I needed a new suite but didn’t want to pay for a bespoke one as I rarely wear a suite nowadays.
Scott dealt with me. He was excellent: gave me good advice and supervised the necessary alterations.
The finished suite arrived two weeks later and I am delighted with it.
Thank you Scott.

I was specifically looking for blazers

I was specifically looking for blazers, and Jamie was very attentive and courteous and knew exactly what he was talking about when it concerned the fit of the several blazers I tried. He didn't try to sell me anything else, concentrating only on what I sought. The welcome drink helped as well. The selection of clothing was enticing. Having worn the blazers now, I can confirm that they are of utmost quality and feel snug and well fit. All in all, I will be returning when I visit London in the future.

Post sale customer experience is a…

Post sale customer experience is a non-existent.

Shirt that was part of £695 sale had a rip across the shoulder blade, made vague excuses as to the reason for the rip (which can't be repaired). Refused to replace the shirt which is valued under £40.

Won't be spending any more money there and I'd recommend you don't either if you value customer service after a sale.

Very good sale item

I have purchased a number of high-quality (high-priced) items. It was nice to pick up the technical raincoat at almost 70% off the RRP.

The site is user-friendly and the jacket duly arrived on Thursday, one day before I was expecting it.

Dreadful e-commerce experience

I buy suits from Gieves & Hawkes, and think they are excellent. However, for a company that prides itself on the high quality of its clothing, its e-commerce customer experience is one of the worst I have seen.

I bought a t-shirt in the sale, and had to pay £7.50 to have it shipped to me. This seemed very steep (especially compared to other e-commerce platforms), but I paid it. The t-shirt arrived and was the wrong size, so I emailed customer service to ask if I could return it. When they finally replied over a week later, I was informed that I would have to pay to send the t-shirt back. Again, this experience falls significantly short of other online retailers, that would include free returns labels as standard. So I walked to the Gieves & Hawkes shop in Savile Row—a round trip of two hours—and asked if I could return the t-shirt there. They told me I could not return it in person "because of covid" (?!), and that the only course of action was to return it online. So I again complained to customer service, asking them to give me a free returns label, given I had paid a huge premium to have a small item shipped to me, and given the extent I had gone to to try to return it in person. I even pointed out that I was an existing customer who had bought suits from them in the past and who was planning to do so again, in the hope that they would feel my ongoing custom was worth the cost a returns label (approximately £2). They simply did not reply.

So, in short, I would not recommend buying from them online—customer service is useless, and it's a ripoff, because postage charges are astronomical and do not include free returns labels. Very, very disappointing.

Fraudulent e-commerce site?

I was looking online for a pair of trousers, to a particular specification. Gieves & Hawkes' online site showed the ideal product, listed as 'In stock'; and at a good price. So I tried to buy.

The site page did not have a button "Into the basket".

Tried again the next day; same result. Sent the website address a message asking why it wasn't working. Nothing, for 2 days, then a reply "We have no stock of this item". No apology; no alternative suggestion.

Two days after that, the item is still showing as 'In stock'.

Tried ringing the store, and the e-commerce department, several times. People at the store tried to be helpful. But from e-commerce: no response – except repeated answerphone messages promising a callback. No callback.

I believe this item is a "Tickler" – designed to arouse interest, without actually existing. In which case the e-commerce site is a fraud.
