Absolutely avoid this company. They failed to pack up some of my belongings from my home so I had to get them to return and when I finally got my shipping 6 months later several items were broken. I accept breakages happen but putting heavy stone ornaments on top of China plates isn’t an accident it is negligent ! A whole box of irreplaceable goods were missing and the companies response was “not our problem “ . I never received my goods and as it was possibly the most valuable of my boxes I’m not sure whether it was an accident or not that it was lost. Insurance cannot cover memories or the items that were collected over years . Their attitude when something goes wrong stinks !

They are nice people and communicate efficiently, but the service isn’t as good as it was 19 years ago when we moved out to Perth Australia from the UK… this year I came back and the Australian packers ruined a feature wall by managing to take a large Chunk out of the plaster, (and not telling me) and, unbelievably, they packed a fragile beautiful clay art sculpture in the same box as a heavy tool box! So naturally, it arrived broken. If I’d seen them do it I would have stopped them but they wrap stack and pack so quickly. The pair of `Australian Packers just didn’t care and just wanted to get out as fast as possible. Expensive service really for such shoo]day care. Doubt they would pack their own like it. Wish I’d packed it myself really; I told myself they would do a good job but not really impressed.

These guys stepped in at the last minute and help me out after being let down by another company.
Calum & Matt were fantastic - helpful, polite, considered and did a really great job - I would highly recommend.

Thank you to the Chess team for a professional and efficient service. Ryan and his team of Ant, Matt T and Chuck were courteous and polite and ensured we were happy at every stage of the move. They made the whole process stress free, I would highly recommend Chess removals!

I can't say enough about how pleased we were with how CMR carried out our office move. The men were punctual, quick,efficient,nothing too much trouble and all the time being cheerful,helpful and positive. The quote was very reasonable too!

This review is for a HORRIBLE experience I have had with this company - called Chess Movers/Maintenance 3 commercial, earlier this year in April to June 2019.
I never write online reviews but I would be doing a disservice to anyone using this company for moving, if I don't share my terrible experience. I also had to recently file a complaint with the trading standards and citizens bureau so that they don’t continue preying on future targets.
At first glance, their curated website and reviews (which they’ve spent a considerable amount of time embellishing) comes across as professional and honest.
It appears at first like a respectable removal service but it absolutely is not based on my experience; the company does not make good on its promises, disappears and becomes unreachable and then after breaching their contract by not fulfilling a Major term sends you invoices for services they did not perform.
Moving is a very stressful endeavor – nothing goes according to plan even when you plan multiple months in advance. Most families have jobs, kids, existing commitments as well as time and budgetary constraints. Some moves are also unplanned making the aforementioned even more difficult. A moving company that can help you successfully through the process is imperative. This is why you simply cannot afford the mistake I made of doing business with these guys.
Chess Removals prides itself in “offering a reliable, professional, stress free removal without charging sky high prices”.
Unfortunately this mission statement is all gimmicks and this is why…
** I had several calls with Chess removals company in April and May 2019 for a June 2019 move. Prior to our move I spent valuable time evaluating Chess’s original quote against several other local moving companies.
At the time it was imperative that I get packaging as part of our service – I had 3 rooms to move + 2 bathrooms + 1 living room and a dining room and a kitchen to move and no time to do the packaging ourselves. I informed Chess on several occasions over the phone and over email prior to signing their booking form that I absolutely need to have packaging if I was to use them for my move –this was simply a Major term for me in the contract and especially being weeks away from the move.
Their unprofessional assistant Katie – promised me that Packaging would be included and available as part of their service over the phone and that it wouldn’t be a problem – she reassured that the company, Chess, would be able to fulfill on this important Major term of the contract. Only to push me to sign their contract. Upon signing I also made sure to check mark that again packaging was an important item that I needed as part of the contract
Only after I signed their form – and several days go by – I get an email from their incompetent assistant Katie notifying me that they would not be able to do the packaging service – I then proceeded to reach out on multiple occasions back to Katie only to realize that she had disappeared - no one was picking up the phones or my calls and or responding to my emails DAYS BEFORE my move.
I had to cancel the service as a result and scramble to find a replacement company that could do the job with packaging as I had requested.
Any professional, honorable company at this point would realize that they made a mistake, breached a major term in their contract by promising packaging only and try to do good by their reputation.
I then get an invoice from Chess for cancellation of their contract claiming moneys for a service that they did not deliver and a contract they breach! Completely unacceptable
Notwithstanding the above – DO YOUR HOMEWORK BEFORE USING THESE GUYS!!
** They charge you a premium compared to their competitors for a sub-par service
This service is not affordable – this is an un-bundled service where they charge you a base (cheap) fee and for every single add on is marked at premium
** disappearing on your customers once you sign on the dotted line is unacceptable!

Made two appointments to get a quote to move house. They failed to turn up for either appointment. The second appointment they didn’t even bother to let us know they couldn’t make it. And we’d cut short a family party to get back for the appointment. Awful, shoddy poor service.
