Poor quality toys

Poor quality toys. Our children spent their pocket money at the large London store. On a Saturday. By Sunday, the battery operated rabbit broke being dropped down three small steps suggesting the internal connections to the battery port are flimsy, the slime lid is impossible to open and the foam gliders (extortionate at 12 quid) broke within seconds of opening. Anything that is “hamleys” own brand toy I would steer clear of. The other stuff we bought that was of different brand has all been great - but the Hamleys own brand items are expensive, poor quality and disappointing

Website is awful

Website is awful. They recognises demand for Pokemon products but drop them onto their website which does not load correctly, fails when signing in, sends error messages and blocks you. It’s rare anyone actually gets any product and seems to be just supplying to bots for scalpers. No company this big should have a website this bad in 2026, it’s embarrassing.

In Vijaya forum mall we family visited Hamleys toys and we found very prominent sales man Mr.Anand Raj to guide and select very good playcar to satisfy my son and niece daughter. We feel happy after our purchase. Thanks to Hamleys and salesman.

Inhumane temps at Liverpool Street…

Visited the new Liverpool Street Station store during the recent heatwave and was shocked by how hot it was inside—significantly warmer than the 34°C temperature outside. There appeared to be no effective air conditioning, and staff were working in extremely uncomfortable conditions with only a mini clip-on fan at one till.

The employees were friendly, professional and helpful throughout, but I was genuinely concerned for their wellbeing. Under the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992 and the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999, employers have a duty to provide a reasonable working environment and assess risks such as excessive heat.

While the staff were excellent, the conditions they were expected to work in did not appear acceptable. I hope management reviews its heat risk assessments and takes steps to improve ventilation, cooling and overall staff welfare.

Don't ever use hamleys

I ordered miniature plush toys from disney online and to my surprise the website is a scam. The payment went through and my account was debited with the amount but the order was never placed. It's a pathetic website, with the customer care being useless, who won't help you even if it's an urgent order. I don't know if I'll even get my money back or my order delivered.

Ordered a boardgame online

Ordered a boardgame online. It said if I pay £5.99 and order before 12pm, I would receive it next day and that would work out nicely, as the following day was my day off and I would be home. So I ordered it at 9:06am and got confirmation that it would be delivered next day and gave the following days date.
Well that was the 12th of June and its now the 15th and there's no sign of my order. So I'm not particularly happy and there has been zero contact to offer any explanation. Still waiting as of 17 June.

Falsely advertise products for commission

Staff con you into buying products that are falsely advertised as they get a commission on sales. When I made a complaint they expected me to post the item back, fill out of a form and include the original receipt. They acknowledged that the product was falsely advertised and that it would be fed back to the manager. Despite sending them a photo of my receipt and item as proof of purchase, they won’t provide a refund as I don’t still have the original receipt.

We visited Regents St Hamleys store…

We visited Regents St Hamleys store today to give our two boys an exciting experience. The various toy demonstrations caught our boys attention and quickly they wanted the toy. We purchased the Zorbi Magic Flying Saucer and the Thunder Tomcat Jet, both very expensive but we presumed they would be good quality. When we opened them at home it was EXTREMELY disappointing as the quality of both are so poor. Cheap plastic, the jet broke within 2 minutes of using it. Our children are very upset and we are mortified we paid so much! We will not get conned in to buying from here again. Even the basket balls don't bounce!
An absolute disgrace for such a well known institution!
After paying all that money they try to charge you £10 for a bag at the till, what a joke!

They have worst service quality and their delivery partner is Xpressbess that does not deliver on time.
They show different dates on their website and they deliver after 4-5 days of that
Their refund takes 1 month

I will be avoiding now

Places an order, their website crashed over and over but the order was placed, I asked support to confirm and they said payment hadn't been taken yet so I asked if I could redo the payment, they said no because it was fine and would go though, it didn't as the authentication didn't come through and now staff said to re order even though it's out of stock.
The support staff are no help and do not understand what to do.

Website is awful

Website is awful, impossible to purchase pokemon products, very slow and when i was able to get onto the item page i couldn't add to basket. Majority of the time it says i was blocked.
Message from website:

Ridiculous.

Black Star

If there is negative rating, I would choose that. Pathetic service and no communication. Commitment to delivery is non existent! Never ever buy from them.

They manipulated my autistic son

Disgusting behaviour.
My 7 year old autistic son was so excited to make his first purchase with his new card and picked out some jelly beans that he thought were £5 he stated this at the counter and the cashier did not correct him allowing him to buy these for £20 not offering him a receipt.
This is so manipulative will not be purchasing from this store again

Do not order from this company.

Returned a faulty item for replacement. On website it said it would be actioned within 7 days. Day 14 contacted customer services who replied that I should contact them again after 15 days as it could be the fault of Royal Mail. At 21 days I contacted them again asking for a refund and was told the item was on its way and I would receive it in a few days. The next day I received an email saying there was a problem at the warehouse and they would send me details when it was dispatched. It has now been 4 weeks. Fortunately it was only a low value item. I will never order from Hamleys again.

I recently purchased an item from their toy catalogue

I recently purchased an item from Hamleys.com worth over £35, which should have qualified for standard free delivery. However, at checkout, I was not allowed to have it delivered to my home and was instead forced to collect it from the nearest post office — with an additional £3 “privilege” fee.

This makes no sense: I am inconvenienced by having to pick up the parcel myself, yet I am penalised for it. This was not an expedited delivery option, and no delivery time was even specified.

I’m disappointed. As much as I want to support different retailers, I always end up returning to Amazon, where delivery is reliably free above a certain amount, regardless of the delivery address.

Not really serious with online orders at all

I made an online order for a PS5 which was being sold on offer on the Hamley’s website. I was upset when I received an email 2 days later from them informing me that the order was cancelled because they did not have it in store any more. I have made the payment for the PS5 using Klarna’s pay in 3 plan. Two weeks down the line and I am still struggling to get the refund for the first payment as Klarna is claiming they have not received any information from Hamley’s to confirm the order was cancelled. Extremely disappointing experience for me.
