We were recommended HPHB by friends and are so glad we followed their recommendation. The classes were really informative and led by a fantastic midwife who answered all the questions we threw at her! We met some lovely couples who we are continuing to keep in touch with now the classes are over. And the online sessions and resources on the course portal have also been incredibly helpful, especially the breastfeeding discussion (I know I'm going to go back to this video in a few weeks time once my baby is born).

Really great classes, with experienced and friendly teachers. All the other couples were lovely too!

Overall, we enjoyed the course and Bea, our host, was engaging, approachable and clearly knowledgeable. She created a relaxed atmosphere and encouraged everyone to participate.

There are, however, several areas where I think the course could be improved.

Firstly, I think the opening session should place much greater emphasis on helping the group get to know one another and start building the "village" that the course promotes. One of the biggest attractions of antenatal classes is meeting other expectant parents who are at a similar stage and building a local support network. That aspect felt like an afterthought rather than a central part of the course.

The online videos were also disappointing. The information itself was generally good, but the production quality felt very basic. Most of the videos consist of a static talking head against a plain white background, with little variation throughout. There are no cutaways to practical demonstrations, very few on-screen graphics, animations or visual aids to reinforce the learning, and the format becomes quite repetitive. For an online learning package, I expected a much more engaging experience.

The final "celebration social" was unfortunately the biggest disappointment. Throughout the course it was presented as an opportunity to celebrate finishing, have some food together and continue building relationships with the other parents. In reality, there didn't appear to be any organisation behind it. The venue wasn't expecting our group, there was no table reserved, nobody from Happy Parents Happy Baby attended, and we had to ask whether it was even possible to order food because the kitchen was already catering for a coach party. It left a rather underwhelming end to what had otherwise been an enjoyable course, and it does make me wonder whether the advertised reunion later in the year has been planned any differently.

Ultimately, I'm not convinced the course represents good value for money. At £230 per couple, the online materials are a one-off investment for the company and can be reused indefinitely. The course is advertised as five in-person classes plus a reunion, but the fifth "class" was simply meeting at a pub for a social gathering, with no organised activity, no reserved space, and no refreshments provided by Happy Parents Happy Baby. Based on our experience, that means you're effectively paying around £57.50 per taught session.

At that price point, I would have expected refreshments to be provided during the in-person sessions, and for the social events to be properly organised. Instead, much of the face-to-face teaching felt like the online content being presented again in PowerPoint form or demonstrated with a doll. Much of the underlying information is already available for free from the NHS, local maternity services and charities such as The Lullaby Trust, so I struggled to see enough additional value to justify the cost.

Overall, we enjoyed meeting other expectant parents and appreciated Bea's enthusiasm and knowledge, but there are several aspects of the course that need improving before I could recommend it at its current price.

Great course, very informative, had a huge amount of information but also was presented in a way which was not overwhelming. Would really recommend to any new parents as it’s not only incredibly helpful but also great to meet other local first time parents.

We really enjoyed the Happy Parent Happy Baby course, it was well structured, helpful and friendly. We feel a lot more prepared and knowledgeable than we went in, and have met a lovely group of people. Very good value and welll worth the cost.

I joined this course as I was extremely anxious about birth and everything relating to pregnancy, I found this course very useful in settling my nerves and being educated from birth to post partum, Miya who took the course was so informative and no question was ever silly or too much, and the group we were with were all really lovely people and it was great to be with likeminded people, I would highly recommend this course with this company if you are like me and are a very anxious person! They covered all basis from the lead up to birth all the way to when baby is here and how to care for them, the online Q&A’s are also very helpful to listen to in the house!

Great course and met some wonderful people

I really enjoyed our Happy Parents Happy Baby classes. It was a great chance for us to learn about birth and baby care together, as well as meet other expecting parents in the area. The classes have made us feel more prepared for parenthood and we especially appreciated that they included first aid training. We would highly recommend to any expecting parents!

We attended the course in Leamington Spa and came away very informed, reassured and with great connections with other attendees. The course surpassed expectations and we’d highly recommended it to any prospective parent. The information was clear and unbiased with no question being too silly. Jess who ran our course was excellent, very friendly and a calming presence. The online content along with the Q&A sessions were also very valuable. We’re looking forward to putting what we learnt into practice!

The course was brilliant. Tamsin our instructor was great, very knowledgeable and taught the classes extremely well. Can recommend to any soon to be parents.

Happy parents happy baby course was amazing and I was lucky to be able to be a part of it. Our group had Lauren as the host of our sessions and she was honestly fantastic! Everything was set up extremely and very well run, from the face to face sessions, the live sessions and sessions available on the portal.

The face to face sessions Lauren hosted were amazing, and she comes with a wealth of knowledge, people skills, made me feel comfortable and so approachable and friendly and the session were packed with great theory and practicality !

Anybody looking to do this course wouldn’t regret it all and it really helps you prepare for all steps leading up to your baby and when the baby arrives.

Would honestly recommend HPHB to everyone!!

My partner and I had a great experience at Happy parents happy baby and it was a very worthwhile experience. We were provided with lots of unbiased, practical information delivered in a friendly and understandable way and supplemented with practical activities. The provider was a fantastic host and there no questions was considered too small or silly. We would highly recommend it to new parents!

Really well setup session, online portal with pre reading followed by in person presentation. Sessions had a nice mix of theoretical and then practical hands on activities too. Also get to meet a bunch of great people for the future.

Signed up with little knowledge, and walked away after the sessions feeling fully prepped, confident, with resources galore and a new set of friends to help support eachother through the next big step in our lives. 100% recommend the HBHP classes.

Great course host, really informative and helped us feel more confident going into parenthood

HPHB was such a lovely experience, the sessions were very informative and our host was absolutely amazing , the conversations had were very helpful amongst us parents, our questions were answered in detail which is really reassuring. The venue we were at (westow house) was perfect and luckily air conditioned in the hot weather. The Hypnobirthing activities were so much fun as we all took turns swapping tables it allowed us to get to know each other a bit more.

All sessions were really informative and we both came away feeling like we had something we could relate to our own context. If we had any questions we didnt feel comfortable asking in front of everyone then the host would always stay back very approachable, friendly and honest.

The workshops that were more hands on we enjoyed more and have enjoyed getting to know others around us going through similar things.

Good value for money - would highly recommend

Holly was a great instructor and explained everything very well. It was also a great location and great group of people. I would definitely recommend to other expecting parents.

HPHB is such a great course to start this new parenthood adventure. All the topics are thoroughly covered, the instructors are available and set real expectations making you feel comfortable that no experience is like the other - in labour, in feeding, baby after care and so on. Hence why they make sure that every aspect is covered. You have many chances to get answers to all your questions with all the accessible material - video pre in session classes, in session classes and Q&S session - and loads of experts covering every topic.
The idea of having these meetings in a pub make the experience more sociable and helps making feel fathers more involved as well.
I could not recommend this course more!
