Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Considering 24 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many people were dissatisfied with the product, specifically with the new formulas of Colgate toothpastes, citing issues like increased teeth sensitivity, horrible taste, and a bitter aftertaste. Customers also frequently reported problems with the quality of the toothpaste, experiencing burning sensations, irritation around their mouths, swollen lips, and even peeling skin inside their mouths. The price of the products was also a point of contention for many, with some feeling that the expensive toothpastes did not deliver on their promises. Though some people were satisfied with a Colgate soft toothbrush, finding it effective and gentle on gums, the majority of complaints centered on the negative changes to the toothpaste formulas and packaging, including difficult-to-use tubes and caps.

New tube of COLGATE TOTAL is total…

New tube of COLGATE TOTAL is total disaster considering ease of usage - reasons :

1) allows air to fill in the tube causing need for too much push to get the paste

2) tube being made too much flexible , shutting the flip top lid is a task - specially for elderlies - so left open mostly allowing possibility of contamination

3) previous pack with Screw on caps were best & better if colgate decides to move back to that kind tubes

4) quality of paste is alright

You make so much money and yet you’re trying to save a few bucks by using Ai instead of paid actors.
Well I will be boycotting your products from now on, shame we’ve always used your toothpaste…

Switching brands due to sores

Have used Colgate total for as long as I can remember but have now had a reaction to it with burning sensation and sores on lips. Will no longer be using . It appears I am not alone and can only assume a change to ingredients.

Colgate Whitening Toothpastes don' t seem to do a thing! Expensive though!

Recently I noticed that my teeth were a bit dark, even if I don't drink black tea or coffee or red wine, but it might be because I had been using Corsodyl Mouthwash. I saw the Colgate Max White Ultimate toothpaste in Tesco and despite being so very expensive I decided to try it, cheaper than a visit to the hygienist! Used it a few times, surprised not to see the Instant Effect at all! And it was then that I looked at the toothpaste I had been using, Total Advanced Whitening, and was even more disappointed!!! Because, despite using it for quite a while, my teeth were not white at all, on the contrary!!! Is this all misleading advertisement? Toothpastes become ever more expensive but to be honest, I have never noticed any difference, compared to normal, cheap ones!

I had used Colgate Total Original for 25 years and had no problems. I have tried the new ‘Active Protection’ several times and it is burning my mouth. After use my mouth feels swollen. My teeth hurt after using it. I can’t buy Colgate Total Original as it is now unavailable in shops.

New formulation results in burning of…

New formulation results in burning of mouth, tingling, soreness and irritation in throat. Wrote to Colgate and all I got was a list of questions they wanted to know. The problem is simple as is the solution. Go back to the old formulations. Shall not be using it anymore.

Terrible New Formula

Terrible New Formula

My wife and I have been using Colgate toothpaste for over 40 years but because of the change in the formula we will now be switching to another brand.
Since using Colgate toothpaste with the new formula we both have had irritation around our mouths and swollen lips. The taste is also terrible and no longer leaves a freshness in the mouth.
Completely bad move by Colgate.

Another customer with bad feedback with their new 'improved' formula. And it's gone up massively in price! Horrible taste, doesn't clean as well and makes all the skin peel off from inside my mouth. Nasty. Will be avoiding all colgate toothpastes now. I hope they listen otherwise they're going to lose a lot of customers.

Yuck, yuck, yucky

I bought for the first time a tube of Colgate Max White Ultimate. First of all it has a horrible blue colour that stains everything it touches including my toothbrush, towel and my teeth. It also tastes nasty - what flavour is it? After paying a lot of money for it I guess that I will have to throw it away. It’s back to Oral B for me. As an aside don’t put black text on a dark red background on the back of the tube - try Max White instead!

Don't buy the new formula

How did this new formula get through testing and get signed off.
As many others have said it is awful and leaves my mouth feeling like it is swollen.
On top of that the price has gone up so after 20 years Colgate i am moving to another brand.
Please bring this to the attention of the Senior Leadership Team as heads should roll for this disaster.

New formula burns

The new formula across the range is terrible. Burns my mouth, tastes horrible. Why did you mess with the original....desperately trying to find another brand to use now when I have used Colegate forever. Very disappointed.

Can't really review the paste-I can't…

Can't really review the paste-I can't access it. The cap will not close and the paste congeals in the opening. Prizing the hardened mix out with a toothpick is not a lot of fun and even after this you need body-building exercises to get enough force to squirt out the required dose. After using a minimal amount I confined the annoying squirt to the bin. You would imagine Colgate have been around long enough to get this fundamental aspect right.
