Terrible phone support in Singapore

Terrible phone support in Singapore. I had an emergency and called the hotline, inputted the emergency option. 1st time, the call was disconnected by them. 2nd time, I was put on hold for 25mins and didn't get to an agent at all. I'm exiting Citibank for myself and my family.

terrible

terrible. charged late payment fees for an account that was dormant and closed the whole account. i owned 2 CC and was actively using the other and making monthly payment ON TIME. Couldnt even sign in to the app to make balance payment on the active card and gave short notice to make payment via printed letters? Sent multiple letters over and then overcharged me for payment of $80+, had to call them and ask them to recalculate and refund me the excess. Crap company.

I'm sick of them constantly sending pre approved credit card offers. They send me one once a week with same bs "offer". I will never do business with them because of this. They need to learn to take a hint. When someone doesn't reply to your offer, it means I DON'T want to deal with you!

TitleLost Access After Account Closure; Unexpected Late Fees

I closed all my Citibank credit card accounts in April 2026 and immediately lost access to the app and online banking, so I couldn’t view any remaining balances. The only statement I received arrived by email on 06/12/2026—weeks after closure—yet I was still charged late fees. It shouldn’t be this hard to confirm a final balance or pay it without app access. I’ve requested the late fees be waived and for clear payment instructions. Until Citibank fixes post‑closure access and communication, I can’t recommend them. Two stars for generally okay service before closing, but the offboarding experience was frustrating.

Obstructive

It took almost four years to get funds released from a deceased customer. I had a Singapore Lawyer and got the necessary legal orders fairly quickly. They initially did not even reply to correspondence or give a contact email. We could not believe how unhelpful and obstructive they were.

Everyone should boycott citibank

Everyone should boycott citibank. I made an effort to use their credit card to book flight tickets for complimentary insurance.

The web page said the insurance will be in force in about 3 working days.

After a week, still nothing heard back. I called in multiple times to citibank customer service & they said they will get back to me but end up is always the same answer: “no news from product team etc.”.

Ended up I had to purchase travel insurance from somewhere else last minute just before my flight.

They said their manager will give me a call when I’m back to Singapore. Yes the call came but it was just empty words from their manager.

The last thing is the manager sent me an email saying that the application was rejected because the passport number doesn’t tally with my NRIC in the system etc.

Like seriously!? It is ridiculous that passport number cannot be used for the application considering the webpage clearly stated that we can put passport number. And why did they take so long to find out? Cannot tell me earlier!? Need me to prompt/contact them multiple times!?

Some more at first the citibank app got put complimentary aia insurance then also suddenly don’t have. I could’ve applied for it but I didn’t first cos I didn’t want dual application for travel insurance.

I asked the manager during the call to see if they can offset in my next statement the amount for the insurance that I had to search and pay for last minute (using the same citibank credit card by the way) and the manager replied in the email that my passport number didn’t tally with my NRIC in their system and in this case, they cannot compensate or offset anything for me. Mind you, the language and tone used in the email made it seem like it was entirely my fault lol.

This is how they treat someone who has been using their services for years and my credit card bills are always paid in full and on time.

Not the first time that citibank has disappointed me and I’ve had enough. I’ve also heard bad reviews from people around me.

Terrible service altogether. Avoid at all costs.

This is the worst bank I have ever…

This is the worst bank I have ever dealt with. Their customer service is completely incompetent and they are not set up for success. I would advise anyone to stay away and close their accounts with this bank.

I called today for help with logging into my mobile app because it’s impossible to log in after their app changes. I keep receiving the error message “sorry we are unable to process your request right now. Please try again later.” The most ridiculous thing is you can’t even log in from your laptop! It’s all been set up to be about the app. So if you have an app issue, there’s no plan B with a laptop login. I know the issue is on their side for my app login because my password hasn’t changed and my face verification had no issues before. Interestingly, even though they changed to two factor verification, I still haven’t had any activation of this.

All customer service could do was tell me that I have to fill out a form and mail it in with my new phone number, which is very old school. After validating me over the phone they should be able to make the change in real time. Customer service basically couldn’t help me resolve my login issue at all.

I also asked for the phone number or email for the technical team and I was told they can’t give this to me. It’s unacceptable and this bank is very backwards!

Citibank services is getting bad to…

Citibank services is getting bad to worse.

On one hand, they are trying so hard to get their apps more user-friendly on the other hand, when the apps is not working, there is no available help. Basically customers suck it up!

Two days ago, my Citibank gone weird as in it recognise the face ID (as usual) but instead of going into the account, it gives an error message. So try to use desktop and it goes from logging in to straight logging out, so I called the bank helpline which told me there is nothing wrong and wait for this weekend as there is another maintenance going on so everything should be fine then.

That's it!!!

I was shocked and asked any possibility to get an update via email which was rejected as was told they have no access to email to write to clients only phone.

What kind of attitude or era are we in?

I am in shock!

Initial frustrating big bank, but a long term gem

While Citi can be frustrating and dogmatic especially around their compliance requirements, I find the bank trustworthy, and supportive of my banking needs. (This is probably true for all big banks of SG). Their back office is efficient but can be frustrating with their administration needs (better nowadays but real hair puller years back).
As my funds built, they offer Citi gold perks (as do other banks under various names), but I have to call out my Relationship Manager, who is proactive, responsive and even working 6d/wk. I really understand it is to the banks benefit to sell investments, but I have never felt pressured and no complaints when I decide not to pursue something that does not align with my ideas. They offer me competitive products (not all the time so need to look around). My RM is knowledgeable and pulling in other desks when needed, follows up opportunities, already knows my preferences so already selects and fine tunes options before presenting, and it feels genuine about helping me grow.

Their App is straight forward and enables most transactions, bank offers major Forex accounts (not all currencies), brokerage (not as cheap as online), and complex investment instruments for those with necessary experience. General Investment insights are not as good as some others,

After experience some other big Asian banks, Citi SG is definitely a good choice for a longer term relationships.

Truly disappointing customer service…

Truly disappointing customer service experience. After being loyal card holder for many years, I was surprised to find that our complimentary travel insurance requests had not been granted twice in a row. After spending 30+ minutes in the phone queue, the customer service agent I finally spoke with said she couldn't help me so I shared my name, phone number and times of availability for a follow-up call. After weeks of no follow up from Citi, I rang them back today, only to discover from a new (perfectly friendly, although not terribly helpful) agent that they have no record of the previous conversation, and no record of the declined insurance transaction. I have cancelled my card, and do not recommend Citibank Singapore to others.

Helping the fraudsters!!! Related agents of the bank (especially Rajesh Gopalakrishanan) is not responsive at all!

We had an ongoing dispute with one of the CitiBank customers which we believe is a complete fraudster.

We proved the customer to be a fraudster with all necessary documentation and won the case in PayPal, where the independent agents are evaluating the case.

Unfortunately, this dispute has been created from Stripe, where the related agents from the customer's (the person who issued a dispute) bank were making the judgment.

The related agent, Rajesh Gopalakrishanan, declined our defense and concluded that they would refund all amount to their customer despite us completing the service (all documents shared).

The agent did not give us any valid reason while declining our defense.

We emailed Mr Rajesh Gopalakrishanan twice in the last 8 days, but there has been no response at all!

We also contacted customer service demanding to be contacted by higher authority since the related agent is not responding!

There is still no adequate response.

We believe the case has to be analyzed since their customer is a fraudster which is clear since the independent institution (PayPal) concluded the case in our favor.

We understand that the bank is inclined to be on their customer's side but in this particular case, the customer is involved with serious fraud.

Cases like this one only favor people who are doing fraud and approaching these kinds of cases with such irresponsibility means that CitiBank does not value ethics and takes the sides of dishonest customers over hard-working citizens (or businesses).

We demand immediate justice, reevaluation of the case, and at least a strong warning to Mr Rajesh Gopalakrishanan, the agent who has not responded to our emails for eight days!!!

P.S: There is no email from Mr Rajesh Gopalakrishanan, at all. So it is not one of those cases that we got the reply several times and they do not reply us anymore.
