Do not buy Daiken

Well, I actually am very unhappy with mine. Initial install 2022. Furnace portion did not work out of the box. The outside heat pump replaced in 2023. Furnace threw errors from the beginning. One of them was a serious error that could have caused a fire. The top of the furnace was so hot you could not put your hand on it. It will not maintain temperature in a relatively small home, ranch, 1362 sq ft. The distributor/installer came in and cut a 14"x14" hole in my cold air exchange duct and said problem fixed. NOT I have my thermostat set at 75. It struggles to keep this temp. It goes up to as high as 78 and stays there for hours. After sun sets and temp drops to 82 and lower it still is at 77. Overnight it gets back to 75. They are telling me it is because it is in the 90's is why won't maintain. I call BS. I had a 30 year old heat pump system that they convinced me to get rid of. In the 28 years I lived with it, I can count on one hand the service calls. On this unit it takes three hands to count the service calls and it still does not work. Daiken will not do anything. They said go back to distributor. Did that and they do not seem to be able to fix it. Yes, they have a great warranty but warranty isn't much if they can't get it to work correctly. And I have to leave all doors and vents wide open per the distributer/installer. So my office is in the basement and I have to freeze down there. Sorry so convoluted but I am just so frustrated. to have spent more than $14K for a system that doesn't do what it is supposed to do. What am I supposed to tell a buyer when I go to sell the house. Just live with it?????

Save your money don’t buy a Daikin!!!

The only reason I’m giving this one star is because you can’t go lower! I had my A/C unit installed in 2020. It worked great for the first five years starting last summer. I had trouble with it. Even though my unit was under warranty repairs cost me close to $4000 because you have to pay shipping and labor on warranty parts. BTW, not all AC companies do that ! Their customer service is terrible. They will not connect you to a manager. A manager has to call you back. I requested a call back from management .I was told a manager would call me back,I never received the call back after having a service person come to my house eight or nine times. They finally agreed to replace my unit, but said it was up to my installer to find one and if they couldn’t find a comparable unit, then Daikin would provide me with a brand new 2025 model, but I would have to buy the new air blower in my attic that wouldn’t be covered which be several thousand more dollars.
I went through the hottest part of the summer with no AC was thinking about buying a window unit until they fixed mine because my house was unbearable
PLEASE!! Save your money time and aggravation. Do not buy a Daikin!!!
Total garbage, horrible company!!!

Diakin uses We care plumbing and…

Diakin uses We care plumbing and heating. My sister is a retire, disabled, US Navy Veteran. Your product sold, installed and serviced by We Care Plumbing and Heating has left this person in 100+;degree temperatures for 3 weeks. 3 times they have replaced a fuse with 3 different technicians. I will be posting a negative review about the constant failures of your products and the negligent support of your resellers. This is only 1 review site
Expect more outrage from disabled veterans associations and social media influencers. There should be a fine for this negligence. I will be asking all institutions to review this post and other posts from the same Veteran in Menifee California.

Residential 4 ton standard Daikin AC unit

4 ton standard Daikin AC unit installed 7 years ago in late 2019. In 2024 system constantly running and condenser unit required replacement under warranty due to multiple refrigerant leaks one in coil and one at compressor. 2025 unit required service due to refrigerant leak, tech couldn't find the leak and charged system along with dye for leak detection. 2026 system again running all the time and tech found refrigerant leak in air handler coil. Still awaiting replacement under warranty after a week. Meanwhile receiving excessive electric bills and paying for service calls for all of these incidents due to Daikin's poor quality product. AC unit installed by Brevard Cooling and Heating Inc

Daikin is junk and Cornorstone is unprofessional.

I had the Cornorstone completely replaced the entire AC unit (HVAC) with Daikin about 4 years ago. Last year the blower motor went bad and replacement cost was about $500 just for labor. Again this year blower motor got replaced for another $500. On the same day they replaced the evaporator for $2500 labor due to a leak. When I called the Cornerstone for repairs they said they would not service after first year, and needed to employ another contractor.
Bottom line is Daikin makes very inferior parts and their units are lowest of lowest quality in the universe.

Never ever buy Daikin.

Never hire Cornerstone for new AC installations as they would not service after first year even if you are willing to pay labor charges.

This is the worst air-conditioning unit…

This is the worst air-conditioning unit I have ever experienced in my 50 years of life. Most unreliable, energy, inefficient, most complicated to program. You will never be able to get the temperature that you want in your house. Very expensive to Service and even the Service people have no idea how to calibrate the desire temperature set on the thermostat. Complete waste of time money. Just pure source of frustration.

It will just randomly break and leak water all over the place. They'll come and "fix" it but then it's just going to happen again in a few more months and they'll come and "fix" it and then it'll happen again in a few more months. Unless you want mold, soaking wet carpet or your things ruined, buy something else. This product is garbage and they know it and lie out of there ass to keep them in homes. Kick-the-can incrementalist predatory bullshit.

I installed brand new Daikin in 2022

I installed brand new Daikin in 2022. The compressor exploded about two weeks after installation. Completely covered. Thank you Daikin. Four years later the inside coil has a leak. Total replacement. Daikin only covers the part. $1800 in parts and labor to repair the coil. Don’t waste your money on Daikin. Customer Service is unhelpful. Equipment failure after four years. I have maintenance on my system twice a year and filter changed monthly. Take care of equipment. My refrigerator lasts longer than 4 years.

HVAC technician

As a HVAC technician, this has to be the worse equipment I've ever worked on. Constant board failures. Components fail often. Fault codes in the manual not what the boards display. Try and get a hold of their tech support, you'll be on hold for over an hour, they'll take your information and you'll be lucky if they get back to you the same day. They'll also get mad if you're not on site when they call back 16 hours later. When you work in an industry where people are "trained" to simply guess, working with Daikin makes you rethink life.

Goodman and Amana made by Daikin are trash - buy at your peril

This company makes Goodman brand central AC systems that are poorly made, poorly supported, and don't last, even several local authorized contractors whom I have spoken too also agree that corporate as a whole is making them look bad because of their policies on shipping parts, providing warranty work and technical support is horrible. Corporate as a whole is just interested is sales and could care less about their end client and his/her satisfaction. I had a complete air handler replaced in April 2024, the evaporator coil failed(leaked) in Nov 2024, and I was charged for the service and refrigerant. Now Jun 2026 the evaporator coil is leaking again, and my local contractor says that they can't get parts from the manufacturer because they only ship out parts on Tues days and Thursdays (what kind of business does this?) This company has gone down the toilet and is bringing their installers (local service companies) down with them. I talked to 3 different local AC companies (all of whom install and repair different brands including Goodman) and when they, themselves are telling their costumers NOT to go with Goodman, that speaks volumes!!!! One of them even said he will no longer continue as a certified installer for Goodman. I even called the corporate office in Waller Texas, and their "representative" was pretty useless. She gave me excuse after excuse and tried to disavow from any responsibility ultimately sending me back to my local installer which has already explained that corporate policies are the real reason why they can't get parts in a timely fashion. After this experience with them, I too will steer clear from their terrible products and corporate and you should too. You have been warned.

Industry leading 12 years parts and labor warranty

This is an update from the original post on 6/12/26 when I gave Daikin Corporation (the company that manufactured our central air conditioner) from a 1 star review to a 5 star review (today). I justify the upgrade in stars based on my overall experience with Daikin Corporation.

We purchased a Daikin central air conditioner (with air handler) from Dormann's HVAC. Dormann's is a family owned business in Southern New Jersey. The first unit was installed on 6/2/26. There were multiple service calls from the date of installation, until 6/15/26 when our salesperson at Dormann's, Craig Shugarts, called to inform us that Daikin was going to replace our unit with another, upgraded Daikin model.

First, I give all the credit for the professional manner in which our issues were handled by the salesperson at Dormann's, Craig Shugarts. He did an exceptional job listening to our concerns and making certain they were addressed. Secondly, I appreciate Daikin Corporation for standing by their industry leading warranty, 12 years parts and labor. Finally, many thanks to Dormann's technicians for all of the hard work they did with the installation process.

Dormann's HVAC is a very reputable company in my community. They service our 25 year old boiler keeping it running smoothly, They stand behind the products they sell 100% and their motto is to make certain all of their customers are completely satisfied. We also appreciate the speed at which our matter was handled by Daikin Corporation and especially the upgraded unit they provided in our case at no additional cost.

Based on my experience, I highly recommend Daikin Corporation for their central air conditioning units. Daikin stands behind their warranty.

I had a Daikan minisplit installed a year ago. After limited use it had a refrigerant leak that is now being quoted to fix at $3500 with $2000 of it being service and refrigerant. Daikan will pay for a replacement part but the $2000 service bill is on me. Very frustrating that this is not covered and they have given no support.

Daikin, what a letdown!

Extremely disappointed with this brand and also the dealer!
Bought two heads/one thermopump for my appartement five years ago and right from the start they made a wrongfully installation that they fixed afterwards. One year later, no A/C, pipes were not tightened enough and all the coolant got lost, of course I had to pay a CAD 500 bill.
Last winter no heat, we were at -20 celsius degrees. I had to turn on my electric baseboard heaters, logically electrical bill skyrocketed.
This time, I called a different guy, and he told me there could be a small leak somewhere. Another CAD 600.00 bill. Now, I wonder why the hell I spent 15% to 20% more on this brand (Made in China) when it's not worth it.
Today, three weeks after last repair, guess what? No A/C again, now I know leak comes from the Made in China condenser.
Even though parts are still under warranty, labor is not. It is going to cost me an arm and a leg. And if you belive story is over, not at all, few days after condenser replacement, motherboard died. A week later, motherboard was replaced, and guess what? Another thing (I don't know what, I am fed up) died too. So, so far another two weeks without A/C. I had to buy two fans to fight the almost 39 Celsius temperature, in summertime.
NEVER EVER AGAIN WITH DAIKIN!

Terrible warranty and customer service

Terrible warranty and customer service. The replacement part they substituted because they no longer made the original part ended up sparking and catching on fire (this is for a only 2 year old unit still under warranty). Can't believe I spent tens of thousands buying multiple units from these folks. I honestly blame my general contractor for not selecting mitsubishi

Bought a 3 TON Split with an 18k and…

Bought a 3 TON Split with an 18k and 12k indoor units in 2020. It ran fine for years. In July 2025 it died but still had more than 6 years of warranty. On July 28, 2025 the diagnostics started (First controller board identified). Yes the system is registered and there is a case open on it as well with Daikin.

The system has NOT RUN A SINGLE DAY BETWEEN THEN AND TODAY...THAT IS 9 plus months later. There have been multiple cascading failures, long lead times for parts for the R410A system and extremely poor customer service even after reaching out to the customer support supervisor at Daikin numerous times. In fact, the most recent is that the customer support supervisor asked for paperwork to be filled out to bring a rep out at the same time as the AC service company to see what was going on and possible replacement. That paperwork was delivered on 4/8/2026 and has not been scheduled yet. The customer support supervisor has been reached out to by the AC service company multiple times as well as myself. I sent an email to him and executives in Daikin as well with no response yet. This is 22 days later after the customer support supervisor requested it.

There have been multiple controller board replacements, coil and compressor replacements, fan replacement, valve replacement and an inside 18k coil replacement. Now we are waiting for another controller. Every part had long lead times...many times it said it was to be delivered in a couple of weeks only to check to see that it was back ordered or there was a computer glitch in which it had to be ordered again and would extend most of the time past 30 days each time.

With this level of warranty service and customer support, it is apparent that customers mean little to nothing and warranties are something just to string a customer along. Consider this when you look for an AC manufacturer. Hopefully this impacts your decision to buy Daikin and not do business with a company that does not actually care for their customers when multiple cascading parts fail in year 5 of a 12 year warranty.

Super efficient

During the year I have had my Daikin heat pump system I have had no problems and my heating costs have gone down dramatically. Every quarter I used to get notice from my power company saying I was using more electricity (20-30%) than anybody with my size home. Last month (February 2026) I received a notice that my home was using less electrify than the average home of my size. The unit is virtually silent and quickly brings house to what ever temperature I set the thermostat at.
