Worst customer service I have ever…

Worst customer service I have ever experienced!. I called to verify that I opened the correct checking account. Someone named Marco was the customer service rep. He was rude, impatient, and extremely unprofessional. He had a negative tone in his voice when he answered. I asked him if he could verify I opened the correct checking account since I’m a brand new customer. He asked me for my account number. I said I just opened it and didn’t finish online registration and don’t have it. He refused to look it up by my name or social security number. I asked if I could speak with his supervisor. He replied “why because you don’t have your information?” As I started explaining that I hadn’t set up the online access so I don’t have my account information he hung up on me. I haven’t even received my debit card yet.
This is honestly the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced in my 50 years of existence. I manage 75 people. If one of my associates spoke to a customer like this, he would have been fired immediately.

Balance Transfer NIGHTMARE

Took the card out to do a balance transfer. Approval and card were quick to arrive. That's when the nightmare began. Every time I go into the account, I get a FRAUD ALERT and have to contact a call center in an unknown country. (lots of call center noise in the background, hard to understand the accent(s)). This center wants you to give them ALL your bank info verbally --not just CITI card info, but other bank info too. In other words, not just the last 4 digits, but FULL INFO. This info was already given to CITI digitally (secure). Note: this supposed CITI call center comes up as SPAM on my cell phone. Hmmmm. I've called different times, multiple reps, and they all seem to have a slightly different story/script. Nothing ever gets done. THEY JUST WANT TO DELVE INTO OTHER PERSONAL BANKING ACCOUNT INFO Fraud likely? Most likely. Seems like a classic scam. Next they'll want your FULL ssn#.

I was looking to improve my credit by…

I was looking to improve my credit by opening up another line of credit. If I knew then what I know now, I NEVER would've opened it with this company.

They have a "Citi Double Cash Card" that they spam you in the mail. Told me I was "pre-qualified." I looked around online, and it seemed like their rewards program was one of the better ones out there. On top of that, they were offering a special in the letter, stating "spend $600 within six months, and get $200 cash back." So, I call in, the woman asks for my information "so she can pull my offer up" (I later found from their website it's the same exact offer they offer everyone). She claimed she saw "the offer given to me in the mail," and set me up with an account.

Well, I eventually get my card, and a while after I did, I was looking around at the account online. I didn't see any way to track the $600 spent, nor the offer even mentioned anywhere in my account. So, I called in to make sure that it was properly added to the account. Well, the cs rep I talked to played stupid, like he had no clue what I was talking about. I called him out on his BS, and said "it's the SAME EXACT offer you have on your company website where a person applies for the card! How can you NOT be aware of the offer right on your application page of your own company's website?!" Again, he continued to play stupid and told me there was nothing he could do. I told him I needed the contact information for corporate. Instead, he claimed the only thing he could give me was an email for "application offer issues." Of course, I haven't heard a word back from them, and it's going on a week now since I emailed them.

I've found a corporate # online, and plan to contact them tomorrow since I'll finally have some free time. But, I've had to waste a bunch of my time trying to get this cleared up, and if corporate doesn't resolve this, I'm closing out my account. I mean lying right from the very start!!!

I advise you stay away from them, as they are clearly a crooked company. From what I've seen based on reviews on Trustpilot, the vast majority of the credit card companies are. Keep searching until you find one with a decent rep, or else you'll end up paying for it one way or another.

Blocked my account for $5 Outbound Zelle

If you are a new banking customer, it's important to have a non-Citi account linked to your Citi account. This way, you can access your funds if your account access is blocked. Today, my account access was blocked after I attempted to send out a $5 Zelle payment. Now, I have to wait to receive my debit card and PIN.

Absolutely Horrible Service

Absolutely Horrible Service - Never Banking with Citi Again

I recently opened a checking account with Citi Bank, and it has been the WORST banking experience of my life. After opening the account, they sent me a debit card, which never reached my address. Someone must have stolen the card and used it to make unauthorized transactions using the DEFAULT PIN that Citi conveniently sent along with the card.

When I noticed the fraudulent transactions, I immediately submitted a request to dispute them. Instead of helping, Citi revoked my access to online banking, leaving me completely in the dark. Every time I called their so-called customer service, they kept asking for a reference number that THEY NEVER PROVIDED. It was a vicious cycle of incompetence and zero accountability.

To make matters worse, a week later, I received a letter from Citi saying the “investigation” was completed and they wouldn’t return my money. No explanation, no resolution, nothing. They essentially allowed someone to steal my money, blamed me for their failure, and shut me out of my account.

This level of negligence and poor service is completely unacceptable. Citi Bank has proven they don’t care about their customers or their security. I would not recommend this bank to anyone—stay far away if you value your money and sanity.

This bank is the worst

This bank is the worst, they have no security measures, anyone can call in and claim to be related to the cardholder and have your cards and accounts closed without reason and without verification! No security questions in place, they are suppose to ask for the secret passcode however, they let unauthorized users to call in and cancel your accounts. This has caused nothing but problems! Any malicious person can get your account shut down.

Ordeal with Citibank: Missed Thanksgiving and Financial Stress

I recently had an unfortunate experience with Citibank, particularly at the Orland Park, Illinois branch. On November 27, 2024, I visited this branch to access funds from my account, which had been authorized by Citibank’s fraud department. Despite this authorization, I was denied service, asked to leave the premises, and later learned that the branch did not even document my visit. This left me unable to access my funds when I needed them most.

After filing a formal complaint and contacting Citibank by phone, I was advised by a fraud department manager to visit another branch. At the Oak Brook, Illinois branch, I received excellent assistance and was finally able to access my account. However, the delay caused me to incur significant travel disruptions, including canceled and last-minute flights, and I missed Thanksgiving with my family.

While I am grateful for the professionalism of the staff at the Oak Brook branch, the lack of accountability and poor service at the Orland Park branch caused me unnecessary financial and emotional hardship. I hope Citibank takes steps to improve staff training, ensure consistency across branches, and prioritize transparent communication with customers.

Never open an account with them

@Citibank please do not open an account with CITIBANK, hard earned money has been blocked my sister @charismahere has been waiting 30 days for a cheque only to be told to wait for another 60 days. No information as to why the account was closed. We have already contacted legal & consumer Financial protection Bureau @CFPB . Never open an account with them . Please keep money in wallets going forward if we have banks like this blocking your money. We should avoid using banks entirely. This has been happening quite often with this bank. Reddit will give you all the complaints. They are bullying young clients and profiting by earning an interest with blocked money for their own gain. Legal team is on this. They will need to compensate double for late fees etc

If they were any slower, they'd be zombies.

Geezus Citi! Receiving the payment on 2nd of the month and taking your damn time until the 8th to actually post the payment is asinine. It took Bank of America literally TWO days to process a payment that was mailed at the same time as the payment to you. Do you sit on the payment so you can charge interest on it? I guess your useless CEO has to get the money to pay himself the humongous bonuses from somewhere.

CITI BANK SCAMS CUSTOMERS

CITI BANK SCAMS CUSTOMERS

Newest update on my issue with Citi Bank. 11/02/2024
They even bother to read the whole reviews I placed on different plate forms.
Here a partial answer to my Google review from an agent Rita O:

"Based on the email you provided, you indicated that you "got scammed online". This could be the reason why there is a block on the account and until we can validate that the correct person is asking for the money and not the scammers, the account will remain blocked. This process cannot be overridden. "

If you would read the entire review. You would see the first sentence as:

CITI BANK SCAMS CUSTOMERS

They recommend an email and I wrote back.
Here the answer:

Hello Carmen. I regret to hear about your experience, and we'd be glad to forward your feedback to the branch for review. Please email.......

Now the 3. Answer after they wrote twice to email.:

"Hello Carmen,

We're unable to service accounts via Email since it's not secure. Please call our Citiphone team to be connected with the department who blocked the account. Our Social Media team is unable to override/expedite their internal review in any way. Let us know if help is needed making that call."

Please let me know, if I am wrong or is that something where the right hand don't know what the left hand does. And that the good Lord forgive me that I am getting very impatient.

On 09/10/2024 I stepped into the Citi Branch at Oakland Park, Florida.
The personal Banker Natalia Galligan, NMLS ID: 2433240 took care of my request to open a checking account. I explained I had not so good experience with PNC as I am living now in Thailand and volunteer for missions who taking care of kids and youth who came out of sexslavery and the slums.
I told her also that a US Mobil number not working or is too expensive, that I cant afford with my little social security. I just wanted a checking account what receives my retirement money and pays my automatically bills, like mortgage, maintenance etc.
She said it wouldn’t be a problem if I used the Mobil app for all my banking. Though that we cleared all of it and open the checking account. I put some money on the account and switched all my autopayments and the social security to this account to cover all my bills, I put a little extra on it from my savings.
Happy and with the new checking card, I flew back to Thailand in the knowledge that everything will be alright.
What a nightmare began when I used my card or download the Citi app on my Thai phone. I was blocked immediately. I couldn’t understand. We went through all the steps and now I have the same issues I had before with PNC? I mean if I were a risk customer, I would understand, but you don’t keep an almost 800 credit score if you don’t pay your bills. You don’t get a credit line of $150000 if you don’t manage your money. Even after my retirement I do not delay any payments or don’t pay my bills.
But that will happen soon if Citi not taking steps to return my hard earn money the keeping now since almost 4 weeks, without a reason to tell me why they blocked my account. Three weeks ago, I called the 800 number and they promised me to send an exploration letter and a check with my money they keeping. MY MONEY. I PUT THE MONEY ON THE ACCOUNT. So, it is my money.
I am used to get scammed online from several people and I am blessed that I never taking a bad hit. But as a company like CITI to get scammed is the worst thing what can happen to you. If you can’t trust your bank, what you have for option?
Today I tried again to reason with them. At this moment I don’t care why they closed my account. I know I didn’t do anything wrong, but I need my money to pay my bills.
Something has to happened. I am getting desperate.
Citi, you shouldn’t do that to your customers. We giving your life and you treating us like the numbers you have on your papers. Apparently I am a small number, but every drop fills the bucket.

Sincerely,
Carmen S. Howard

So pathetic it’s appalling

So pathetic it’s appalling. I’ve been a citi bank customer since 2016. In March of this year I made a purchase on Instacart where the the shopper had a free for all on my card Instacart promised to refund me but when no refund was ever issued I opened a dispute with citi. From March till now October they gave me nothing but excuse after excuse to deny my claim. First time they couldn’t find my supportive evidence. Then they couldn’t open my supportive evidence, then they had me mail it 14 dollars to mail to be denied again with no notification. I called everyday and was only told it was still being investigated until today. I don’t know what joke this is but they are not getting my 500+ dollars. Stay clear of citi.

Applied and approved, Then thrown out of system over simple request

Applied and approved. Recieved card registered activated. Told me I needed old pin to make new pin. I said I just got this account new and they never sent a cash advance pin. Had card 8 days now. Called customer service 3 times because I try very hard and don't understand 1 single word they say. Called again today. 10/22 finally got my info. She stopped service on my card. I said you just froze my card for asking for a cah advance pin? She said that card is no good. In 7-10 days you will recieve a letter that you will have to re- apply for. I said I've never been so disrespected or ran-around by any other credit co. Then to tell me basically "Bug off" by someone who BARELY speaks English and had no right to do so. Ignored me when I asked what was going on. Did not explain why. I want a call from someone with the company That Speaks English! To call me. The cheap overseas customer service is doing your company more harm than good. Keith Hay 317 490 9416. I did NOT DESERVE TO BE TREATED THIS WAY WHEN I WAS A CUSTOMER TO YOUR BUSINESS AND WAS ASKING A VERY SIMPLE REQUEST. THEN APPARENTLY SHE DELETED ALL MY INFO, BECAUSE SHE APPARENTLY ASSUMED I WAS RACIST JUST BECASE HER ACCENT AND RATE OF SPEECH MADE IT IMMPOSSIBLE TO UNDERSTAND HER. Every time I call, 4x this week same thing. I can't get any Service and I can't understand. Then to just tell me I've got to re apply Who does she think she is? A customer service representative is all she is. And if she's speaking to me in english that can be understood. This would probably be taken care of. And I wouldn't have the highest amount of disrespect for how I've been treated. That's Keith Hay. 317 490 9416. Don't think I've ever been treated like Rep. Did not care one bit about my request and was going to do whatever she wanted whether anyone else liked it or not. Disgusted being treated that way by a phone answering service. If I knew her name I would suggest retraining or firing her. No inappropriate language. Don't trust these people to give a care in the world. Still waiting corporate to call. Don't bother unless you wanna get your ass chewed.Do not use this card co
