Fraudulent practice
Like many reviews before me - they charged automatic renewal without consent or reminder (I subscribe direct with them). I was aware I got charged 129us$ on the same day and contacted them straight away for a refund or at least pro rata refund.
Considering I’ve been a on off user for almost the past 10 years, I would have expected a better gesture or practice.
The app itself also promises the integration of AI but works very badly on that front. I’ve not seen noticeable improvements in the app over the years and I think it’s not worth it anymore.
Automatic renewal was charged on…
Automatic renewal was charged on 08.05.2026. I cancelled immediately and contacted support within 3 days without using the service afterwards.
Support replied that I was “beyond the 14-day refund period”, which was factually incorrect.
I understand renewal terms may differ, but the handling felt misleading and fully automated instead of fairly reviewed by a real person.
Dishonest practices and zero customer…
Dishonest practices and zero customer care
Freeletics refused to issue a refund on a subscription I no longer wanted, hiding behind a 14-day policy that is not made sufficiently clear at the point of sale. When I raised the issue, their "support" team sent what was clearly an automated reply — they even disclose this themselves at the bottom of the email.
No human review. No attempt to understand the situation. Just a rigid, scripted refusal dressed up with hollow sympathy.
Autorenewal without warning
I got hit with an autorenewal without warning. I wrote to them the next day and explained that I did want the renewal and they refused to give me a refund.
Charged €109 Without Warning Despite Immediate Cancellation
I’m really disappointed with Freeletics.
My annual subscription was renewed for €109 without any prior reminder email. I only found out because my bank app notified me of the attempted charge.
The same day, May 1st, I cancelled the subscription and contacted support asking them not to renew it and to refund the payment, as I no longer use the service.
The payment was still pending/held at that point. Freeletics only replied days later, after the charge had gone through, saying they would not refund subscription renewals because of their Terms & Conditions.
I understand automatic renewals exist. But renewing an annual plan without a clear reminder, then refusing a refund when the customer cancels immediately and has not used the service, feels like a very poor and unfair practice.
Freeletics, is this really how you want to treat customers?
DECEPTIVE PRACTICES: Charges without notice
Update: Freeletics eventually reimbursed me.
I was charged €50 for a renewal without any prior notification before the end of my 3-month trial. This is a clear violation of French consumer law (Loi Chatel), which mandates that service providers must inform users before a subscription renews automatically.
What’s even more concerning is that they used my payment information from a third-party login (Decathlon) without my explicit consent for this specific transaction. Their customer service refuses to refund, hiding behind "policies" that do not override national laws.
To all French users facing this issue: Do not let them get away with it. Report these practices on SignalConso (the official French fraud protection website). The more reports they get, the more likely we are to stop these "silent renewal" traps.
Unfair, dishonest, and legally questionable. Avoid at all costs.
Opaque thieves
I signed up to a bundle a year ago and in that time have had no notification that they would be taking payment to renew. They took £120 out of my account and on finding this they emailed me saying there was nothing they could do to refund me, they just pointed me to their terms and conditions, describing this as being "fair and transparent." iIf you were fair and transparent at least notify me before you're going to take money out of my account so I have a chance to cancel.
Predatory subscription model that…
Predatory subscription model that relies on you being unable to cancel, even minutes after renewing automatically. Don’t bother trying to communicate with them as they just mention the T&Cs and talk about how this is their attempt at being “fair” to customers.
Avoid.
Stay Clear of Freeletics
All you need to know about this company/app is they are the type of company that make you sign up to a yearly subscription that auto renews unless you cancel it, and then if you forget to cancel it, which is easily done when you don't use the service anymore becuase you are bored of it, they will charge you again without sending any reminder notifications to let you know there is an upcoming payment. Then when you request a refund for an honest mistake they deny your request. They are not even confident enough in their own product, that they would refund an otherwise satisfied customer who may have come back later on when they are looking to revisit the app and therefore generate future payments, and instead take my money now and refuse a genuine refund request to keep an actual customer happy who will now be advising everyone I know to stay away.
The only way I can describe the feeling is it feels like I have dropped £100 on the floor, and when I've turned around to pick it up, Freeletics have grabbed it and said "Sorry, this is mine now, you shouldn't have dropped it in the first place".
Customer service team don't care at all and offer generic responses, probably powered by AI like the rest of their products.
Complete disrespect for their users. Avoid.
If you had asked me a week ago I’d have given them 5 stars, I think the app is fantastic and have used it religiously for a couple of years. However last week I forgot to cancel a paid version of the subscription as I had a complimentary one with Revolut so didn’t need two. They charged for a year and have refused to refund. They even acknowledged that their business practices (not sending reminders before renewal) will be illegal when the new legislation comes in later this year - they are aware that they have bad business practices but don’t want to do anything about it until they are forced to. I am so disappointed as it was such a great app but I’d urge people to use literally any other provider considering how poorly they treat their users.
Bad experience with them
The subscription is renewed automatically without any clear notification at the time of renewal, and I believe the company relies on users overlooking this.
This has only happened to me once before with another provider, and in that case their customer support handled the situation professionally by cancelling the subscription and refunding the payment.
In contrast, Freeletics informed me that they would no longer respond to my emails if I continued insisting on the matter. I would also like to highlight that I contacted them first thing in the morning, immediately after noticing the renewal.
I would also advise others to pay close attention to what Freeletics refers to as the “14-day money-back guarantee period.” At first glance, this wording suggests that the 14 days apply after the subscription has been renewed. However, based on the email exchange with their support team, they later clarified that it actually refers to the 14 days before the renewal date.
Worst customer experience I have ever experienced.
Subscription cancelled. Payment taken anyway. Scam!
I cancelled my subscription with Freeletics through Apple after hardly using the app.
However, it appears Apple do not speak to Freeletics. The subscription was not cancelled and I have now been invoiced €110 !! Unbelievable!!
This should never have happened and I feel like I have been scammed. I contacted support and instantly received an automatic reply that renewals are non-refundable. It is a smart business model if you just ignore subscription cancellations!!
If Customer Support fixes this issue I will amend this review. In the meantime, STAY AWAY FROM FREELETICS.
Scam - avoid!! Charged incorrectly and refused refund
I cancelled freeletics last year alongside Pliability because they weren't good (really basic suggestions - all AI led). And yet, they've charged me £130 again this year.
When you email them to dispute it, they send you an automatic AI response telling you they don't do refunds. No human contact whatsoever. There is no human customer service - it's all AI.
If you try and call them, it goes to a telecom centre in munich where you get charged for every minute you're on the call.
As you'll see by the other reviews, this is a really common occurance. Please do what I didn't and list to the reviews.
It's all a scam - do not sign up!!!
Total scam
I subscribed a year ago for a one year subscribtion. Couple of months later I found out that I am not using the app that much and cancelled my subscribtion and today I found them charging me a full amount of subscribtion fee and I contacted them immediately but they said I can't get a refund for a service renewal. So, I got charged for a subscribtion I already cancelled a long time ago. Please avoide, it's a money trap big scam.
Super flexible app
Adjust workouts and programs to your needs, available equipment and desires. The great thing is that you can also make those adjustments ad-hoc when you have a sudden injury or when you are traveling. For a globe trotter like me, this is simply perfect: never an excuse! I also like the active cool downs for flexibility. And yes, you only loose weight when on a calorie deficit. That has nothing to do with the app. The app has a food guide to but that’s not achievable when traveling or when at home with a family of 5 😉
Overall great experience
Overall great experience!
Went from not running to running consistently with the help of the app. It’s the first time I use an app like this and it was really good. The only thing I would change is to be able to track indoor run as well as outdoor during the journey.

Poor service auto renewed without authorisation and no refund! Workout all via AI difficult to alter and app seemed to crash especially when no internet connection
I’m a Revolut Premium and perk not working.
I’m a Revolut Premium user and one of the perks is supposed to be Freeletics Premium - which I couldn’t even try once.
Every time I try to activate it, it says the code is already redeemed.
I contact Freeletics → they tell me to talk to Revolut.
I contact Revolut → they tell me to talk to Freeletics.
Endless ping-pong, zero ownership, zero solution.
Absolute nonsense for something that’s advertised as a “premium perk”.
The renewal process says 50% offer
The renewal process says 50% offer, but charges you full price
Auto-renewed at full price with no reminder. Refund refused.
I bought a discounted 12 month Freeletics subscription on Black Friday for £36.00. It then renewed automatically a year later for £119.99.
I received no renewal reminder or warning. I searched thoroughly (including spam/promotions) and there is no reminder email in my inbox.
Had I been reminded, I would have cancelled. I do not use the service and did not knowingly agree to renew at full price.
I contacted Freeletics immediately after the renewal and they refused a refund.
If you’re considering Freeletics, treat it like an auto-renew trap: set your own calendar reminder to cancel or you may be charged unexpectedly at the full price.
They made zero effort to look after me as a customer. I'll be warning everyone about them from now on.
