Perpetual cycle of identification & verification which only temporarily satisfies these bureaucrats. Extremely cumbersome & endless passwords on their webpages. The management & their IT department have clearly way too much time on their hands. They adore red tape.

Total technical failure - left undiscovered for 6 months!

Has anyone else had an email from these people today saying, "Unfortunately, due to an intermittent technical issue, your confirmation statement filing did not contain all the required information" and asking you to re-do your confirmations statement - 6 MONTHS after it was submitted? This is huge incompetence and a pain in the proverbial to put right! Remind me again WHY we pay our taxes?

LIES AND MISSING POST

I have sent in documents TWICE AND RECORDED AS RECEIVED to change the registered office.
Emma in registrars functions told me to email her and update within two days. LIES as never happened.
MELANIE in complaints eventually found the email and after a long delay tells me cannot accept email and send in the post ? That was after I had emailed her EVERY DAY for about 2 weeks!! What trust can we place in these government departments when post is repeatedly lost, enails ignored abd lies being told.
They are very lucky to have a job which we pay for ?

Apparent extortion

How come confirmation statements have gone from £13 to £50 in the space of about 5 years. It appears this outfit has become money extortionists. If i am wrong, please explain why. I have now finally decided to give up the pain and let this go. So my company will fold all thanks to this country's officialdom getting the better of it and allowing a bunch of public sector haters destroy commerce. On yer bikes the lot of you.

Truly awful.

Truly awful.

A third world style, corrupt, bureaucracy-laden, money-making scheme, designed to force you into non-compliance for profit.

Should be forced into closure.

RIP OFF BRITAIN (NOT GREAT)

RIP OFF BRITAIN (NOT GREAT)
Just had to file a ‘Confirmation Statement.’ Usually every year, it was thirteen pounds, fifteen at the most, today it is FIFTY POUNDS!

Why on earth are we business people and everyday people paying such extortionate price increases, for EVERYTHING, in order to support the failings of any Government?

I realise this is nothing to do with the staff employed at Company’s House, but WHAT A RIP OFF.

A dystopian nightmare

Should score minus stars. ID verification process. What an absolute nightmare. Spent at least 35 mins online Sunday. Just got frustrated and upset. Rang today. Woman I spoke to was really lovely and despite 45 minutes being walked through I still could get sorted. Driving licence photo section was the barrier. Started getting tearful through frustration and that my pension can't support a fine for not sorting this out. Finally asked them to send me a letter to take to the post office. Not ideal as I have mobility problems and the heat seriously affects my breathing. I don't know which eejits designed this form but it is far from intuitive and certainly not user friendly. Shout out to the poor woman who tried to help me this morning.

Had yet another, Inaccurate and misleading e-mail from this bunch of Civil servants who clearly aren't interested in assisting people. But are more interested in having a nice big fat pay packet, Company pension, Sick pay, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera. This was about identification verification, I'm told, on this website that I'm not verified, Go on to the Gov .1 website and it says you are verified, Companies House staff, tell you well, that's understandable our systems aren't linked?
Phoned to get a resolution to this get somebody who's not interested in helping? Ask to speak to complaints. Phone gets hung up so that you can't leave this man feedback, Interesting.! Phone back. Get somebody else asked to speak to complaints. Puts me through to another person, not complaints. Put me through to another person, not complaints. Phone back. Get through to another. Person again won't put you through to complaints, won't deal with the problem and is very upset that we're not telling them how wonderful they are. Phone back and get somebody called Louise. I won't identify this any further. This woman was deliberately rude. Obstructive, unhelpful and when I was asking her questions about their website and their system was told.” You have all the answers. Why don't you tell me?!” So clearly this is how they deal with things. Not helpful, not interested. Don't give a damn, but if you don't do what you're told by them on systems that aren't integrated and don't work and aren't accurate, then you'll get fined.
Typical civil servants. Who aren't interested in doing a job, but interested in hanging on to a job, irregardless of how incompetent. And inefficient they are.

Money robbing government!

Really poor system. It doesn’t provide timely updates when action is required, which can result in unnecessary fines.

The verification process can be very difficult, particularly for elderly people or those who are less confident using online services. It is also challenging when a company has multiple directors, as everyone has to complete the same process before the deadline. Coordinating this within a limited timeframe can be unnecessarily difficult.

Speaking to an adviser over the phone was extremely disappointing. They were only able to offer general advice and couldn’t actually resolve the issue, process the complaint, or provide meaningful assistance. For an organisation like Companies House, I would expect staff to have more authority or clearer ways to help people through these situations.

The website itself is also confusing. For a government service, the process isn’t always straightforward or user-friendly. Overall, the experience was frustrating and far more complicated than it needed to be.

We could only verify the account with a biometric passport, which is currently unavailable.

We established a company two years ago, but you refuse to hire anyone from outside the UK.

Therefore, I'm going to close this failing company and establish a US limited liability company.

They are much more open to business than you.

Hopelessly designed Gov.uk System needs scrapping

The new gov.uk login is overly complex and stupidly overlaps the old Gateway system. Recently we had to complete our limited company Annual Statement. A glitch was that the director's date of birth in the initial filing of 2005 had the wrong day and would not allow the Confirmation Statement to be completed as it did not match the new ID version. As the day does not show in any company filings or for anyone updating the details online this meant we had to complete a 288c paper form. This was rejected as a possible fraudulent document as we are registered for the on-line PROOF system and paper copies are deemed unsafe. However, the online system does NOT allow director DOB changes so we had to use a special PAPER version of the 288c - how complex is that. The new form was filed but we were not informed of the update and had to have the penalty date deferred twice. Even though it was updated the old DOB details were still present in the Confirmation Statement after 4 months. Finally a helpful advisor found out that we would have to delete the pending submission and start a new one and it worked.
So much time wasted on our side and for the helpful staff at CH. The fault lies with the idiots who have mis-designed this awful system. Did the designers think of talking to business users of all sizes. It is one of the worst systems we have encountered in 50 years of using computers and government procedures.

My experience with Companies House has…

My experience with Companies House has been one of the most frustrating administrative processes I have encountered in over 20 years of running a limited company.
What began as the correction of a single historical date-of-birth discrepancy turned into months of correspondence, multiple rounds of replacement filings, conflicting guidance, repeated paper submissions and significant time away from running my business.
Throughout the process I have actively engaged with Companies House, completed identity verification, followed every instruction given, amended documents when requested and resubmitted paperwork by tracked post. Despite this, I still received correspondence warning of strike-off action, financial penalties and prosecution while I was actively trying to comply with their own correction process.
To their credit, Companies House later confirmed that the proposed strike-off had been stopped after I contacted them, but the fact that it progressed that far while my correction case was ongoing illustrates how difficult the system can be for businesses trying to do the right thing.
My concern extends beyond my own case. The current process for correcting historic records appears unnecessarily complex, heavily reliant on paper forms and inconsistent guidance. Small businesses simply do not have the time or resources to spend months reconstructing historical filings in order to correct what is ultimately a single piece of information.
I hope my experience encourages Companies House and the Government to review and modernise the correction process, improve consistency between departments, and ensure that businesses actively working to resolve historic issues are not placed at risk of enforcement action while doing so.
I fully support the need for an accurate public register. My criticism is not of that objective, but of a correction process which, in my experience, places an excessive administrative burden on compliant businesses.

Companies House makes the UK a Gangster's Paradise

I feel like Companies House is basically an agency that encourages criminals to fraudulently register businesses in the UK. (We've personally had 5 instances of this happen to us, where a criminal is continually registering business to our address, completely without our knowledge or consent). We have complained multiple times and Companies House do nothing to deter the criminals, or even blacklist certain names. Companies House basically support the move towards the UK being a Gangsters Paradise. Enabling fraud, is essentially encouraging it. I can't understand why Companies House isn't more regulated--like other businesses. Any other business established to enable easy fraud would be investigated. Shame on Companies House and shame on the UK for making crime so easy.

Companies House ENABLES FRAUD

This is now the THIRD time we have reported fraudulent companies being registered using our personal details by an individual we do not know: Oleg Ozoling.
Despite multiple reports, Companies House systems continue allowing these registrations to happen with apparently little to no effective verification process in place.
How, in 2026, are there still no robust safeguards to prevent repeated fraudulent activity by the same individual? With modern AI, identity verification and fraud-detection technology readily available, it is staggering that this can continue unchecked.
A simple search of this individual’s name reveals multiple suspicious company registrations across the UK and beyond. The pattern is obvious. The lack of intervention is unacceptable.
Companies House must urgently strengthen address and identity verification procedures, investigate these registrations properly, dissolve fraudulent entities, and prevent repeat abuse of the system.
At what point does failure to act become enabling fraud?
