Haunting Nights 

⭐ Very disappointing experience – and concerning issues with the Trustpilot profile

We booked a Haunting Nights paranormal event at Bodmin Jail after seeing the experience advertised with a number of activities, including Ouija boards, table tipping, glass divination, mediums and séances.

Unfortunately, what we actually experienced was nowhere near what we had expected from the description.

The only activity that was attempted was the Ouija board, which produced nothing. The other activities we had specifically seen advertised simply did not take place. For a significant part of the evening, we were left to wander around the jail ourselves.

We completely understand that nobody can guarantee paranormal activity or that spirits will appear. That isn’t our complaint. Our complaint is that the activities and organised experience that were advertised to us were not provided.

We contacted Haunting Nights afterwards to explain how disappointed we were. Their response was particularly frustrating. We were essentially told that the situation could have been resolved if we had spoken to the team on the night.

Why should customers have to complain during an event before the company provides what was advertised? We paid for the experience described when we booked it, not for an evening of largely being left to our own devices.

We have also now noticed that Trustpilot itself has placed a warning on the Haunting Nights profile stating that its rating is unavailable due to a breach of Trustpilot’s guidelines, with the warning specifically referring to “Misleading content.” I am not suggesting this proves anything about individual reviews, but it certainly raises questions and is something potential customers should be aware of.

After looking forward to this event and making the journey specifically for it, we came away feeling extremely disappointed and let down.

The experience did not match what was advertised, the response to our complaint did little to address our concerns, and seeing the warning now displayed on their Trustpilot profile has added to our concerns.

We would not book with Haunting Nights again and cannot recommend them based on our experience.

⭐⭐ 2 stars — one star for the location and one because we did at least get to see Bodmin Jail.

Haunting Nights’ response is extremely disappointing and does not address the actual reason for my complaint.

At no point have I complained simply because my “expectations were not met”. My complaint is that the event was advertised as including specific activities, including Ouija boards, table tipping, glass divination, mediums and séances, yet these activities were not provided as advertised.

The fact that we questioned what was happening does not make us “uninterested and negative”. We paid to attend a paranormal investigation based on what was advertised, and naturally expected those advertised activities to take place.

We were not given the experience that had been advertised. The Ouija board session did not produce anything, and for significant periods we were left to wander around the location ourselves rather than being given the advertised organised investigation.

I also find the suggestion that our attitude had an “adverse effect on the whole night” particularly unfair. We were paying customers who were disappointed with the service we received. A company should be able to accept legitimate criticism without attempting to blame the customer for.

I stand by my review. This was not about trying to obtain a refund or deliberately leaving a bad review. It was about receiving the experience we paid for and were led to believe we were booking.

Booked a night at the Red Lion Hotel in Colchester with Vicky, Phill & Evie and it was great, completely surpassed my expectations. Being neither a believer or a sceptic, and more interested in having a unique experience, I found the team very kind, respectful and informative, and not sensationalist or performative like I had worried!

The whole night was interesting - several events I couldn't explain fully occured over the course of the evening and the team always tried to find a reasonable answer before attributing things to the supernatural, and I found that the 6 hours passed really comfortably and quickly. The whole team were very accommodating, professional, and elevated the experience from good to great.

Highly recommend to anyone, and thanks again.

Phill and Vicki were incredibly professional and kind, did not hesitate to accomodate for my reduced mobility, and offered an interesting experience without any need to resort to extreme theatrics or superfluous tricks - a solid, well-explained investigation and a welcoming ambiance that made the six hours feel perhaps even a little short.

Would definitely reccommend for people who want to explore this side of life, and the other, without worrying about being led by people only interested in cheap thrills - but with the guidance and dedication of those truly interested and open.

P. S. Evie was also very professional and a pleasure to have around, and I think she completed the team really well - I would not be surprised to see her in a more official position later on.

I must say this was my first experience on a Ghost hunt and something I’ve been wanting to do for a while so me and my best mate Ben decided to book the Red Lion in Cholchester and what a blast we had, super friendly hosts big thanks to Vicki , Phil and Evie for making our experience epic and exciting, we had a lot of activity with the spirits of Saturday night and we even got to use all of the proper kit to do our own vigil, we had lots of hot and cold drinks and some lovely snacks, crisps and biscuits to keep us going ,we met some really lovely people who were also doing the same as us. Can’t wait to book the next one thanks again guys 👻👻👻

Just want to say what great night we had at Ripon workhouse and jail. first time with you guys my friend booked for us . been with many other companies and have to say im impressed with the organisation of the event no long intro just about respecting the buildings and others. What i did love is the knowledge that the host had telling us how the equipment works why we use them the theorys behind all the experiments we did and the origins . plus bit of history as we went about the jail and workhouse my favourite was the scrying very weird . love the fact we got our own time to investigate and allowed to use the equipment. we got some activity but not a lot but was still very fasicinating night time just flew over could stayed all night
thanks to the 3 host all very lovely and approachable and thanks to Dave who answered all my questions .

This was my first time attending a paranormal event, and I absolutely loved it! I really enjoyed the whole experience and learned so much along the way. The team from Haunting Nights were lovely, friendly, and really good at explaining everything, which made the experience even better.

I would definitely recommend this company to anyone interested in paranormal events, whether it’s your first time or not. I had a great time and would definitely book with Haunting Nights again!

An amazing and well-organised ghost hunt; the whole team (Amy, Steven, and Bruce the Dog) were very welcoming and friendly. This was my first ghost hunt with Haunting Nights, and I will certainly be booking more with them. Such a great night — thank you!

We very much enjoyed our evening, I was a none believer however after some spooky unexplained things happening, I think I might now believe in ghosts! The hosts were great. Certainly recommend this company to anyone wanting to give ghost hunting a go.

My husband and I booked for Bron y Garth Hospital and Sleepover, and it exceeded all expectations for our first experience. The team hosting the event were brilliant, friendly, Pip, Zac and Kirsty. We had some very interesting things occur during the course of the evening, including a mimic rempod and a very interesting and accurate ouija session. I also took part in an Estes session - which was on my bucket list. We cannot wait to book again for a new location, but would definitely return to Bron y Garth again, it's got us hooked.

A very professional team. Lots of gadgets to try. Very knowledgeable team and always happy to explain things. Great locations chosen. This is our second night with Haunting Nights, and we will book more

Had a fantastic experience, the building certainly had lots of activity going on. Hosts are experienced and well organised, would definitely go on another night haunt.

We booked last minute for Fulford Manor in Devon.

Paul and his colleague were very professional, understanding and helpful to be honest very friendly people.

Main event started at 9PM and ended just after 3AM.

We did investigations that I've not done before, which was very interesting to see the range of modern technology + scribing and other techniques.

I attended thorn workhouse on saturday (i have been here a few times with this company) but this time it was different. They seemed like lovely people who worked it but the whole night was all over. From when i have been here before with david and amy it had always been a great night but this time it was diffrent people working it and the night didn't flow. They were a few distruptive people throughout the night. we only did two separate investigations and two group ones we didn't get to use all the rooms like we have done previously with david and amy. the night was a bit all over to be honest and it has put me off going to this location again i have seen a recent review from another dissatisfied guest. A few people went home early, people were being loud during our vigials and nothing was said. The night was a bit all over to be honest very disappointing as last time i went it was fantastic.

I Was at Thorne workhouse on Saturday night ,the night was a complete disaster and waste of my hard earned money and time to start it off two girls seemed inebriated and was disrupting the whole night, the night started slow I know your not guaranteed parnomnal activity but nothing happend as they was no encouragement and engagement from the 2 hosts once it began to slow down and eventually just went to nothing there was dwindling effort we told the 2 hosts after the 1st vigal we notified the host of 2 guest being obnoxious and destructive due to our consern of them being inebriated after this we went up to the attic for our second vigal and got some activity but some people was obviously faking for attention for reason stated in the review earlier they screamed over nothing made false claims which you could tell was false and yet both host still failed to remove them. The vigals which we was supposed to do 3 we did 2 and they dragged as no effort was put in highly unstructured this made the night less enjoyable and got boring very very fast I doubt will ever return to haunting night as just seen a review previously to this about Thorne on Saturday who said the same as me near enough this i highly doubt i will return to this company

My partner and I have done several ghost hunts and haunting nights always provide a well hosted evening, regardless of whether a skeptic or a believer, everyones experiences are validated. Looking forward to booking again

Had a great night at Antwerp Mansion - Alex was great!! If anything to note, it would be nice to do the vigils for the first half and then free time exploring for the remainder, but I am aware this would be my personal preference 🙂
