BEWARE: SCAMMERS

I brought my car in for a fender bender. No frame issues. No axle or wheel issues. Needed new right front fender and repaired passenger door.

Only after I agreed to the estimate and paid a deposit for them to start did they end up saying that based on the repairs they also had to recalibrate the eyesight system. In order to do that, they had to remove the windshield tint and the housing unit for the Eyesight system on the ceiling, and then reinstall both.

1. They charged me for all of that extra work. And when I pressed them on how all of that could be necessary based on the damage, I was told only “it’s necessary”

2. That did not sound right to me, so after the car was finished I took it in for a regular service appointment at the dealership where I bought the car new. I showed them the itemized invoice. The shop foreman, the service tech, and the service manager all agreed there was absolutely no way all that extra work was required.

3. The dealership even tried contacting Carstar on my behalf repeatedly over several months and Carstar refused to take their calls or call them back.

4. Not only did they bait and switch me, they also damaged the Eyesight housing by stabbing their pry tool against it repeatedly and failing - all part of the unnecessary work.

5. Not only are they dishonest and careless, they’re also lazy. They didn’t even reassemble the Eyesight housing unit correctly, and because the step they missed required them undoing the reassembly and doing it again, they just said screw it and left the part in the cupholder - again, all part of the unnecessary work.
