A Disgrace to Swiss Hospitality – Deeply Disappointed by Hotel Schweizerhof Zürich

I travel frequently and have stayed in countless hotels across Europe and beyond — but my experience at Hotel Schweizerhof Zürich ranks among the most disappointing I’ve ever had.

I booked a Superior Double Room directly through the hotel’s own website, which advertised a spacious, well-lit room with a large window and a modern, integrated bathroom. What I received was nothing close: a room with a small window, a split bathroom (toilet crammed into a corner away from the shower), and connecting doors to two neighboring rooms — turning my stay into a noisy, uncomfortable, and utterly frustrating experience.

When I brought this to the attention of the front desk, I expected at least some effort at resolution. Instead, I was met with indifference, arrogance, and a dismissive attitude. The receptionist acted as if guest comfort was an afterthought, and her only goal was to brush the issue aside. I was shown other rooms in the same category — all of inferior quality — as if to insult my intelligence further.

Eventually, I was told bluntly that no suitable room would be offered, and I was free to check out if I wasn’t happy. So I did — after just one night of a planned two-night stay.

To the hotel’s minimal credit, they refunded the second night — but frankly, that was the bare minimum they could do after delivering a misleading product and treating a paying guest with such dismissive contempt.

For a property that positions itself as a premium hotel, Schweizerhof Zürich failed spectacularly. Inaccurate advertising, poor service, and a total lack of accountability — this is not the Swiss hospitality I know and admire.

I would strongly advise fellow travelers to look elsewhere, especially if you value integrity, professionalism, and comfort.
