CITI Advantage Credit Cards wors Customer Service Ever!

After more than 5 years using AAdvantage Credit Card, paying 100% full balance every month, in last January I had a situation of fraud in my Bank, the one used to pay CITI my monthly balance. I solved it immediately and I changed the account number immediately to avoid any issues. Unfortunately, in parallel was the intent to have the payment directly to CITI. Because the new account needed 24 hr for the update, so, I got $30 US fee. I called convinced that the explanation was clear, but the agent did not really listen. I got so mad that I cancelled the credit card, despite losing the access to the Admirals Club and lose the chance to make the miles with my expenses. I paid the balance full after closing the account. Two weeks later I got the interest fees. I called surprised and the agent again similar to the first one, did not listen and I had to pay. This is the worst customer service in all USA, CITI bank does not care about their customers. I decided to take the time to do reviews everywhere to help people deciding where to have your accounts or credit cards. American Airlines must consider a different bank for the alliance, I needed the Admirals access as well, but because of CITI I rather to move to America Express Platinum card and the centurion VIP rooms. Last comment, I sent an email to the emails listed in CITI, telling my story, but, I never got an answer.

The international call centers in India…

The international call centers in India is so frustrating to deal with because it’s like talking to a robot who just goes off of the script with generic answers. They give fake names so you can’t even report them. When asked to be transferred to a US representative so that you can get your issue resolved, they refuse to do so. They leave you on long holds just to repeat a scripted line. It is extremely unnecessary and frustrating. Either they need better training so they actually help or just transfer the call to a US representative. Ugh!

Horrible company

Horrible company! They will give credit cards out but beware....they cut your credit line down in a few months to a point where your usage goes from 25% to 95%! I'm paying mine off and closing my account ASAP!!!

After 14 years of doing business with…

After 14 years of doing business with Citibank, my credit card account was suddenly closed without meaningful warning or a clear explanation.

As a direct result, my credit score dropped 40 points. Closing a long-standing account reduced my available credit, increased my utilization ratio, and shortened my credit history — causing real financial damage.

What’s even more frustrating is that everything appears to be handled by automated systems. There was no real person available to properly explain the decision or review the situation. After 14 years of loyalty and responsible use, being treated like a number by an algorithm is extremely disappointing.

A 40-point drop affects loan approvals, interest rates, and financial opportunities. I expected transparency, fairness, and actual customer service from a major bank — not automation with no accountability.

Very disappointing experience.

Numerous times I have paid my entire card off only to have my credit limit withheld for up to two weeks. Utterly ridiculous unethical and illegal in my opinion. Customer service just keeps repeating the same garbage how they have a right to hold on to my available credit.

Terrible customer service

Terrible customer service. The worst people I have ever had to deal with I highly recommend you stay away from these criminals as they will take your money and not credit it to your account until after they charge you the monthly interest so they can make more money off of you.

⭐☆☆☆☆

After 10+ years as a loyal customer, Citi closed my Costco card over a returned payment without any real consideration of my history. I prioritized this card over others with better benefits, only to have them shut it down right before rewards were due. It honestly feels like they took my rewards. You act like thieves. This is not how you treat long-term customers. Completely unacceptable.

The nightmare of citi bank

I have several credit cards and the customer service answers immediately and things are taken care of, your company, City bank is the worst thing i've ever dealt with. I've spent two months trying to correct an issue, every time I call I was outsourced so many times I hung up on , I'd be on the phone for 3 plus hours. I finally set up a payment arrangement and closed my account.I will never deal with city card again. Your customer service is the worst thing ever. You should fix it or you're going to lose all your customers.Goodbye!

Citibank has the worst customer…

Citibank has the worst customer service. I had to contact them 5 times and to date my issue is still unresolved. I have dealt with extreme incompetence and liars in the fraud department, all over a single disputed transaction. 12 fraudulent transactions posted to my account on the same day from the same merchant. This was in a city I had not visited in more than a decade. The email addresses associated with the online charges were absurd- even a caveman would have recognized the fraud- yet no flag was generated when the transactions occurred.
After I disputed the transactions, 11 were resolved, but one was not. I made 5 separate attempts through customer service and the fraud department to resolve them and I was met with ignorance and incompetence. One employee told me that I had charged a certain amount and only paid a certain amount- I asked for the date of that transaction, and she could not provide it. I then asked to speak to a supervisor because she was clearly lying to me.
I just finished my 5th call to resolve it and was told the investigator will get to it as soon as they can.
AVOID CITIBANK AT ALL COSTS!!!

Tired of overseas operators

I have to agree with other reviewers. Citi's move to move customer service completely oversees all the time leaves you completely unsatisfied. It is difficult to understand. It's not my fault I was born in America. Why don't we have the jobs here. They are welcome to have jobs overseas to support overseas people. I'm just tired of it. When I need help I need help. I just want somebody I can understand and I don't think that's too much to ask considering they charge among the highest interest rates of any card out there. If there was any other way to get American airlines points I would do it.

I have a dispute and each time I call I get a different answer. Customer service sucks. Their dispute dept also is soooo incompetent. I've made several calls and then found out the case has been closed, the charge put back on my visa statement. So I had to reopen the case. Then I got an email the next day saying case was resolved in my favor, yet the amounts were wrong. So I had to make changes to get it all straightened out. I'm still not sure it is correct!!! What a joke. I've had this card for years and am going to change cards once this dispute is resolved. So far this has taken 6 phone calls and long wait times and many minutes on the phone, only to have to keep calling back. I sent 7 emails the other day and the dispute person would not look at them when I was on the phone with her!!! Awful, awful, awful!!!!!! How do these reps keep their jobs

Terrible company to be a customer for.

They unexpectedly closed all of my credit card accounts with them. I am willing to pay off all debt so that I no longer have to be a customer for this company. I called them if they can lower my APR on my cards so that I can pay them off faster, but said they could not because the accounts are closed and that there was nothing they can do. Every time I have been on the phone with this company, I have always received terrible customer service.

My problems started 5 months ago

My problems started 5 months ago. I order an item on the net. After that I start receiving claim on my credit card from all over the world. I called and eventually they replace my card and 0 debt. All good. A month later that original charge show up again! I called and started a dispute. I spoke for the next few months with a lot of customer representatives from different departments, all calls ended with them telling me the case was forwarding to INVESTIGATION department. After 5 months I was so frustrated that when I call I told them to close the account. Now is January and they reported me to trans uninon for an amount 5 times bigger than original purchase.
My response to all of this was to lock al three credit cards. What is to be my next response ?? I will have to clear my credit report. But they will not get a penny from me!
Conclusion do not get a cc from CITI. They have the worst possible Customer Service and they will not care at all about you! They offer protection from fake and not delivered merchants, but if anything go wrong they will not protect you. In so many years I brought them a lot of business, maybe 100 or more times than the amount they wanted me to pay for a thing that was never delivered and prove that was fraudulent since as of now that site dissipear, not on the intrrnet any more.
Please for your own good do not get a CC with Citi!

Dreadful, frustrating and useless phone service

If I could give a zero score I would. The Citi helpline I rung is AI/automated. I battled with it for 6 minutes before it hung up - it could not understand my card number, did not understand my questions, related information I did not want to hear (like transaction history) and then decided it had done enough and hung up. Frustrating does not even begin to cover it! As for the actual issue, I did not get to address that. It is clearly trying to avoid passing you to a real human at all costs...

By far the worst on-line bank i've tried (out of 6)

I've used the citi website twice, the first time to active the payement card i'm expected by my company to use for business expenses, the second time because my first payment with this card was refused. Each time the authentification process failed, the recovery processed failed, the customer support failed, and "actual human" support was worst than the bot.
Eventually, I've able to activate my card by following the "I've not received my card" process that has a security flow allowing to open the account and activate your card without providing its number. And I've used one of my personal cards to make my payements.
