Who are these people ignoring cold caller notices?
I live in a marked no cold calls area in an isolated rural cottage row. This lunchtime I heard a tiny noise near my front door (I have a heavy iron knocker). I noticed someone outside. A rough-mannered woman asked me several times if I was the occupier. She neither introduced herself nor showed any ID. She said she was from "an energy Company - Haste". No leaflets - nothing. She asked yet again whether I was the occupier. I refused to say. She then repeated that she was from Haste. I pointed to the "no cold callers" notice" on my front door and suggested she learn how to identify herself and how to use a door knocker. Have no idea who these people are or what they want, but she didn't call next door. Have put a warning notice up on our local Facebook page.
Good luck if they are coming on behalf of Octopus
Haste are subcontracted by Octopus Energy to install earth rods for Tesla batteries for example. My elderly parents had a scheduled rod installation. I was on site with the contractor from Haste to make sure everything went okay...he confirmed he had installed the rod; however, was getting too high a reading. He needed a max of 199, and he was receiving 203. Not an issue, he assured me, Octopus had the tools to drive the rod in further to get a better reading. A week later, I get an email from Octopus saying the rod was not installed?! Absolutely bizarre situation! Make sure you document all interactions from the contractor.
Another last minute let-down by Haste
Another last minute let-down by the company, with its box of excuses. Poor customer service.
Request a third party company, HASTE are criminals and racist
The criminal acts these employees commit whilst on duty this unnamed employee. Knocked on my door I didn’t even get a chance to open my door fully this man was in my property literally was in my face, I had to push him out he then stated he’s got a warrant entered my property again got push back out and told him show me your warrant I’ll let you hit obviously he didn’t have one lied , whilst he’s colleague it watching him illegally enter my house twice not say a word the this midegt of a man decided to hurl a racial slur at me because I questioned him
About a warrant he said he had then got the check to call the police and say I was being aggressive then wait 3 hours outside my house. People be advised they can’t enter without your consent if they are being aggressive you are not obstructing anything, and you have a right to ask your ENGERY provider for a third party company to attend and do whatever checks that need to be done . They are criminals do not let them in your property , if he or any of them push passed you without a court order warrant that’s trespassing they can force there way in. Be extremely careful with these criminals
Excellent help
Honestly,
They have been so kind and understanding. Professional and have gone out of their way to help me through a difficult time.
Thank you Ella and all of your team.
Aggressive, unwarranted, rude, liars.
The same as many others here. I arrived at my premises to find a letter tucked under the shutter. It’s a letter threatening court - I’ve never heard from these guys before ever. They’ve apparently turned up while I was out and thus felt it appropriate to threaten court? I rung octopus, my supplier, who stated they have not requested anything on my account but that I should comply with haste. Man on the phone with haste was rude, short, didnt answer my questions and gave me one date only to be in for their service. I rung haste again later to clarify what they intended to do and spoke to the most unpleasant woman. Was told it’s a “meter inspection”, that they’ve tried to get ahold of me for over two months and “have left me letters”. Apparently leaving a letter outside on the ground counts as delivery according to them. After this unpleasant phone call I contacted octopus once again who went through my account a second time and have informed me that there has been no such request from them to inspect my meter. I’m waiting for additional confirmation in writing to send to haste. Who, by the way, have not responded to my email inquiry at all. Overall 0/10. Aggressive, unwarranted, rude. We’ll see if they show up to their booking as I’ve seen many others here say they don’t.
Intermittent Faulty item replaced after 11 months.
I had an on going issue with a replaced item after a neutral power line fault which was almost a year in the past. Haste were sympathetic and the outcome was a full refund so I could go and buy a replacement myself.
What was truly impressive was the replies to any email I sent in which was usually the same day.
Well impressed with the office staff set up here.
Earth rod install (Octopus)
A nice chap installed an earth-rod (on behalf of Octopus). He discussed what was needed, answered all my questions, and installed in the most convenient location for me. Very tidy job, very helpful, courteous, and considerate engineer.
Thanks!
Illegal Entry
Turned up at our property. Broke in. Entered. Declined a verbal challenge to identify themselves. Became hostile and then left, turning the electricity to our healthcare company off. Refused to show us a warrant or any power of entry. We have incurred significant costs and loss of business. And the best bit…the debt was absolutely nothing to do with us. They wouldn’t listen. We’re hostile and ended up turning their office phones off and refused to talk to me. Solicitors letter on its way!
Dont know what all moaning about on…
Dont know what all moaning about on here tbh.. came to inspect my meter and was so polite..Sorry but if you have nothing to hide then let them do there job..Simple... Fixed a broken seal and left.. happy days.. thank you
Bullies
Haste arrived today...unannounced!.
They wanted to remove my meter so a smart meter was could be installed,(acting on behalf of Octopus, by fake court order)
They called Po lice.....who assaulted me.
Haste removed meter and left......I had no power!!!
Octopus emailed me to say engineer will be 4-5 hrs !!!!
5pm he arrived fitted Smart to my home!!! , but told me he was NOT qualified to reconnect power !??
After spending the night in my car...mainly to charge my phone, the Council arranged a proper qualified electrician to sort it out !!!
Leaving octopus as soon as my solicitor has dealt with them.
Ignored all letters acted in fraud and…
Ignored all letters acted in fraud and have damaged property. Cut of supply to a person who has vulnerabilities did not even call to the front door to check and did not give a copy of the so called warrant. Disgusting company.
Haste criminals employed by utilities crooks
Haste are the criminals that OVO,OCTOPUS,EDF and others use to mask their debt recovery activities.they use co-ercion,fake warrants of entry, corrupt and faked court orders.
Armed with these instruments this pack of charlatans claim to have authority to remove meters despite them not being qualified electricians or gas safe engineers.they have been found to leave families with young children to freeze with no power or gas, steal privately owned meters from vulnerable people and lie to qualified personnel and the police.OFGEM are condoning this via the fees paid under the MEANINGLESS paid for “qualification “
Of “MoCopa” .Not one individual employed by HASTE could produce any form of evidence they were qualified to touch, work on or inspect gas or electrical meters.Quite simply state sponsored drones causing harm, injury and loss.Soon to be struck off in Southampton.
Haste engineers have been unlawfully…
Haste engineers have been unlawfully tampering with customer-owned gas meters. They are not Gas Safe registered, not certified electricians, and lack proper health and safety accreditation.
This is not just unprofessional — it’s a serious breach of legal and safety standards. Their actions pose significant risks to public safety and may constitute a criminal offence.
I strongly urge others to report any similar incidents to:
– The Police
– Gas Safe Register
– Health and Safety Executive (HSE)
This kind of conduct should not be ignored or tolerated.
BEWARE
BEWARE: Haste engineers Tamper with Customer owned meters unlawfully- The are not gas safe register or electricians or Health and safety certified! Make a crime report ASAP! Complain to Gas safe register and HSE and the Police!!
Kept showing up unannounced with…
Kept showing up unannounced with threatening letters then MISSED THE APPOINTMENT I MADE.
I purchased a house missing a smart meter for gas and electric. Haste was contracted by Octopus to inspect the meters. For a month or so they showed up unannounced, dropped progressively more threatening letters (including court warrant threats) and left. I verified they were legitimate with the electric company and made an appointment.
They gave me a window of 9AM-12PM on a work day so I stuck around for as long as I could and they missed the window. No refined time estimate, no confirmation, just didn’t show up. Then I had to leave the house and they arrived at 2:30 PM. All of my calls now just get disconnected or go to voicemail with no return.
I am going to do everything I can to drop Octopus and never deal with this useless company again. For any corporations considering haste for collections or inspections, you are wasting your time because they’re terrible at it.
Awful experience with this company
Awful experience with this company, they scared the Tennant at my rental property into thinking she would require unneeded electrical works to be carried out. They refused to speak to me about the issue as they were working on behalf of an energy company.
These guys apparently work on behalf of…
These guys apparently work on behalf of utilities warehouse. Turned up twice no phone call or anything during work hours. Left 2 letters the second threatening legal action. Very unsettling and unprofessional. Rang to complain and was fobbed off and made to feel bad because I'm out working. After alot of back and forth suddenly the engineer was available after 5pm. Can't wait until he shows up. Joke of a company
Review of Haste Ltd
Review of Haste Ltd – Unprofessional Management & Concerning Practices
My experience with Haste has been extremely disappointing, and I feel compelled to share the issues I encountered during my time with the company.
First and foremost, there is a serious lack of diversity within the management team. Every single manager I encountered was white, and not one Black manager was present. In a time where inclusion and representation should be standard, Haste seems far behind.
The management culture is toxic and unprofessional. Managers regularly engage in backbiting and hold endless Teams meetings about issues that do not affect or support the workers actually doing the physical jobs – the engineers out on the field. These field staff are the backbone of the company, generating all the profit, while the managers function as overhead with little real contribution.
One manager, Fiona, stood out in particular for all the wrong reasons. From our first interaction, she contradicted herself – claiming she doesn’t check up on engineers, yet admitting she calls them daily. I immediately flagged this as micromanagement and made it clear I didn’t want or need that kind of oversight. Despite this, she continued to involve herself unnecessarily and showed a real lack of technical understanding. In one case, she sent a picture to a trainer claiming the ESME seal was missing, when in fact it was the comms hub seal. This kind of mistake shows a worrying lack of knowledge from someone in her position.
The company’s technical standards are also outdated – they still install SMETS1 meters instead of SMETS2, which is almost unheard of in 2025. Their practices on-site are also questionable. For example, when a tamper is found at an Octopus Energy customer’s home, Haste de-energises the property and leaves, forcing Octopus to return hours later with a new meter. This is not only inefficient but can pose serious risks to vulnerable customers.
I also witnessed multiple breaches of data protection, with customer information left exposed on-site – a clear violation of GDPR.
Haste's reputation in the industry is slipping, as proven by E.ON recently terminating a £3 million contract with them due to poor service. They failed to handle CAT A jobs, which are confirmed cases of energy theft – a massive failing that endangered lives and cost E.ON significantly.
I’m honestly shocked that a reputable supplier like Octopus Energy is working with Haste, given the operational and ethical issues I witnessed.
To anyone considering working with or for Haste – be warned. There are serious structural, cultural, and operational issues within the company that need urgent attention.
Theft of my meter yesterday and nothing left in place and I am listed with VRS!
I came home to find that my meter had been stolen by Haste and I had been left with nothing, I have medical equipment and am classed as vulnerable and my child is also the same. I placed our household on the VRS list and this has been completely ignored. I am wholly digusted with this company and the blatant theft they have carried out for Utility Warehouse, also another truly disgusting company, I will be making a formal complaint regarding both companies. Law breaking without regard for a households welfare, I have not slept and also had to stay at my parents house, not close by and organise my child to stay elsewhere, this has been a truly stressful situation and has aggravated my health immensely, I have had family supporting me to get back on track and this will now cause me more aggravation as I have perishables that will become damaged as a result of this act!
