I've placed three orders with Haas…
I've placed three orders with Haas Tooling and had two of them go bad. The first was for a birthday present for my son. I paid for the winner's circle that gets free 1 day shipping. It did not ship in one day, and now many months later the transaction still shows as processing, although I did eventually get the order. I demanded my money back on the winner's circle membership.
The second and much more annoying one was a recent purchase. I was looking for some plain bright aluminum geometry APKT 1003 size inserts. A google search showed a HAAS product that looked like the right insert. When the insert arrived it was clearly the wrong size. 1003 is a 10mm length insert. The insert that arrived was nearly double that size. In my opinion paying for ad words to be first in a Google search and pointing people to a totally wrong product is dishonest at best. Worse they don't even list a bright aluminum geometry insert in a 1003 size. My regular industrial supplier like MSC and MCMaster would absolutely make it right, pay return shipping and refund me 100%. HAAS charges a 20% penalty and does not refund shipping either. Maybe it was partly my fault. Since the listing doesn't actually show any standard size I suppose I should have dived into the inscribed circle and other dimensions to double check. Sadly, HAAS also wants me to shut down the shop and drive into town to drop off the return. At first I printed a sign that says HAAS LAST and stapled it to the wall behind one of my machines with the bag of inserts stapled over top of it, but then I decided to ship them back (sign is still up) in a priority mail envelope, and see what happens. If HAAS doesn't find another way to jerk me around and waste my time I might upgrade them to three stars, because... see next paragraph.
My third order from HAAS was the okay. It arrived next day, and appears to be what I actually ordered.
CONCLUSION: If you buy tooling from HAAS make darn sure its the correct item, and while their Winner's Circle program worked twice, it didn't work the first time.
NOTE: I don't know if they all are, but it appears on review that HAAS' inserts are made in China. If you are okay with Chinese inserts just order them on eBay or Amazon direct from China.
UPDATE: A few days later. The listed mailing address appears not to be valid, or they refused my shipment. Not sure. Downgraded to one star. See "Return to HAAS" on "Bob's Workshop" on Rumble for my final return to Haas.
