Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Considering 2,915 reviews, reviewers overwhelmingly had a great experience with this company. Customers really love how interactive and gamified the daily lessons are, making it simple and fun to pick up programming from absolute scratch. People also find the well-structured path, clean interface, and instant feedback incredibly helpful for staying motivated and making fast progress every single day. However, some people mentioned that the energy system on the free tier runs out way too quickly and significantly limits daily learning sessions. Reviewers noted that waiting several hours to refill tokens can seriously disrupt study momentum and slow down their overall educational journey.

I like the fact that I can code within…

I like the fact that I can code within the website and get help from AI if needed. What I don't like is how I wait for almost a day just so I can code for 20 minutes since as a student in university in Kenya I can't afford to pay for any of your options but learning has been great so far

Could be great if they were a little more honest.

I have recently started using Coddy to learn JavaScript as I enjoy making websites and know some HTML and CSS already. The graphic design of this website, while definitely very inspired by DuoLingo, is great! The exercises are coherent and make sense. I've read some reviews stating that the exercises don't cover how to solve the actual questions and challenges posed but I have yet to run into this problem.

The biggest issue I have with Coddy is the energy system. Now don't get me wrong, I know they need to find a way to make money to keep offering their services but I find the 4/5 hour wait time for 1 energy very excessive. If it had been a full recharge then I would have gotten it but 1 energy simply doesn't cut it.

My second issue is the fact that they immediately cancel your plan if you cancel early. I find this an incredibly shady way of dealing and the fact that other websites are normalising this behavior is gross.

If they want their brand to stick they need to be more honest about their practices or they'll risk losing buyers their interest.

Oh no, they use ai generated imagery that's another point docked.

Thanks for the feedback! Means a lot!

One of our goals is to make code education free, and this is why we never paywall any of our content but as you stated we must make revenue in some way... we tested lots of things and the energy system was the best, we do plan to increase the free plan as we grow and expand and offer more features to premium.

About the cancellation process, if you cancel through the website you have both of the options - cancel the auto renewal or cancel immediately. If you want us to reactivate you subscription for accidental cancel immediatly we will gladly do it! (it is in our policy!)

I would add that mobile is very new to us, so if you subscribed through google or apple, it might have some bugs when cancelling and we are sorry for any inconvience

Anyways write us to info@coddy.tech and we will reactivate you premium and help ASAP

How to *actually* learn JS before the robots do take over

yeah it's basically duolingo for coding, but like ... better. So much better. I'm not even mad about the AI use honestly, since this is kind of what I actually need AI for instead of Art. I'm all for teaching the robots how to make art, but that involves paint brushes, not just teaching them to mash pre-created pieces together into messed up zombies.

I can't afford to go Pro right now, but for 300~ currency to get access to this FOR LIFE? That's a pretty solid deal.

The pacing is perfect and they don't spoon feed you the answers, and the metaphors actually make sense. There are great real world examples that help you relate to and understand each new skill.

THANK YOU!!!

The challenges really get you thinking even as a beginner and the additional availability of an AI assistant that offers guidance when I get stuck with my code or logic is really invigorating.
I equally appreciate the access to my "submissions" which helps me understand the gap in my knowledge and sight patterns pertaining to the error(s) in my logic.

I really liked the different scenarios

I really liked the different scenarios: The pet store, The weather app, and there were a few more.
A good fact is that I have Hints if I'm not sure and if I don't understand something, I can also use Ask AI in the same window and see the solution.
I can reset and redo the same exercise as a recap.
The graphic interface for the study level looks like a mini-game.
I love it, thanks team coddy.

The "Flow State" for Coding Beginners: An Honest Review of coddy.tech

As someone just diving into the world of Python, I've found an incredibly motivating and engaging platform in coddy.tech. For an impatient learner like me, the "Plus" subscription for around €15 was an absolute no-brainer to bypass the artificial waiting times ("energy") and stay in the learning flow.

Here are my impressions after the first few lessons.

What's Great (The Pros):
The "Game-like-Experience": This is the absolute highlight. Coddy.tech makes learning addictive. You constantly want to reach the next level, solve the next problem, and you get immediate feedback.

The "Flow State": The platform is brilliant at getting you into a "flow." The best feeling isn't just completing a lesson, but the reward of realizing at the end, "I can actually do this now."

Good Explanations: The concepts are taught clearly and understandably. I intentionally set the language to English to improve my language skills at the same time, which works great (cause I'm a native German speeker). The in-browser implementation is remarkably well done overall.

What Could Be Better (The Cons):

The "Paywall Within the Paywall": A real downer is that even with the "Plus" subscription, you don't get everything. Important AI features, like explaining solution code ("Explain Solution"), are hidden behind the even more expensive "Pro" subscription. This breaks the learning flow, as I often have to copy the code and ask external AIs (like Gemini or ChatGPT) for an explanation.

The "Browser Sandbox": The biggest drawback for me (so far) is a conceptual one. Coddy.tech brilliantly shows me what code is, but not how to apply it. I'm learning the fundamentals in a perfect, isolated environment, but I have no idea how to actually run this Python code on my own machine or integrate it into a real project. This is a fundamental problem that I hope will be addressed in later courses. (maybe Coddy.tech shows it in courses i haven't done yet)

Conclusion:

Despite these criticisms, my verdict is overwhelmingly positive. The €15 is an excellent investment in my own motivation and eliminates the biggest hurdle in learning: just getting started.

I will definitely continue and am already planning to expand my knowledge to other languages like HTML, C#, C++, and JavaScript, which are also offered on the platform.

I have a great programming experience from zero to mastery

I have a great programming experience for this Coddy tech app. This app is an excellent start for beginners, helping them master concepts and practice coding problems with large AI hints that provide direction and help identify compilation and output errors. I give a huge shoutout to this app, which enables me to excel as a software programmer and encourages me to practice coding with extra supplemental materials that help me prepare for college courses and a career as a software engineer—an absolute five-star rating.

Really good to start your journey, but still points to improve

Overall it is really good and simply structured, making it easy to follow bite-sized lessons.
Improvements are to be made, and I believe daily tasks although being fun and keeping you coming daily to check your knowledge, should be more tailored along the lines of your progression.
Simply including lessons you've passed in future challenges.
This at first could have been chose manually (difficulty), but AI tailored one was simply way too far ahead of anything I've done.
Very soon that has been updated, and now you cannot choose the difficulty on manually, but it's rather just creating a challenge for you.
This resulted in me having fairly simply challenges past 7 days or so, and even though I've moved onto more complicated things that I would like to practice and make sure I know how to use in more complex tasks, I'm still kind of getting fairly simple daily challenges.

Due to this, I have contancted support and advised they should create another subsection, dedicated only to practicing, where users could just do the challenges which contain knowledge from lessons user has passed.
This way I could ensure to sit once a week, and re-check and practice my knowledge before carrying onto a new chapter for example.

Also, I found it worth getting at least anual subscription (which I currently have, and if they improve things I'd like to see, I will be purchasing lifetime package 100%), as free version runs out of energy fairly easily.
What then happened to me is that I forgot to come and check when my energy should be back up, resulting in my learning being inconsistent.
That is why I purchased anual subscription, and as now I have unlimited energy, I'm finding myself doing lessons or daily challenges everywhere; on phone whilst waiting to get my kids from school, or mrs to come out her work or at home between my normal studies or in free time, sometimes even when I'm putting my kids to bed :D
