Provide Documentation By FAX or SNAIL MAIL ONLY?

My experience with Citi is based exclusively on using their 2% back credit card. And it's actually been really good. Even my experience with disputing charges has been really good. But... I just disputed a charge, and indicated that I have proof of the merchant's cancellation policy. They asked me to send it in - by fax or U.S. Mail! Is this 1995 or 2025?

Ridiculous dispute resolution

I reached out to the bank because I returned things to Territory Ahead and never received a refund. I presented information to Citi that proved the items were returned. Yet, they denied my claim.

I've had similar situations with other credit cards and never had an issue. I'm closing my account. Stay away

Horrible and Complete Disappointment

I’ve had a very disappointing experience with Citibank, particularly with their credit card practices. They unexpectedly lowered my credit limit and closed my account, which had a negative impact on my credit score. Based on my personal experience, I would not feel comfortable recommending Citibank for banking or credit card services to my friends or family

Absolutely ridiculously AWFUL service

Absolutely, ridiculously bad. I've never seen anything like this! I'm trying to get a replacement company card and it's been going on for almost TWO MONTHS, still without a card.
Okay, partly my company's faulty internal processes are to blame, but I can't review an internal process... So here's what Citi did:
My card got compromised early July, so I called Citi to cancel, which they did promptly. I asked for a replacement card, to which the answer was: no-no-no, you need to talk to your company's program administrator. So I did.
The PA (claimed to have) submitted a request for a card, I asked for expedited service as I need to book upcoming travel. Extra chard is 65 EUR, approval needed. Done.
I left on 3 weeks vacation, hoping to return to find a new card on my desk, found nothing.
Called my PA who said that the initial information was wrong, I have to apply for a card myself via CitiManager.
This was done, but there was no option to expedite. PA said they'll call Citi to make sure it's expedited. They did, but Citi put it through normal post.
One morning I check my CitiManager, and see TWO cards in addition to the cancelled one in my account. The first one saying "blocked - lost/stolen". On the same day I get a text from DHL that Citi is shipping me my new card. Hooray! Next day, card is there, BUT it's the one they cancelled (as they shipped normal instead of expedited, so they decided to reverse it by cancelling and shipping a new one).
Now it turns out the new one ISN'T EXPEDITED EITHER. We are now 7 weeks out from the initial request!!! And still no card.
So now I get another text from DHL saying it has shipped out from the UK - but it is now ON HOLD in some facility in my country, no idea why.
Nobody seems to know anything, there are cards circulating somewhere in the ether, I now have a non-working cancelled card, a non-working brand new card that was cancelled by Citi, and no new card since 7 weeks and can't book my upcoming business travel.
AND likely they'll still charge me 65 EUR for the non-existent expedited process!
Interesting fact that for the disputed fraudulent charge they did process it at light speed and declined the request... Want a bunch of suckers this company is, unbelievable.

Swindlers and cheaters!

It's sad that such a renown bank, but acts like a poor small business, cheating on its clients. Totally agree with previous reviewers giving it 1 star!
Started as the CitiGold (!) was promised a welcome bonus, but never received it even after opening the case in customer service. Banking services are really poor and slow - they were opening my investment account for 2 months! Eventually, after 6 months of banking and having THE MOST FRUSTRATING banking experience ever, decided to close my accounts.

I’ve had one of the most frustrating…

I’ve had one of the most frustrating experiences with Citi Card and will never recommend them. I was denied help for a faulty rental car situation, even though I had all the proof and documentation. On top of that, their interest rates are sky-high, and trying to get in touch with a real person is a nightmare. You get transferred around, placed on long holds, and never get clear answers. They are quick to charge you but slow to provide any real customer service or resolution. I’ve had credit cards with other companies that treat their customers far better Citi could learn a thing or two about fairness, transparency, and basic respect for people’s time.

Citi bank is the worse bank I’ve ever banked with

Citibank has held my money since July 4, 2025, and keeps telling me that I need to wait for a letter to get it unlocked. My SSDI checks are deposited into this bank, and now they will be sent back because of this issue. I can't get my medications and my dog's meds because he's terminally ill and I’m about to lose my apartment and I can’t wait any longer for them to unlock my account. Anyone have any advise?

Dave Stewart/ Troy Stewart /Milton Stewart estate

We would like to lodge a formal complaint against CITIBANK and they way they have dealt with the Savings account of Milton Theodore Stewart.

We have been trying to arrange for my brother Troy Stewart to receive his inheritance for 6 years now - however it seems that we get stalled at every level with a new request for a new document. I have sent many documents which now seem unnecessary and to obtain them each time I have had unnecessary trips to get these officially recognised. A while ago when we first were in conversation with Citibank a person that we were in contact with had just asked us where we would like the cheque for the balance on the account to be sent - without any documents being asked for ? Now we have spent months producing documents and are still not further forward.

Myrna K Haglund seemed to be helping but each time we provide a document then another one is needed - what is going on ? Also it seems each time we try to make contact- we have to wait for an answer and often each answer gives us another question to ask and so it goes on and on just wasting time it seems

Our calls go unanswered and now our emails too. It actually seems like CITIBANK do not want to give Troy his money

We have now not heard from anyone at Citibank in over 2 weeks despite us sending yet again more documentation that was asked for ??? What is going on ???? How can you just stop communicating with people that you have been dealing with for over a year now on a weekly basis ???

We were sent to the IRS to ask them for certain documents and yet the IRS are asking us why are we going to them ! In fact they are now asking us questions and we have no idea - we do not live in the States and never have. We only have Myrna to rely on as this is the only person we have had contact with in regards to the late Milton Stewart's estate - this was who told us that Milton put Troy as his beneficiary however we have never seen proof of this ? And when we ask for the document we get no answer. How do we know this to be true ? As far as we were aware in the family our father Milton had added Junior Stewart and Troy Stewart but there is now no mention of this ?

We have been trying to make contact but there is no answer to emails or phone calls . So what do we do now?

The documents we have supplied are listed here plus we have attached the last ones here 👎
Power of attorney from Troy to Dave Stewart
Many apostilles as requested
Letter from the executors of the will

There is no tax to be paid as his tax was up to date and he has not other assets in the US - we have sent proof of this to you . Troy will also be gifting an amount to Dave Stewart once he receives his inheritance payment.

We really are stuck as to what they next step can be if you have stopped communicating with us - as far as I can see the only way to get any movement is to go public with this issue so hopefully someone picks up on it and finally we can resolve the long outstanding matter.

Nowhere at any point have we been told why things are taking so long ...............

I’m very disappointed with my recent…

I’m very disappointed with my recent experience using Citibank’s online bill pay system. In late 2023, I canceled a scheduled recurring payment to Recology San Mateo. Despite this, Citi continued to process the payments quarterly — up through May 2025—without my authorization.
When I discovered the issue, I visited a local Citi branch, but they were unable to help at all and referred me to online support. After a 30-minute wait, I was finally connected to a customer service agent (around 5:08 PM Pacific Time) who was dismissive and rude. She insisted that the cancellation had not been completed on my end, even though I saw no active recurring payments in my account. While she claimed to have canceled future payments during the call, she ended the conversation abruptly and without any patience or proper closure. I will continue to monitor my account to verify whether the cancellation was truly processed.
This experience has left me feeling helpless, but with no clear path for escalation or proper resolution. Given the unauthorized payments, lack of accountability, and poor customer service, I have decided to close my Citi account and will no longer use Citibank in the future.

Absolutely the worst internationally…

Absolutely the worst if you’re trying to use the card when traveling abroad. The customer service representative generally don’t speak very good English and have very cheap equipment, so the sound quality is bad. Unlike Capital One and other credit cards I have, their system is so antiquated that they can’t send a text to an international number to confirm the validity of a charge, and they refuse to add email verification to their services, which they used to offer. If it weren’t for the fact that American’s mileage program is good, I wouldn’t be bothered with this horrible card

If I could give zero stars

If I could give zero stars, I would definitely do that. Even one star is too generous for Citi. Unfortunately, I have 5 accounts with Citi and I regret it. I used their credit card and loan offers, which was a big mistake. I also took one of their credit cards to use while traveling to Europe, which basically ruined my vacation. I have never had a late payment or missed payment in my history and I always pay my monthly payments well above the minimum. However, they keep decreasing my limit as I pay, causing me to always be at 90% credit usage, which is damaging. During my Vaction ,Every time I use my card, they block it for fraud even though I had submitted a travel notice on my card before traveling. I had to call them and go through the security check process. Citi is awful, they try to appear like a good bank but they are not reliable at all. I can't wait to pay off my card and never use Citi again. I do not recommend them to anyone. There are better banks like Chase, don't waste your time with this worthless bank's credit cards.

VERY DECEPTIVE MONEY BACK PRACTICES

VERY DECEPTIVE MONEY BACK PRACTICES I had 6440 points earned for the cash back feature on my card, yet when I went to redeem them I was only allowed to redeem 4800 or those points......the 2% cash back feature is a lie, in truth you're only allowed partial cash back on the monthly statement......LIARS!

Citibank will close your account for trading crypto

Citibank will close your account for transferring your own money to coinbase. They will then take up to 2 months to close your account and keep your money. Citibank should be held accountable for their anti crypto practices and their theft.

Beware of the Costco Citibank Visa…

Beware of the Costco Citibank Visa Card. On March 1st I made a $2,000.00 payment over the phone directly from my checking account. The rep said that it would not be reflected as received until March 12th. Being able to invest my payment for 11 days is nothing short of stealing in my opinion. They are double dipping. While they earn interest on my payment I have to pay them more on my credit card balance.

Citibank is Holding My Money – Beware!

Citibank is Withholding My Money – No Resolution!

I have been a Citibank customer, but I am extremely disappointed with their service. They are refusing to release my savings, despite multiple attempts to resolve the issue. I have called, emailed, and even sent formal letters, yet I keep getting vague responses with no real solution.

A bank should be transparent and reliable, but Citibank is making it impossible to access my own money. This is completely unacceptable. If you’re considering banking with them, think twice—customer service is unhelpful, and getting access to your own funds should not be a battle.

I expect an immediate resolution, but based on my experience so far, I wouldn’t recommend Citibank to anyone.

CITI CARD HAS A THOUSAND DOLLARS OF MY MONEY FOR ALMOST TWO MONTHS THEY ARE NOT POSTING ON MY ACCOUNT

I have an AT & T Universal Card with Citi Card. On December 15th they received TWO payments from me by USPS Money Orders in the mail. One payment was for $999.78 and the other was for $999.87. These are two similar but different amounts, two different money orders in two different envelopes mailed to them. Citi Card credited me with ONLY the $999.78. So I'm basically missing $1,000. Multiple phone calls, always with people overseas in customer service have added up to several hours at this point to no avail. In January 2025 I opened a "payment dispute inquiry" for the $999.87 they never posted to my account and they gave me a "conditional credit". It went under what was supposed to be a careful review and I received a letter saying "we found your payment for $999.78 posted on December 15, 2024 so we are adding the $999.78 back to your credit card". They then added back the $999.87 onto the credit card. Not only did Citi Card not credit me with the payment for $999.87 on December 15 but even though I explained to them in the inquiry process that there appears to be confusion about the dollar amounts being so close, they apparently pay no attention to detail on a review of a large missing payment caused by their error. Essentially it was a NON-review of the missing payment due to the carelessness of the reviewer not recognizing the difference in the dollar amount. I even sent them a copy of the two different money orders showing they were similar but different amounts and pointed out that they only credited my payment for $999.78 and never credited me for the other payment of $999.87. I spent $20.15 for USPS to obtain a copy of the payment for $999.87. They, in fact got that missing payment but did not credit it to my account. On December 15 Citi Card wrote my full account number on the front of this money order, the date of December 15, 2024 and the dollar amount of $999.87, all written by hand on the front of the money order by a Citi Card employee. The back of the money order shows it was processed and deposited by Citi Card. I have provided them with all this information to the department they told me to send it to and almost a week later they still have not credited my account for the payment for $999.87 they received and processed on 12/15/24. I call over and over again and keep getting people overseas who cannot help. I made this payment and they processed the money order, and cashed it, on December 15, 2024 as the copy of the money order proves. I also provided them with a letter from USPS that states they cashed the money order. It is now February 10, 2025, almost two months later and for all my effort since the beginning of January Citi Card has not corrected this obvious error. And I can't communicate with the payment department. Efforts on my part to get a Conditional credit for the amount of $999.87 while Citi Card drags their feet on a review of this obvious proof that they received the payment are also unsuccessful so my card balance appears to be $1,000 higher than what it really is. To date this is unresolved on a payment received and processed by Citicard on December 15, 2024 but not credited to my account.
