Bezier airport Hertz

Bezier airport Hertz. Do I have to give them a star?! Total fraud. Charged for damage to car which was already there and even on their own damage report. Their own photos prove damage was there since June. Have they been scamming every customer since/before even who have rented that car? Not answering any efforts of contacting them. Whatever you do, do NOT hire from Thrifty/ Hertz.

Car rental for a week's vacation

Following a week's car rental for vacation, Hertz France has charged 288Euros to my credit card for excessive cleaning without my agreement. They have emailed photos of some sand in footwell(s) from trips to beach and other crumbs which easily vacuumed up and included in hire rates. I dispute the cleaning is excessive ie no liquid spills, etc and extortionate charges. HERTZ FRANCE ARE THIEVES - BE WARNED.

If I could give minus stars I would!

If I could give minus stars I would!

Given a car with engine failure... the car broke down 45 minutes later in the middle of nowhere, they were so unhelpful and the tow truck came hours later, at this point was 8pm.. all the hertz staff had logged off for the day and they left us stranded at a garage in the middle of nowhere ... no taxi arranged, no new hire car. we were just alone at a garage for 6 hours with a baby, the garage man spent hours calling around for us to find a taxi to take us at midnight and costing £350... our baby ended up being unwell and dehydrated which then resulted in an A&E trip!!! I am still emailing hertz for the refund of the 'taxi' which they were supposed to organise. The biggest shambles of a company and I would never use again

Hertz damage claim scam

I booked a vehicle with Hertz via my Booking.com account. By all accounts, the experience seemed to be pretty normal.
But 2 days after handing the vehicle back, I got an email from Hertz saying absolutely nothing about their claim of damage other than they had deducted the fees from my card as per the agreement.
There was an attachment with the email about the invoice which included as a line item regarding damage and an inspection fee.
I emailed Hertz immediately and asked them to "please explain".
They replied and provided me with a damage report (DAR) with no evidence to support their claim.
I replied again saying that I had taken photos at the time of pickup and drop off and that I would provide them with this when they were able to support their claim of damage.
Several weeks later (after I had reminded them of my request for the DAR), they did reply and showed a photograph indicating some very faint scratches on the back left corner of the vehicle.
Firstly, the vehicle was black and so the scratches would not usually be seen particularly so under the cover the vehicle was parked in at the Nice airport.
However, I always take photographs of vehicles I hire from every angle and luck was on my side this time.
The scratches they showed were there on the photo's I had taken of the vehicle at the time I PICKED UP THE VEHICLE.
After I emailed Hertz with this information, they emailed me back to say and I quote:
"Having reviewed the evidence you have provided, including the photograph taken at the time of vehicle collection and the associated metadata, we have decided to refund the damage charge as a gesture of goodwill."

I'd like to know if any readers out there have experienced something similar and if you are willing to share your vehicle details.

The vehicle I rented was a black Kia Niro Hybrid.
I am keen to hear from anyone who has also hired the same car as I did and what damage was claimed.

Ghost charge

Returned the car, full of fuel, no damage (pictures taken).
Credit card charge from Hertz for €138 !
Rang and they said they’d sort it…..no
Emailed 3 times, a reply ? No
Raised the issue with credit card provider and thankfully sorted 6 weeks later.
Don’t be surprised if you visit Disneyland Paris and see that Mickey Mouse is wearing a Hertz watch.

Hertz Narbonne gard

Hertz Narbonne gard. No stars should be an option DO NOT hire a car through Dollar car or Carjet you end up at Hertz which is "Highwaymen of the car rental" they don't refund your deposit for two weeks. They hard sell you extra insurance and many deals but don't give you your money back when you return the car. Also the car isn't ready on time and you can't get the time back. We wanted the car at 1030hrs didn't get it until 1115hrs but you have to return it before 1030hrs on the last day otherwise you get charged for another day. We should charge this company for our time. Someone needs to do the maths say one million people hire a car with Hertz x €500 held for two weeks? Perhaps they cash poor.

Charged €209.17 for alleged damage—no evidence provided

Charged €209.17 for alleged damage, with no supporting evidence provided

I rented through Thrifty/Hertz at Bordeaux Airport from 11–14 September 2026.

When I returned the car, the staff member at the desk accepted the keys and let me leave. No inspection was carried out with me, no damage was mentioned, and I wasn’t asked to sign a damage report. To our knowledge, no damage occurred during our rental.

I subsequently received an invoice for €209.17 (£179.93 charged to my card), comprising €149.17 for alleged damage, a €50 administration fee and €10 VAT. The invoice gives no description of the damage and includes no photographs or inspection evidence.

I complained on 16 September and chased on 23 September, requesting the pickup and return condition reports, dated photographs and an explanation of the charges. As of 29 September, I have received only an automated acknowledgement asking for 10 working days, with no substantive response or supporting evidence.

The emailed link to my rental agreement also doesn’t work, including when tried in an incognito browser.

Having money taken and then having to chase for basic evidence is deeply frustrating. I have now raised a dispute with my card provider. I want Hertz to explain and substantiate this charge, or refund it. I will update this review when the matter is resolved.

Hertz Nice Airport

Hertz Nice Airport: Complete abandonment and unreachable customer service
Avoid Hertz at Nice Airport at all costs.
We arrived at Terminal 1 at 11:45 AM today for an 11:30 AM booking confirmed by Hertz. The desk was closed. We immediately headed to Terminal 2, arriving at 12:10 PM, only to find that desk completely closed as well.
To make matters worse, the phone number listed on our booking confirmation does not connect, making local staff entirely unreachable. We were left stranded with our family, severely impacting our holiday plans. To top it off, we sent an urgent email requesting immediate assistance or a resolution—three hours later, we have received no response whatsoever.
Unprofessional, unreliable, and nonexistent customer support. Pick any other rental company.

Identity Theft..

Identity Theft... Hertz rented out a car using my personal details and my driving licence.
They acted totally fraudulently and are in breach of GDPR.
As soon as I was aware of this last week I wrote to Hertz Customer Services and Hertz Fraud Dept. I have received absolutley nothing in response.
We phoned the office in France and they said they couldn't help but the right procedure was to contact Customer Services...still nothing.
To cover any losses I have taken out an insurance protection policy.
How can a company like Hertz be so negligent

Hertz informed us the office would closed, come back tomorrow

We booked through Hertz well in advance however when we arrived at the office in Rouen it was closed. We received an email from Hertz an hour after we were to pick up the vehicle telling us that the office was closed (no kidding) and we could come back tomorrow. I’m not sure if we were expected to sleep outside the office given we had no accommodation.
Thank goodness there was someone in there who eventually to assist us, even though it was not his job.
I can’t believe that a global company like Hertz would simply send an email telling us to come back tomorrow
- An hour after we were meant to pick up the car
- Not providing any other collection point, of which there were several in the city.

Beware - you may be charged unreasonably

We booked our hire car through Ryanair and assumed that Hertz was a reliable company. We collected the car from Bergerac airport without any trouble, it worked fine all week, and we returned it with a full tank 40 minutes before it was due back, putting the key in a box as we had been directed to do as no staff were there. So far so good and we were happy with everything. But then we received the final invoice saying we were being charged a late return fee of 11 euros 50. I have no idea why. With difficulty, I managed to find an email address, and emailed customer services at hertz.com. The only response I eventually got was a list of email addresses of individual countries with no covering note, so I re-sent the email to the Hertz email address in France. I have heard nothing.
Reading other reviews, we seem to have got off lightly, but I shall never use Hertz again if there is any alternative. Bad enough that they took our money for no reason; worse still that it seems impossible to make contact with any kind of customer services to try and sort it out.

Beware

Beware, my wife booked through booking.com. We did the online check in with just me as the driver, also when we picked the car up we told them it was just me. They only wanted my driving licence and passport. I returned the car to Bergerac airport and two days later they took 198.00 euros from my card.
When I visited the office at Bergerac they told me that the person booking me in made a mistake but I had to claim through customer service. They just kept repeating the same thing, because my wife booked the car they refused to refund me. Double check the contract when you sign. Not a nice experience.

Disastrous experience with Hertz…

Disastrous experience with Hertz France. The windshield got damaged during the rental (stone hit the shield). Our insurance is covering such damages except that it is impossible to download the rental agreement from the website. The rental agreement is a key document for the claim with the insurance. Under the digital era, hertz rental agreement are provided through a link into an email!!! But the link is inactive. Apparently it is a bug that happens quite often as per the hertz customer service employee.
It takes 10 working days to the customer service to get back to you. When you get on the phone with the customer service, they keep you on hold for 15 minutes, then the line cuts automatically and you get zero information on your file. It is a disgrace! Of course, in the meantime they block 1500 EUR on your credit card.

Passez votre chemin.

English Below
Avoid this branch at all costs. Our experience with Hertz Malta at the airport was absolutely scandalous from start to finish.

We booked a car online (with a €98 deposit). Upon arrival, the agent took my bank card for "registration" but then tried to force us into buying an additional insurance package (between €145 and €200), claiming our card was marked "Debit" instead of "Credit," which according to him meant they couldn't hold the deposit.

Having a Mastercard Gold (with CDW insurance included)—which I have used for several rentals in different countries without ever having a single issue—we insisted he at least try the pre-authorization. He simply said, "it says debit on the card, we won't try." He then tried to pressure us by saying we could leave without the car if we wanted, but we would lose our deposit and pay additional fees if we didn't buy the insurance. When we refused to give in to this blackmail, he refused to give his name and essentially showed us the door without the car.

But the absolute worst part happened the next day: after refusing to give us the car, they marked us as a "No-Show" and charged an extra €95! How? By making a manual, card-not-present transaction on their POS terminal using the card details they took during check-in, as I never inserted my card or entered my PIN.

What followed was a long and exhausting battle. After being bounced around by automated phone systems all week, I sent multiple emails to various addresses, eventually having to quote consumer law texts to them.

Faced with my persistence, they finally backed down. First, I got the €95 "No-Show" fee reversed (they actually emailed me a photo of the POS cancellation receipt!). A week later, I received an apology email stating my initial deposit would be refunded, which finally hit my account two weeks later.

Yes, I won and got all my money back, but it took a long and highly stressful fight. Thug-like practices, intimidation, and deplorable customer service. Stay away.

Terrible!

I would implore any person thinking of renting from Hertz at CDG to think again and go somewhere else. Aside from polite (though unhelpful) staff, my experience was universally bad. The lines were long with too few staff working for how busy it was. We were provided with a car that was filthy and had been involved in a recent accident with extensive damage to one side of the car. We returned to the office to complain and to check that we would not be charged for this damage (no one shows you to the car or inspects it with you as you might expect in other places). It then took us 40 minutes to exit the car park where we had to move bollards in order to do so. As a result of this, we were 20 minutes past the 'grace period, when returning the car in another Hertz on the same day. Despite Hertz being responsible for the delay, they have charged us EUR 250! This seems to be a car rental office designed only to extract your money.

Terrible service, beware of false charges.

Terrible. Multiple shortcomings and a very poor service:
Vehicle had external damage, which Hertz attempted to claim was caused by me on return of vehicle. Luckily, I had taken photographs. Hertz then attempted to charge me twice for the vehicle. The vehicle requested was a 7-seater car; the vehicle available was an old 11-seater minibus. Not the same thing. Avoid Hertz.

Scam and unexplained charges

When we picked up our prepaid car from the Hertz office at CDG airport, we were told that the car did not have Apple CarPlay. However, they said we could get one with Apple CarPlay if we paid an extra €200. We decided not to pay the extra fee. We were given the car we had already paid for — and it actually had Apple CarPlay. It felt like they were trying to scam us.
After we returned the car, my credit card was charged three times for €20 each. I contacted Hertz by email and through their online form, but received no reply. I then called customer service, but they were unable to help and simply gave me another email address for complaints. I have now been waiting two weeks for a response. I assume they are not going to explain why these charges were made.
This will be the last time I rent from Hertz.

Hertz France is appalling

If there was an option for lower I would use it, Hertz France is genuinely appalling.

Firstly, we requested a Peugeot 3008, instead they gave us some sort of Kia piece of rubbish that had nothing but problems connecting consistently with CarPlay.

Secondly, we needed roadside assistance - what a joke. The phone numbers given don’t work from international mobiles, there is no ability to get hold of a human and even when you finally get to the roadside assist thing they don’t contact you back.

I would strongly recommend never using this company again, it is truly appalling
