No Show

I had a very disappointing experience as a new patient.

I initially tried to schedule my appointment online, but I couldn't complete the process because the therapist I selected did not have my insurance listed in the scheduling dropdown. That forced me to call the office, where I was offered three appointment times on a Friday with the therapist I specifically chose. I received both an email and text confirmation for the appointment.

I arrived on time, checked in using the barcode from the confirmation, and waited for 20 minutes before learning that my therapist was a no-show.

I was then told that the therapist doesn't work on Fridays. If that's the case, why was I offered Friday appointment times, allowed to schedule the appointment, sent confirmations, and checked in upon arrival? This breakdown in communication wasted my time and undermined my confidence in the practice.

What makes this especially disappointing is that seeking therapy is often difficult for new clients. It takes courage to reach out for help, time to research therapists, and vulnerability to choose someone you believe you can connect with. To finally make that first appointment only to be left waiting for someone who was never scheduled to be there has the opposite effect of making someone feel supported.

Dr. Richard Kneip, founder of Great Lakes Psychology, states, "We put patient wellbeing at the forefront of our operations. Our innovative outlets for help, along with our transparency and compassion, allows for a quick road to recovery with whatever hardship life throws your way." Unfortunately, my experience did not reflect those values. I hope the practice reviews its scheduling procedures so that future patients don't have their first step toward getting help become an avoidable disappointment.

Caring, respectful, and professional therapy.

My therapist, Nancy Carrera, was excellent. She listened carefully, taking notes as I explained my situation, and then asked some poignant questions.

Her detailed analysis greatly helped me see more clearly, which led me to weighing my options and making a firm decision for myself. Wow, we accomplished so much in my first session! Thank you, Nancy!

GLPG highly recommended

My experience with and care received from GLPG has improved my coping skills during one of the most challenging periods of my life. Marilynn “Lynn” Brown is compassionate and knowledgeable. I’m grateful for and highly recommend the GLPG for those seeking care.

Liz is fabulous

Liz is fabulous. I have the O.L.D. disease and going around the earth over 70 times now. I've had therapy serveral times during the "highlights" of my life. Or should I say, "lowlights". So, I've seen several counselors/therapists in my lifetime and I have to say that Liz is one of the best. She's caring, she knows who I'm talking about when I bring up the actors in my life and seems to remember all my stories even when I don't. I stopped seeing her for a while and then my husband passed away, rest in peace my darling. She immediately set up a new appointment for me without any hesitation knowing intuitively just how much I would need her with that news. And now, two times in my life she has helped me walk thru the "lowlights" in my life. Thank you Liz.

Thankful for trying therapy for first time in my life

I was impressed with Dr. David's listening skills, interpretation of what she heard me revealing about the circumstances I am in and resulting mental health challenges I have faced for the first time in my life...never thought I would require such services, but I do and wasn't sure what to expect. It was a very pleasant interaction and I look forward to continuing our sessions so I can gain coping mechanisms and skills to overcome what has happened to me and my life in 2025 which was a sudden, unexpected upheaval from multiple sources and has crushed me in so many ways I didn't think possible.
