Poor experience all round.
When we lost the ability to log in recently, our IT dept contacted your helpdesk, who didn't seem to know how to resolve the problem. Our students appreciate being able to access the textbook online, but the additional tasks/quizzes are brief and superficial, difficult to set, difficult to get any meaningful feedback from. Not worth paying any extra for. This version is not as user-friendly as the old one.

The book is good but I was frustrated by it being released late which hindered my planning. I truly believe that the process for students to be able to access the books needs to be simplified. It took too much time and was too laborious. The new evaluation points are great but i was disappointed that the book had not been more updated.
A Review of the New Hachette AQA Psychology Textbook Platform: A Masterclass in Making Things Needlessly Difficult
As a Psychology teacher, I was cautious when I heard Hachette Learning would be taking over the AQA Psychology textbook. Illuminate Publishing set the bar extremely high. To their credit, the new hard copy textbook is perfectly fine. The structure is the same. The questions, activities, practical corners, MCQs. All as they should be.
The online version, however, is a complete disaster. It is almost as if someone sat down and asked, “How can we make the simplest process as complicated as humanly possible?” and then proudly executed that plan.
How online access used to work with Illuminate Publishing • You receive an email with the link, your teacher login, your student login.
• You click the link, type your details.
• You are in.
Simple. Logical. Respectful of teachers’ time.
How online access works with Hachette Learning They have somehow managed to fail at the basics.
• Online access was not released when promised.
• When it did appear, it was missing the additional activities and answers because no one had added the tab links.
• Usernames and passwords had to be created from scratch.
• Then they had to be verified.
• Then, if you want to share the resource with a colleague, you must register in an admin hub.
• Then you are told to ask another member of staff (they suggested the Head of IT) to become the 'Access Coordinator'.
• Then your account must be verified by the access coordinator.
• Then you must set up single sign on.
• And after all that, I still cannot work out how to share the online textbook with my colleague. The students I have paid full access for are not even in the equation yet!
This is coming from someone who is perfectly comfortable with technology. If this is what it is like for me, I dread to think what other teachers are going through.
Once you finally get in The layout is an eyesore. The missing tabs for activities and answers eventually appeared but look like an afterthought. Random boxes have been glued around the edges of the screen. Even in full screen mode, there is a large wasted border that no one bothered to remove.
There is also no option to highlight text or copy and paste, which would have been a very reasonable expectation for an online textbook in the year twenty twenty five.
Overall verdict I cannot express how disappointed I am with Hachette Learning’s online textbook platform. The physical book is fine, but the online system is an absolute travesty from start to finish. A textbook should be accessible. This one feels like punishment.
If Illuminate Publishing set the standard, Hachette Learning has buried it somewhere under a maze of pointless logins, admin hubs, and verification requests.
Wasted learning time due to faulty online service
Shocking online services for such a large company. Replete with faults and errors. Continuously interrupted learning. Don't waste your time.
Still can not access to text book after purchasing the textbook 2 weeks ago.
After purchasing the textbook, my child is unable to access the e-textbook. I emailed customer service with screenshots of the errors, but after a week, I received the useless following response:
"Good morning,
Thank you for your email and query. For help accessing your digital title, you will need to speak with our digital support department.
My child still sits in class without an e-book for weeks, and I'm unsure when we can get access.
Scam website
I am a teacher who urgently needed a new Cambridge syllabus textbook. So I bought an ebook, thinking that would be the quickest. The amount was deducted from my account, and then it just wouldn't work, so they contacted me if I was going to teach with this book? After I responded with my school credentials I have not heard anything. It's been 8 days. Do not trust this site! It's a scam.
Don't be fooled by the initial support it gets worse
Initial support was great, however as soon as we placed the order everything that could go wrong did. There is no telephone support, and 'tickets' take over a week to be responded to. Tests were not delivered, with no notification meaning that a whole year group have not been able to complete their end of year data. Adding users on to the account became an absolute joke as it was near impossible to remove users who had left.

I will never buy a book from you again after how you treated James Bowen in the books about Bob the cat. Shame on you!

We ordered 1418 GBP for Boost subscriptions for English for the IB MYP By Concept for MYP years 1,2,3,and 4/5. The payment was made by our school on October 31st and when logging into our account it still shows we have no susbscriptions. Given the amount of money we have paid and the fact we have gotten no help from anyone at digital support or customer service, this essentially amounts to us paying for a product we have not received.

Great customer experience with Michelle at Hodder
We have been working with Michelle who is our Secondary Education Consultant and she is absolutely brilliant! She will pop in to see us, gives us the latest updates on products and generally tries to make my life easier as a school librarian coordinating Hodder products within our school setting. Thank you Michelle! The Hodder Education magazines and eLibraries in particular are brilliant.
