonchalant and basically “oh well, make sure you have funds in your account or you can’t use your Canva”…. But I STILL HAVE A FULL MONTH OF A SUBSCRIPTION LEFT!
They refuse to reinstate my subscription as it was and they refuse to refund me for the period of August 14th 2026 to September 23rd 2026 (a period I paid for but can’t use Canva)

Canva is NOT the upgrade they promise it to be

Canva is clunky and not at all smooth in operation. Issues with uploading fonts. Does not directly copy all fonts & designs from pdf. Alters uploads from chat gpt. Canva AI does not complete instructions well at all. I should be able to manually change what I need to do as I always have, esp in Layers. I am not resistant to change entirely, but this is NOT an easy transition even with my level of experience nor is it an upgrade for creatives. While I am trying to give myself time to learn more about Canva, I do hope I can find better software to purchase as a long term solution because it really is not an overall improvement.

Canva is helpful, but some changes could be made.

Canva has been very helpful, but I feel like they are pushing their upgrades too much. I am pretty tight on finances right now, so I can't afford to be spending that much for a nicer Canva experience. One thing I really like about them is their free monthly credits for their AI. The AI is good quality and using it a little every month is free! Lastly though, maybe they could make it a little easier to navigate the site. The first time I was on there I was pretty confused...

I use this platform for my creative work projects and it's so easy to navigate and use. I have tried other platforms and nothing compares. My most recent project involves a 5 minute video to explain a process. I have used the new AI voice reader and that's been great to apply instead of my own voice.

Only attempt to use this system if you…

Only attempt to use this system if you have plenty of time and patience and an agile mind and a keen eye for disappearing cursors. It is very unfriendly for a first time user. Maybe if you persist with it you will get results. You would do better to learn creative drawing skills and use some simple Word Art - like program to finish it. So many posters nowadays feel cliched and unoriginal, and not likely to capture attention due to this curse of AI technology.

Fourth time was (not) the charm

This is the fourth time I submitted the documents and I finally received a clear (negative) response.
The first time I sent some documents and they rejected me on the grounds that I did not have an online presence (did not have a website) even though I had Social media and the website was in the works.
After I finalised the website, I applied again and they asked me to provide clarification as a reply to a non-responsive email (I received back the answer that the mail is not monitored). After a while, I got the response that my application was rejected due to non-response. After that rejection email, I received another email with clarification on the legal representative. After my response to that email, i did not receive any answer and also no way to respond
After a while, I have applied again. This time i got the reply email that my application was rejected due to filing it in the wrong category (I filed it unde NGO category).
Finally, I ased their personalised AI to help me get clarification and it found me some email address from which I got some clarification that (through another AI, not a human), actually, I got rejected because, I the documents, even though the organisation was an NGO, it was not a CHARITY NGO. I dont know what a charity NGO does because we provide free training courses to our target group with the help of our sponsors.
I decided to quit and to use CLAUDE and GEMINI NOTEBOOK to develop our materials and brand kit

We have had a Canva account for years

We have had a Canva account for years. I had to change the email and credit card associated with the account when someone retired. Instead of was able to do this online. However, Can a has continued to charge the old credit card for several months now. I have found no way to contact a live person to resolve the issue. The chatbot/AI assistant is no help at all. I have spent several hours over the past 2 months to resolve. It is maddening.
