COMPLETE SCAM!

COMPLETE SCAM!! DO NOT SUBSCRIBE!

The platform is a hoax. A complete scam. I paid $500 sgd for a 3 year subscription.

What they don’t tell you when you sing up is that each course require insanely high fees if you also want the graded assessments and certificates.

But that’s not all. With you yearly subscription, you can audit the course - which means do it for free as part of your subscription but you don’t get a certificate or graded assessments. But here is the catch - they give you a very short time to audit the course and then your access and course material expires. So if you dont complete by the deadline, all your effort is wasted and you don’t even get learning reference material!

What a complete scam. Regret paying so much for the subscription. Totally worthless.

Not Recommended for Audits

I'm retired - no longer part of the workforce - but I still enjoy learning, so I recently signed up to *audit* an edX course on RISC-V CPU architecture. It didn't matter that I had clearly selected "audit", at first I got screen pop-ups, upgrade time-out warnings, and price discount deals ... and now I'm getting unwanted emails: "Build new skills and unlock more career opportunities" - even after disabling all notifications in my account. The course material might be very good, but the website experience is beyond awful if you don't wish to buy credentials.

I am unable to access the courses

I have paid for a program yesterday, I am unable to access the courses in my edX account. I see the following message for the courses:
"There are no sessions available at the moment. The course team will create new sessions soon. If no sessions appear, please contact support team for information."
In addition, the course is marked as "archived" on the Harvard website.
I send an email to support team but no answer 😕

HarvardX Professional Leadership: Team success

HarvardX didn’t just provide certificates — it fundamentally changed the way I approach my professional development. The coursework pushed me to raise my standards, think more intentionally, and treat leadership as a discipline that requires continuous learning. It strengthened my commitment to preparation, structure, and accountability, and it reshaped how seriously I take the responsibilities of leading people. The experience elevated my expectations of myself and reinforced the importance of investing in high‑quality leadership education.

Robot Development FedericaX 48 is old, 404s, bad lectures

Robot Development FedericaX 48 is over a decade old. Links fail: 404. Latest references are to 2015. It's 2026! Lectures have no diagrams. Slides mentioned aren't provided. Auto-generated transcripts and I struggled with lecturers' speech. Patently nobody's checked material before publication. I'd like to quit and get my $55 back -- or see an updated version.

Effort without results, cannot recommend

I already hold a postgraduate degree and enrolled in an edX MicroMasters in Data Science to deepen my skills. I ran into several issues. The courses move quickly, provide minimal reading material, and introduce advanced mathematical and programming concepts with very little support—often just a 2–5 minute video and a single page of notes. In practice, you end up teaching yourself. For most exercises and assessments, I had to spend significant time finding external resources that actually explained the material. This isn’t necessarily a deal breaker, but it does make the learning curve steep.
The deal breakers were different. Assessment is mostly multiple choice, the discussion forums are inactive, and some quiz answers are hard‑coded and no longer match updated public datasets—making correct answers impossible. I only received marks after asking why I kept failing. Eventually, the course expected a level of knowledge that hadn’t been taught, amounting to undeclared prerequisites.
I tried another edX course, but lost a full day just trying to install outdated software and unsupported Java versions required for the assignments. While workarounds exist, the platform’s reliance on obsolete tools makes it difficult to complete tasks as instructed.

Out of date content

"AI for Leaders" a paid for course provided by Babson. Unfortunately given how old this material was any leaders who took this course when originally released are probably retired by now.

Shocking that EDx would charge for material that is simply no longer fit for purpose.

Also shocking that Babson have not updated and allow this to remain for sale on the site.

Serious problems with edX's Introduction to Artificial Intelligence with Python course

I audited the edX class titled "Introduction to Artificial Intelligence with Python."
The lecturer and the material offered by the course were very good. The course was originally offered by Harvard in 2020. Unfortunately, the course material has not been properly maintained since that time.
I had no problem following the course and its material for the first 2 sessions out of its 7 sessions. However, the third session, titled ‘Uncertainty,’ had a very serious problem.
The source code, model.py, which was provided in the course’s video presentation, failed to run.
The reason for the failure is that model.py was dependent on an import library, pomegranate. The problem is that the current version of pomegranate (2025) is not backwards compatible with the 2020 version. I would like to point out that I am not the only person who has experienced this problem. There were others who took the course and also made similar comments.
When I complained about it to edX, the answer was that they will not look into it because I am only auditing the course. This is not a professional response! If edX has a defective product, it should not tell a potential customer that they will not investigate the problem unless that customer buys the defective product.
For now, I do not recommend this course unless edX corrects this problem.

I recently paid for the "Introduction…

I recently paid for the "Introduction to Computer Science and Programming Using Python" course by MIT and enrolled in the verified track. I received the confirmation email and the order is also visible in my Order History, but the course dashboard still shows I am on the audit version and is prompting me to upgrade.

Here are the details:

Course Name: Introduction to Computer Science and Programming Using Python

Order ID: 2U-2025367782

Please fix this as soon as possible. I will only start with this course when this issue is resolved

Paid $299 for Harvard Certificate

Paid $299 for Harvard Certificate, edX Claims Payment Didn't Go Through

I enrolled my son in a Harvard course through edX and paid $299 for a physical certificate to be shipped. However, edX is now stating that the payment didn't go through, despite my bank statement clearly showing the charge. This situation is incredibly frustrating, especially since we've already completed the course and were looking forward to receiving the certificate.

I've attempted to resolve this through edX's support channels but haven't received a satisfactory response. It's disappointing to encounter such issues with a reputable platform. I hope edX addresses this promptly and ensures that other learners don't face similar problems.

Horrible support

Horrible support, they don't even read the request nor try to address any issues related to it, they just reply in an automatic/robotic way and close the request, once I realized I can get the Harvard certification free from the Harvard website itself, I don't even want the financial aid anymore, it's scummy to ask for payment for something that is provided for free.

Disappointing Customer Service and Technical Support

I was excited to enroll in a course on edX, as they offer quality content from top universities, and I was looking forward to learning. However, I ran into an ongoing technical issue that has left me frustrated. Despite multiple attempts to resolve the issue with customer service over email, I still cannot access certain parts of the course platform—specifically the Biography page where I cannot add my bio or location. The technical support team was quick to respond but suggested unenrolling from the course for a refund, rather than addressing the underlying issue.

I appreciate that edX has a great selection of courses, but my experience with their support has been disappointing. I hope they improve their technical support and communication, especially when issues like this are affecting the user experience. It would have been helpful if they had taken more steps to solve the problem directly rather than pushing for a cancellation.
