Beware: they’ll happily provide you with a car whose tank is only 3/4 full, but if you return it with just 1 liter missing, they’ll charge you €38. To make matters worse, their app shows different starting fuel levels depending on which screen you’re looking at.
And of course, if you return the car with more fuel than it had when you picked it up, you won’t get any refund.
I also had another nice surprise with them: they hadn’t paid for the parking, so when I picked up the car, I ended up being stuck at the exit gates and had to pay the parking fee myself. They eventually refunded me three weeks later.
Successful experience at Avignon TGV station. 2 mn after alighting the train, off we go ! App easy to use, nice car, the promise is fulfilled.
I was charged an additional €367.56 for alleged scratches to the bumper that I do not believe occurred while the car was in my possession.
There was no visible damage when I returned the vehicle. The photos provided with the charge are low resolution and do not clearly establish the damage or when it occurred.
I have also tried repeatedly to contact the company for an explanation, but their customer support has been virtually non-existent.
Based on my experience, I would strongly recommend avoiding this company.

Terrible experience with Virtuo.
I was charged €185 for alleged damage to the front right alloy wheel, even though Virtuo’s own vehicle condition report already documented “Front alloy wheel right damaged” under the initial vehicle conditions before my rental. I can provide a screenshot from their own PDF report showing this clearly.
In other words, they charged me for damage that their own documentation shows was already present.
What makes this even worse is the way the dispute has been handled. I contacted their support three separate times, clearly explained the situation, and referred them to their own report. Instead of properly reviewing the evidence and resolving the case, they simply ignored my dispute.
Charging a customer for pre-existing damage is unacceptable. Ignoring repeated complaints when your own documentation contradicts the charge is even worse.
I am still waiting for the €185 to be refunded and for Virtuo to explain how this charge was approved in the first place.

What went well? The onboarding experience. The concept is pretty cool to have a rental car that you can fully set up before you leave and take as if it were your car at the airport.
What doesn’t work?
First, the fact your key is your phone means you need to bring a power pack with you to not get locked out
they’re not checking the cars properly between two customers: my car had an engine failure light on as I took it as well as an under inflated tire
Third, I was charged for fuel, even though I gave back the car at full fuel, and there is no way to properly set to reclamation and get an answer on the app- as soon as you do, you get no answer and cannot follow up on the claim
As much as I like the concept, this is not the right company to apply it

We were forced to spend a night in a Paris hotel when the system would not release our key code despite being validated. Virtuo refused to accept responsibility for this though they did not charge us for the half day of rental lost. Beware also steep charges if the car is not returned to exactly the same place it was picked up from or for fuel if not fully refilled.
We hired a car at Marseille Provence Airport arriving at 11pm on 1 July 2026. It took us 1hr 20mns to find the car and only with the aid of a security guard. The colour of the car was not given , and the photos provided were out of date and replaced several months ago. I raised this with Virtuo but they were not interested . When we returned thcar on 29 July the same signage and indications were given . I complained to Virtuo. A chat agent comes online , fobs you off and I have heard nothing since. I had other problems with the car during rental. I will not use them again and will tell my friends to avoid them . There is no support during or after rental.
Virtuo will find a way to charge you. They hit me with a £90 cleaning fee, allegedly for "very dirty conditions," backed by a single photo of some crumbs sent a full week after the rental.

Standard response to previous review. Their system is flawed. I have reported my identity theft and virtuo to the police.
Virtuo remain uncontactable. Can't reach them by phone. They ignore repeated emails. I have started legal action against this company.

Really efficient apps and easy to use.
The team is great and helpful .
Everything was handled online through the app, which made the whole process very smooth and convenient. The app provided clear information and step-by-step guidance for the rental, including the car’s location in the car park, the initial inspection, and the return process.
I really appreciated that no credit card was required, and I was able to pay easily with Apple Pay. There was also no need to go to any rental desk — the car was ready in the car park right in front of the terminal at Nice Airport. The parking fee was reimbursed afterwards without any issue.
The car was practically brand new, very clean, and had modern equipment, including wireless CarPlay. I also liked the option to add zero excess insurance and extra kilometres. The deposit was returned quickly, as it was only a card pre-authorisation.
Overall, it was a great experience during our holiday in Provence, and I can highly recommend Virtuo.
Virtuo is the best autonomous car rental I have tried. Trustworthy and convenient
Everything was easy and perfect. Much more efficient than renting through a classic rental company.
The only pb was to find the car. Explanations were not clear and I had a hard time
So nice to catch your car directly with your mobile phone !
Really good services, right in time, the car was clean and brand new.
Do not use Virtuo unless you’re 100% confident nothing will go wrong. If you need support, the app doesn’t work. You will be stuck talking to a chatbot in an infinite loop with no way to talk to a real person. I was stuck in a cold car park unable to access our car, which ultimately meant I had to cancel our Airbnb and find alternative accommodation at my expense, with no refund for my Airbnb.
Virtuo are beyond useless. It’s the AI slop of car rental. Go with a company with real people not chatbots.

I’d give 0 of I could. Wrongly got a debt company to chase me on 2024, who then apologised and said they closed the account. Now received same chasing emails in 2026 only again to be told they were incorrect and they have closed my account. Incompetent and broken cars. Please do not use or do so at your peril
