A nightmare disguised as a “safe…

A nightmare disguised as a “safe space.”
This place sells itself as LGBTQ+ friendly—but what I experienced was the exact opposite: intimidation, aggression, and a total lack of safety.

One of the waiters—a man covered in tattoos with chest hair exposed—was blatantly rude, unstable, and confrontational from the moment I walked in. He served me two cocktails with an attitude, and when I asked (politely) for a refill, he responded with a vulgar, dismissive gesture. I called him out on his rudeness—and he threatened me. Not just words: he got in my face, visibly aggressive, making me genuinely fear for my physical safety.

This isn’t just “bad service.” This is hostility in a space that should represent the opposite. In a bar that claims to be LGBTQ+ inclusive, no one should feel like they’re at risk.

And if anyone defends or denies this kind of behavior—they need to take a hard look at themselves. There’s no excuse for what happened.

I left shaken, angry, and disgusted. I will never return, and I warn anyone—especially queer folks—who expect safety and respect: you won’t find it here.

Loved the ease of installation...but

Loved the ease of installation...but: the day after adding it to my site, I had 2,000 new visits from urlumbrella.com - a website that allows for the purchase of bot traffic. This was a massive anomaly, as reported in GA4.

Today, I got an email that my plan had exceeded the number of views, so my bar would be turned off.

Coincidence? You can decide.

Lack luster customer support, basic popup filtering does not work.

Upgraded to a paid plan to test for our website in hopes of taking advantage of premium features down the road. Simple function of excluding the popup from multiple pages does not work. Tried to provide as much details and help on our end as we could with troubleshooting with the support rep, however because the rep simply isn't reading all of the details in the service ticket we have unnecessarily been going in circles as we keep having to repeat what was in previous tickets. The last response was basically "we don't know whats wrong". Just a simple issue of excluding the popup from certain URLs. Finicky features within the product and lackluster customer support. So far not even worth the basic subscription from this experience.

Terrible company

Terrible company. Make it nearly impossible to cancel - warning: they will keep billing your card long after you leave their terrible service.

Charge additional fees who are not…

Charge additional fees who are not clear on their offer. Also charged when you want to change to a different plan with a plan switch fee. I think they mislead a lot their user to make money. It's not an optimized marketing funnel it's a misleading marketing funnel that do not allow you to cancel your subscription directly from the dashboard.

Dishonest Billing

When you cancel on the site, you don't actually stop billing! Hidden deep in the terms and conditions it states you have to email them to stop payments coming off your account - even if you have cancelled on the website! When you contact support they get very defensive, claiming they are in the right. Pretty close to a scam when it comes to billing.

Was billed without consent - (Updated) - Got refund

We used hellobar once and then asked the customer care to remove the account.
They confirmed that they have made the changes but billed us 4 more times to a tune of $150.

NO SUPPORT

Great product - easy to build (for the most part) Non- existent customer service or help.

I had a small problem - it should be easy to solve. It's been three days - nothing except 'they'll get to it'

I'm looking to find an alternative which is a shame because I mostly like what I have
